The divisiveness of politics is unprofessional and a recipe for disaster and failure. Regardless of political party there should be an expectation that elected officials serve the collective best interests of American citizens. Practical common sense legislation shouldn’t be difficult. And if they can’t work together to reasonably compromise, communicate and get their job done they should resign and let someone else get the job done.

Saving jobs through tariffs is foolish. A job is a means to an end. The US instead needs to focus on resources. Tariffs make it harder for businesses to acquire raw material commodities for the production of goods. Free market capitalism is an internally regulating system, with few externalities.
So one thing that might be a bit morbid that I am curious about is to what extent the fact the MAGA-crowd did not adhere to Covid restrictions/vaccinations and thus a disproportionate amount of conservative-leaning voters passed away influences the electorate. People didn't think Roe would ever be overturned either. With a trifecta, it seems likely that GOP would be willing to break the filibusterer and it's possible they could arm twist enough to get all members to vote for it. They have much better cohesion than the dems do.

If those GOP states sue other states or abortion clinics on the grounds that they are committing homicides, they could take it up to the SCOTUS and the 6-3 conservative majority could agree that any abortion is a homicide. That will supersede any state-level protections for abortion and make them void, nationwide.
