For those 11,000+ fans who've viewed my upload of the finale at Butlin's Manhattan Bar, Bognor Regis on Friday 29th October 1993, here is the full 39 minutes of their performance recorded at the time, wart an' all. Featured are perhaps the most memorable line up of the Fortunes dating from 1984 with Rod Allen, Barry Pritchard, Michael Smitham and Paul Hooper. Songs include "Here It Comes Again", "Pretty Woman", "Storm In A Teacup", "You've Got Your Troubles", "Runaway" and "Wonder of You". Michael Smitham takes lead vocal on "When You Walk In The Room" and lead guitar on Paul Hooper's brilliant drum solo (cut down - sorry!) in Mark Knopfler's "Theme From Local Hero". A highlight is Rod's rendition of "My Prayer" in spite of an obstructing swaying head in the audience!
The full song list:
"On The Wings Of A Nightingale" (part)
"Here It Comes Again"
"When You Walk In The Room"
"My Prayer"
"Going Home - Theme From "Local Hero" (part drum solo)
"It's Over"
"Pretty Woman"
"Here Comes That Rainy Day feeling" (part)
"Storm In A Teacup"
"You've Got Your troubles"
"Runaway"
"Wonder Of You"
Look out for more transcriptions from Malcolm Drew's Video Archive. They all seem to be memorials. Gerry "Orbison" Grant died in 2010, Reg Presley of The Troggs in 2013, and The Crickets Joe Mauldin in 2015. The Fortunes Barry Pritchard died in 1999, Rod Allen in 2008 and former keyboard player Dave Carr in 2011.
TECH BIT: Transcribed from compact S-VHS tape. Cropped from 4:3 to 16:9. Stabilised. When judging picture quality please bear in mind that back in the 90's home video cameras were bulky and conspicuous and most venues prohibited filming so it had to be done discreetly and usually from the worst possible vantage points.

One of my favorite bands from the 70's - 80's and will certainly be when they're going to be in the Netherlands (Holland) in January, the 20th. 😍💖

Rod Allen sounded great that night and I am sure, alcohol permitting, that some of the audience recall what a memorable night that was, with The Fortunes on such great form.

With the( Forever Changes from Bedfordshire) I supported the original Fortunes circa 1967/8, in the Isle of Ely Cambridgeshire at a teachers graduation event, with groups playing all night. inc Pinkertons Assorted Colours and of course the great Fortunes. Great singer Rod Allen.

They had about 6 hits and they cut half of them down to 60 second bits not even substantial enough to be in a medley. But they do full-length, even extended cover versions of other artists' hits. What a concert draw!! I would've asked for my money back. Not saying that Rod Allen was not a stunningly talented and appealing singer. He was. The cover of "The Wonder of You" just might redeem the show. But "Here Comes That Rainy Day Feeling Again" and "Storm In A Teacup" were great, great records, major hits, even if one flopped in the U.K. and the other flopped in the U.S. And "That Same Old Feeling" isn't even mentioned. Yeah, I would've been shattered.
