The Foundations were a British soul band, active from 1967 to 1970. The group was made up of West Indians, White British, and a Sri Lankan. Their 1967 debut single "Baby Now That I've Found You" reached number one in the UK and Canada, and number eleven in the US, while their 1968 single "Build Me Up Buttercup" reached number two in the UK and number three on the US Billboard Hot 100. The group was the first multi-racial group to have a number one hit in the UK in the 1960s.
The Foundations were one of the few British acts to successfully imitate what became known as the Motown Sound. The Foundations signed to Pye, at the time one of only four big UK record companies (the others being EMI with its HMV, Columbia Records, and Parlophone labels; Decca; and Philips who also owned Fontana).

What a fantastic piece of pop music. I love the up inflection in his voice when he last sings in those bad bad old days, in those sad sad old days. Just great singing and another Tony Macaulay/John Macleod classic. A great time for great songs and singers, thank you

My 18yr old daughter played out loud their Buttercup song, and I thought OMG, hunt down the song and look at what else they did, long time no hear, these old tunes...born 67, lol.

Usually find that Buttercup is blocked in the country it was made for if DLT introduced it you would only get half a song after his foolishness really thinks he is the best. Take another look travis your useless waste of a DJ

I thought I'd recognized the composition, never knew it was Tony McCaulay until now, now surprising as his compositions had that "3 minute story" everyone learned to and appreciate. The lyrics are genius, another masterpiece.

Ha, hah Alright In those bad, bad old days Before you loved me girl (loved me girl) I was just a lonely man In so many ways Till you loved me girl (loved me girl) And I was your only man You came into my life And ended misery In those bad, bad old days That used to be Everyday I slave to pull us through But one day I'm gonna make it girl I'm telling you The sun goes down around home every night To see your smiling face and hold you tight I know that you'll be waitin' there for me But I can still recall what used to be, yeah In those bad, bad old days Before you loved me girl (loved me girl) I was just a lonely man In so many ways Till you loved me girl (loved me girl) And I was your only man I shake a living out of this old world But I'll give you everything, believe me girl I'm gonna really make it, to the top And nothing in this world is gonna, make me stop You sure put a magic spell on me I'm nothing like the man I used to be, yeah I still remember (still remember) Just last September (last September) In those bad, bad old days Before you loved me girl (loved me girl) I was just a lonely man In so many ways Till you loved me girl (loved me girl) And I was your only man In those bad bad old days (Thank you baby, thank you, baby, yeah) Before you loved me girl, loved me girl (Thank you very much) I was just a lonely man (I'll give you the world, yeah) In so many ways till you loved me girl (Thank you honey) (Thank you, thank you baby, yeah, now) La, la, la, la....

BEAT CLUB SHOW WITH GREAT QUALITY SOUND AND VISION USED TO WATCH IT WITHOUT FAIL AND RECORDED MOST OF IT ONTO BETA MAX AND VHS VIDEO TAPES BETA WAS THE FAR BEST QUALITY. VHS ONLY CATERED FOR THE AMERICAN MARKET JUST LIKE AMERICA EVERYTHING HAS TO BE BIG AND NOT JUST THE CITIZENS HEADS. ONE REASON BETA NEVER REALLY TOOK OFF WORLD WIDE. BEAT CLUB USED TO PLAY THE MOST POPULAR SONGS FROM BEGINNING TO END WITHOUT ANY INTERUPTIONS. THEN THE MOUTHPIECE DLT WAS ADDED TO THE COMPARES OF THE SHOW. BY THE TIME HE HAD FINISHED INTRODUCING THE ARTISTS AND SONG THE SONG WAS ALMOST FINISHED. HE WOULD COME IN WITH HIS GOB MIDWAY THROUGH THE SONG OR EVEN AT THE END. HE ALWAYS HAD TO GET HIS GOB IN SOMEWHERE IN THE ACT. I STOPPED WATCHING THE SHOW IF HE WAS THE COMPARE FOR THE NIGHT. QUITE A FEW PEOPLE WHO I KNEW DID THE SAME. HE WAS EXCATLY THE SAME ON THE RADIO. BLACKBURN WAS NEARLY AS BAD. SAVILLE WAS THE BEST FOR LETTING THE SONG PLAY IN ITS ENTIRE LENGTH OBVIOUSLY YOU WOULDNT WANT HIM ASSOCIATED WITH YOUR MUSIC TODAY. UTUBE SEEMS TO BE PUTTING MORE BEAT CLUB MUSIC ON BUT IT IS NEARLY ALWAYS DLT SO OBVIOUSLY YOU CANT SAVE IT TO YOUR MUSIC LIBRARY. ALSO NOTICED THAT UTUBE IS PUTTING MORE AND MORE ADDS ON EVEN LONGER THAN BEFORE ALSO PUTTING A AD ON FOR A COUPLE OF SECONDS MIDWAY THROUGH A SONG ESPECIALLY IF IT IS A PRETTY LONG SONG ELOISE BEING ONE OF THEM. I WAS GOING TO GO BACK TO PREMIUM BUT IT ITS FAR TO EXPENSIVE AND WILL ALWAYS HAVE THE LIKES OF TRAVIS BUTTING IN. IVE ALREADY GOT THOUSANDS OF SONGS FROM FOUR DIFFERENT ERAS PUT ONTO FIRESTICK SO MAY NOT BOTHER TO SUBSCRIBE TO THE CHANNEL ANYMORE. IT IS OKAY FOR THE YOUNGER ONES WHO ARE STARTING TO APPRECIATE THE OLDER MUSIC THAN THE STUFF THEY ARE LISTENING TO NOW. UTUBE KEEP ASKING FOR WAYS OF MAKING THE CHANNEL BETTER IT COULD START BY CUTTING DOWN ON THE ADDS MAINLY THE MULTI RACIAL ONES LIKE TERRESTRIAL TV HAS BEEN DOING FOR THE LAST FEW MONTHS. I DONT WATCH TERRESTRIAL TV PLUS I AM NOT RACIST. EVERYONE HAS GOT SOME KIND OF RACISM IN THEM ITS BEEN AROUND FOR THOUSANDS OF YEARS AND NOT GOING TO STOP NOW JUST BECAUSE THEY THINK DORIS JOHNSON IS OUR SAVIOUR. WHEN IN FACT HE IS JUST A THICK PERSON WHO CANNOT PUT A SENTENCE TOGETHER.↪️↩️.

@@harryhackney6416 awesome! Thanks for the info! Every year they had an episode on my birthday 1966- 1970! December 31st ! As if I was predestined to discover this place. Was recording oldies off the radio for 10 years prior in early 80’s before discovering MTV and they would play a half hour of oldies clips - primarily Beat Club videos and would start VHS taping them as well for personal entertainment and recognized so many artists and they’re songs! Would get the goose bumps/ chills seeing new one’s as well as previously heard one’s from radio days. Now I have complete episodes on DVD from 1965 thru 1973! Wish they would uncensored certain one’s ! Got a list of one’s I can’t get online at all like Status Quo/ Ice In The Sun, The Gun/ Race With The Devil, Procol Harum/ The Devil Came From Kansas, Peter Starstedt/ Where Do You Go To My Lovely, and The Kinks/ Waterloo Sunset. Know of any more censored ones??
