Listening to the man Sekou on your platform today. He’s very objective and truthful. You need to engage him more often to share insights on issues of national importance.
Ghanaians jubilated when Nkrumah was overthrown. Ghanaians were against some of his decisions. It wasn't only Akyem people. You people just hate truth. Nkrumah did his best. However, he wasn't a saint. He had his drawbacks. Accept it or leave it
@mr.president2249 don't make it about tribalism. Not every GA ces from Osu or called Tetteh. And not every Ewe is from Ho or called Akakpo. And A Single Extended Family in Gonja cannot define the entirety of the Gonja. 🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿
@@patrickasante6991 Nkrumah was no God, neither was he perfect, but he is the man of the century in Africa. Instead of celebrating such a figure, my president chose to exhibit his hate and disdane. You come and mess up the country and you think we should respect your view about who is founder? Absolutely unacceptable.
Nkrumah is the founder of Ghana, and nobody can change that. If we have to go by the argument that everybody who contributed to our independence should be recognized, then it shouldn't be only the UGCC and Dr. Nkrumah. We would have to go through a whole list of hundreds of people. At the end of the day, Dr. K Nkrumah is the only man who lead the entire country to independence.
Exactly, it's gonna be a long list. From the hundreds of aboriginals in the land who fought the Portuguese and the british against invasion to the 3 soldiers whose lives were taken by those British imperialists. This actually angered the youths and further triggered the protest on the street the next day for the fight for independence, they were mayhem and all sort. This finally lead to the approval after Nkrumah stepped in for the voice of the people to be heard. Its not limited to only the Big six, oh No! It's a long list, however Nkrumah stood tall in all these, his bravery, focus, leadership and genuineness to see all African Countries enjoy freedom is the only difference between him and others.
Have you even checked the political meaning of the expression " founder of a nation"? Except for the monarch Republics, the term is almost always used for a collective group recognized for their efforts and struggle in founding a nation. Dr. Nkrumah led the final and most prominent road to independence. That no one can snatch from him. However it doesn't solely make him the founder of the nation. Ghana isn't a church or an organization where one man is the visionary founder. Put the emotions aside because history has consequences on how we write it today.
JB Danquah and co. who died in prison did not die because of the independence struggle. Obviously not! If anything at all, they were on the side of the colonizer so how could they have died for Ghana? How could they be considered as heroes of our independence struggle? They didn't die because of the independence cause, but because of the numerous assassination attempt they made on Nkrumah's life. Those are the reasons why they landed in jail. Lets gets the fact straight! There's difference between one who fights for a cause and one who opposes the cause. They cannot all be considered founders when finally the purpose of the cause is realized. JB Danquah after Nkrumah left the UGCC largely became antagonistic to all that Nkrumah stood for. So how could he also be considered a founder? . Their hatred for Kwame Nkrumah after his break away from the UGCC blinded them and denied them from seeing the bigger picture of our freedom. They opposed literally every struggle that Nkrumah put forward. So they can not be considered as part of the independence struggle and hence could no way be considered as founder. That's the price they pay for their hatred of the man Kwame Nkrumah. And the fact is that, they died in prison because they were aiding and abetting in the assassination attempt on the life of a Head of state. That's Treson!! That's not the same as fighting for the independence cause. Nkrumah was the ones who was fighting for the independence of Ghanaians, so anyone who was antagonistic to that cause was obviously a traitor, and was not serving the collective purpose of Ghanaians. So how could JB Danquah be considered as a hero or the founder of the nation's independence struggle, a cause that he fiercely and passionately opposed.
MR. SEKOU is so deep in mind, very unbiased and tolerant. Mr. Sekou, I urge you to look up for Nana Kwame Bediako. He's definitely the 2nd coming of your late father.
Jandam Journalism nkoaa, as if they don’t read. Nkrumah is the symbol of every Ghanaian from the past to present to future. Travel to any African country and see if apart from Nkrumah any name will be recognized.
Journalist doesn't want to hear objective thoughts, the man is explaining a premise for his point but you want him to say A or B so you cut and use it for propaganda and show us 3 mins. This type of journalism is the reason why Ghana is where it is. Black or white journalist smh
Ah this journalist paa!! Asking yawa questions like “so your money is on the NDC”? What do you aim To achieve? To say Nkrumah s son supporting party A or B? Wei???? Just let the guy explain why Nkrumah s name represents all Ghanaians who toiled and sweat to establishing Ghana!
