Maps of underground workings can be hard to find, especially when it comes to smaller low budget 1800's mines like this one. On screen maps is something I've always wanted to incorporate into the channel and I believe this episode is a step in the right direction.

Abandoned & Forgotten Places
Documenting abandoned mines like never before!
Let's take abandoned mine exploring to the next level!
With your support you can help make this the best abandoned mine exploring channel on RU-vid!
Shot entirely in 4K! ...so, turn up those video settings!
On this channel we go deep... REALLY DEEP into abandoned mines and tunnels all throughout the western United States. We researched some of the harder to find mines and hiked or 4x4 back into them to explore and reveal their hidden secrets. Many of these remote locations are filled with cool artifacts, antiques and unique geology that will have you guessing as to why the old prospectors worked so hard to find gold, silver, and other minerals.
A&FP moves just a bit slower as compared to other mine exploring channels. Gly discusses why the miners chose these sites and he points out the geology and minerals that got them excited. Veins of quartz filled with gold and silver made many men lose sleep in the 1800’s and early 1900’s and modern prospecting still does to this very day.
DANGERS? Oh yes, there’s allot of dangers associated with old mines. Un-exploded dynamite, blasting caps, bad air, bats, spiders, and snakes all find their home in abandoned mine shafts and tunnels. Oh, and let’s not forget rotting timbers, flooded passages and collapsing rock!
Gly takes abandoned mine exploring seriously with all the proper safety equipment, training, and experience necessary to do this activity as safe as possible but that doesn’t mean we can’t have a bit of fun along the way. “Gly”, your host and his band of crazy characters “Old Bob” (Gly’s Jeep), “Quackers” (Gly’s duck) and “Bobbie” (Gly’s hula girl) are sure to brighten your day with their comments and silly antics. Heck, they may even give you a chuckle or two.
Just like Saturday morning cartoons before the internet was invented, Abandoned and Forgotten Places uploads each Saturday at 7:00AM PST. (that’s 10:00AM for you eastern folks) so don’t forget to click that subscribe button and bell icon to receive notifications of new episodes!
Please LIKE, SHARE, SUBSCRIBE and COMMENT! All these things help grow our channel and your financial support helps us find new locations and helps put fuel into “Old Bobs” tank. Old Bob, thanks you!
Ok, now for the ugly stuff...
WARNING
Abandoned mines and ruined structures have many hazards and can severely injure or even kill you. Do not attempt to copy or re-enact situations or scenarios seen in this video. Stay Out and Stay Alive: • Gly Says... STAY OUT S...
NOTICE This video and all commentary therein including comments by the viewer is for entertainment purposes only and not intended to be instructional.
Whew! You made it this far? Good for you!
Now enjoy the channel!

As a 'map guy' and former draftsman, I totally appreciate the maps and diagrams. For you to have them inside is a win win. I love how you mashed up the 2 maps. Not only gave me a sense of remoteness but also scale. Have you tried Google Earth pro and imported kmz. You can get a 3d track that might show the workings a bit more 3d. Not sure if a gps app would work underground or not. Like a bike route tracker.

Hey, I love the way you display the map in this video. The only thing I'd add is black outline so it will be visible when the background is light. This can be done very easily in photoshop assuming you already a map with removed background.

This is probably how I'd do a mine. I'd be really miserly with the dynamite and make it a little too small and I wouldn't want to haul all that rock out so I'd gob too much. 😁

Yeah I agree with you Gly, it definitely is best to keep quiet about a mine that’s still open. It would be a shame for a mine that is hidden to most mine explorers like you end up being a no-entry mine. Especially for those who have explored it yet.