Is pretty shameful and annoying when some Ghanaians major on minors and minor on majors!! This journalist has been very irritating with his questioning! As humble as Sekou admits he was a child back then, he is clearly exuding so much knowledge in the fact that the leadership in Kwame Nkrumah represented us all and everyone else who contributed ! What is wrong with his name standing for everyone who in the past contributed to the foundation of Ghana!??? Do you really want to waste time to name every single soul that contributed in their own way to founding Ghana?? You might as well go in history to my village and find out the name of someone who at that time died for Gold Coast?? Is greediness and childishness in my opinion for someone to argue that Nkrumah stood not for himself but the eulogy we accord him as the founder of Ghana stands for everyone else who did same! Lastly to buttress my point, when you name a company or even a road by say “Obetsebi Lamptey road”? Do you waste your time to include the names of everyone who contributed in building that road??” Or you do so in commemoration of the person whose naming represents everyone that fondly eulogize him!? Same brain point he stated for Kotoka as the name of our airport! In respect to history, his name on our airport represents every Ghanaian! Or better still change the airport’s name to every person who contributed in building the airport- at this time I Can’t over explain ….
My guy the interjection does not make us enjoy the full explanation of what he want to say Allow him to finish to his point then another question Why not write your question then ask him after he has exhausted his explanations pls
Totally annoyed by his questioning! This thing sef is not something to debate about! We all know when we celebrate Nkrumah, we remember everyone else involved in the fight! What is this time wasting trying to separate each “grain of rice” to eat!???
Evans, while you speak fluently, your journalistic skills and style need improvement. Your interviews are difficult to follow due to the lack of logical flow. The impromptu interjections and poor judgment of leading questions make it hard to understand your interviews in a meaningful way, often reflecting poorly on the interviewer. Please work on this.
have you heard sekou? he said nkrumah is more bigger than the whole ghana that i second to. sekou really admire and proud of his father. look at sekou he's looks special, i don't know how to describe him but i think like father like son.
Ah Ah Evans Mensah Nkrumahs contribution was way more than the other big 5. The simple question is who led us to independence and that’s it if it is Nkrumah he becomes the figure head. We acknowledge the others but hence Nkrumah is the founder
Oh chale! You hit the nail right on the head! The journalist made such an interesting perspective from our first presidents son so boring by his unprofessional interjections!
Sekou, don't confuse " opposing views " which in all aspects of human civilization is permissible and admirable, with " destructive, infantile and diabolic opposing views " which should not be tolerated, encouraged and celebrated. With the Danquah and Busia group, they were hell-bent on thwarting the formation of Ghana as an independent nation at all cost as it would make them irrelevant to the Ashanti Nation State and Northern Regional power blocs.Their interest was to safeguard the interest of the colonial forces and their imperialist allies in the USA. What most people are not aware of is,tension started brewing between the core UGCC leaders and Dr Nkrumah less than 3 months upon his arrival in Ghana and his assumption of the role as Secretary , on the grounds that from day one Dr Kwame Nkrumah was pushing for the inclusion of the people from the Northern Territories, the Trans Volta Togoland and the Ashanti Nation. This certainly did not sit well with JB Danquah and his people who vehemently opposed it at meetings at Saltpond and Accra way before their break up and the formation of CPP. Let's note that Dr Nkrumah's ideas were shaped in over 15 years in the USA and UK all the way through the PAN-AFRICAN CONGRESS held in Manchester,UK in 1945 so to him, there was no slowing down or turning back when he was invited to the GOLD COAST by Arko Adjei and Paa Grant who single handedly paid for his return. Arko Adjei was well aware of Dr Nkrumah's PAN-AFRICANIST views including Hastings Banda of Malawi and Nnamdi Azikiwe of Nigeria. It was something they discussed at length. The PAN-AFRICAN spirit is too strong to ignore. Now with the PDA ,it was an instrument to reign in terrorist acts across the country by the opposition members and safeguard national security. In all honesty, this is necessary anytime anyday even today. Was the government not working 24 hours to lock up Minority leader Ato Forson for financial infractions not to talk of terrorist act ? The more Dr Nkrumah's name and legacy is talked negatively about or threatened, the more new information is unearthed to dispell the lies and fabrication. It's sad that the UP tradition has in all these decades, not gotten over the fact that Dr Kwame Nkrumah literally and constructively put four or possibly five Nation states together to found GHANA. This is something they never could have pulled of in all honesty. It is way beyond their capabilities and capacity. LOVE TO AL GHANAIANS AND AFRICANS AT HOME AND ABROAD. NKRUMAH LIVES FOREVER AND EVER. NKRUMAH NEVER DIES.
I believe you've said it all in this write up. Sekou was trying to beat around the bush to be on a safer side but he couldn't do so through the whole interview because no one can shy away from the legacy Nkrumah left with Ghana and Africa as a whole. You just nailed the nail right on the head of history about what transpired within the UGCC and what made Nkrumah break away to make history for Ghana and Africa and not for himself. Nkrumah's overthrow is what led Ghana into this current state we find ourselves in right now. The lies and falsehood (which has always been their strategy) peddled at that time about Nkrumah did some work but truth always reigns and we see the evidence of those who want the good of Ghana and those who want the goods of Ghana for themselves and for a minority. The other political parties that have emerged to oppose the one that overthrew Nkrumah have in a way left the ideals that Nkrumah stood for, which is the back bone of their formation. We need to revisit the books and have Nkrumah's vision lead us into the future. A vision that can be modernised to go along with the world we are in now. Yes Nkrumah was much bigger than Ghana. He was like a tree that has had it's seed planted in many places. Although the mother tree is being cut down in it's first place of existence... the other seeds that have been planted in other places still know about the mother tree and always makes reference to it. Nkrumah lives forever and Ghana can be great again.
Nkrumah i believe is the most prominent among the founders of the young nation. However, it's ludicrous and myopic to think a whole nation with such diversity united under a common constitution, was founded by over person. As if Ghana were a monarchy like UAE and others. Ghana is a constitutional democracy. The struggle couldn't have been one person. It's common sense.
I am disappointed in the interviewer. The interviewee gives vrry intelligent and balanced answers but tge interviewer unintelligently keeps asking unnecessary questions that will not serve any interest of Ghana.
Am I the only one that feel the presenter is not neutral ? His tone is as if he is a spokesperson for the government. Eii Ghana why all the hate for the Kwame Nkrumah
This is very poor journalism, you are looking for.soumdbites and polemics rather than engaging in useful and productive conversation. You have to move away from this posturing
Evans, are you a journalist or government spokesman?.You set an agenda, rehearse the government point of view and call Dr. Nkrumah argue with him on behalf of the government.
Sekou is struggling to reconcile his dispassionate objectivism with his emotional subjectivism. I can understand that. Blood runs thicker always. Long live Nkrumah. Long live Ghana.
BECAUSE ALL THE LEADERS THAT CAME BEFORE HIM HAVE NO VISION, IF U HAVE A VISION/PLAN U DO THING THAT LAST FOR GENERATION BUT IF U DON'T HAVE PLAN U CAN NEVA ATTAIN ANYTHING
Which kind of journalism is this? Highly unethical and unprofessional. Speaking English does not mean you are a good journalist. At least allow him to talk, rather than interjecting your preconceived notions and biases.
The issue here is that after overthrowing Nkrumah most of the history was changed into their favour and he was a child by then,so you're not expecting him to know everything!we as a Ghanians have been decieved right from our schools after overthrowing Nkrumah... So,what are we talking about, how do you expect your enemies to say anything good about you.
Our journalist should sometimes learn to allow people of depth space to air themselves. There's much to gain from their musings than some of the unnecessary and ill-timed questions asked .
I think they should leave Nkrumah to rest in peace. We said he was no good and overthrew him and destroyed all the foundations he laid for the country. 60 years after he was gone just look at Accra, apart from that small airport city which you can say is moderately developed where else is developed. Instead of focusing on that, we’re always making noise about founders will that develop the country for us.
Am sure the host is shocked to have known that Nkrumah never made time to see his children. He was walking around claiming he was after independence when his children couldn't even get access to him. Nkrumah's legacy is dead to be honest. he declared himself that the independence of 'Ghana' is meaningless. and that it will remain so until the entire Africa has been liberated and united!
You want only your father to be recognised as the founder? That's rather distortion of history. He's being another with a day, yet that's not sufficient for him, how selfish he is.
@@oneone7522 really? Is that an accurate account? This narrative doesn't really add up? Why will corporals and Majors be leading a different protest than that which is important for a whole nation? Isn't this also a manipulation? From textbooks I'm read different narratives contrary to this recent ones. Well, the truth is always with the Lord no matter how it is hidden. But thanks for the explanation, quite confusing though.
Why is Jesus's name standing tall among the disciples? Before he came to the scene there were others that had paved the way, so who is the founder of Christianity? Is it John de Baptist? Is it those in the Isaiah times?
l e ts just build a hall of fame n have put their busts of all the people who matter with a short wrote of their contributions..a kind of Madam Thousauds this will solve all the problem contributions
When you vote for a Problem to rule, this is what you get. Always this Problem is creating issues for Ghanaians, why instead of finding a way to create jobs for the youth ,you're rather causing issue here and there.
Perfect point Alan! Something no one can change from History! What is wrong in giving Nkrumah his due respect! Why waste time in fishing out extra details and creating issues that never existed! We all know when we mention Nkrumah, he represents everyone who contributed!
gyimiiiie gyimiiiie akuffo addos government consists a lot of people including aboa ba wontumi but, kwaseato akuffo addo always says my government or my administration.