Hi Gly. I like the map overlay much better than last week. A few seconds doesn't block as much. I also agree with you to keep the "explorers" from trashing the mine. You know the type, graffiti, beer or pop cans, etc. I hate people like that, don't you? My husband and I found a mine in southeast Utah. We ended up going inside and it was pristine. Only went in a few hundred feet. But it was cool to see. It went on further but we weren't properly outfitted, so we went back out. Take only pictures, leave only footprints was our motto. And should be everyone's. Can't tell you how many camping trips I've done with my family and picked up other people's trash. But keep safe, Gly, keep hydrated with electrolytes. Heat exhaustion is nothing to fool with. I'm a Retired nurse with many years experience, so be safe. Great video. 👍 BTW, I laughed when you saw the hole you opened up from the inside and said, "I'll be damned!" Definitely a Murphys Law sort of thing, huh? 😆 🤣

Heat? I'm in the middle of winter. I can tell you that I'm experiencing the Antarctica melt and this new cold air coming from Antarctica is really freezing. This air is like nothing I've experienced ever before. I'm not sure if this cold is going to make the worst summer of all time or if summer will be mild. It looks like gly is running out of clean fresh air in that mine. Antarctica has released a whole lot of clean fresh air but it will take a while to get to gly.

Nice Video work, I had a Mining claim in Nye County/Esmerelda County meaning my mine shaft crossed into Esmerelda county My mine was named 'The Yellow Aster Mine' I think they named it because the tailings were mostly yellow looking. When I first filed the claim I noticed that the people of Tonopah used most of these mine shafts in the area off of Radar Road as trash dumps, mine had 3 washing machines and a dishwasher at the bottom of the 300 foot shaft. two years later BLM from the Tonopah office went to my mine which was located off of Radar Road informed me I had to have a Bat cage installed, He was from the environmental office, I could not afford a $15,000 dollar bat cage so I let the mine go and BLM destroyed the shaft and filled it with foam and then back filled it with dirt. I have never found a mining map like what you show in your prior videos all I know it was worked in 1908 and the worked stopped in 1952 that was from the Nye county office where I found this information, I also had to go to the Goldfield in Esmerelda County office to get other information since my mine crossed into their county, so in reality I had two claims. Later I was sent a letter from the Reno mining and environmental office in Reno that they are in the process of back filling abandon mines due to safety issues, the letter goes on to say they are attempting to back fill 100 mines a year I assume they don't want tourist with ATV's will not fall into a mine shafts. I did find out that BLM did not start recording abandon mines in Nevada until 1972 so from what their office informed me I was trying to get the history of my Mine 'The Yellow Aster Mine'.

“Gly”: People have been telling me that my bucket has a personality of its own and that it’s been making comments about its own personal experiences as a bucket. Honestly, I have no idea what people are seeing or talking about. 🤷‍♂️

No problem glad we helped you on the info. neat explore and liked the timbering, so authentic. You ought to bring electrolyte powder with you or put it in your water as you hike up these steep elevations. Maybe I'll send you some. that would help you so much in the heat. love ya and take care. Happy Trails.

Marvellous job on that map on map overlay thingy. I bet you noticed that the one map showed a shaft where the mine layout said "winze", right? You sound so tired, I can understand you didn't want to go after that ...

GLY,,, Another MASTERPIECE video of yours. Some of your videos should be displayed in the Smithsonian institution along side Lenarndo DE Vincas MONA LISA . Lenard himself would probably cry and the Mona Lisa would have a wider smile,, just saying. I love the layout of the map and distinctive feature you had to explain yourself to give us a better understanding of the mine. As for the saying on the pail in Old Bob if you were in that scene with the chair they would need a fire water tank truck to cool u down🤣🤣🤣🤔🤪. Your ideas every week are to be admired for such outstanding creativity. I am sure your fans and supporters would agree with me. This mine has many awesome features for u to explore even if you r half the size in there. Looking forward to more amazing adventures from your channel. Your big supporter, me As always A BIG THANK YOU,,,GLY.. I Hold such admiration for your adventitious.

“Gly”: Thanks Tina! Just like at a roller coaster park there’s a sign outside this mine that said “no admittance if your over four feet tall”. Lol Oh, my aching back! 😰
