As individuals they are absolute charming , in their own way. Together, they are simply marvelous. The two’s great performer/entertainer- Frank Sinatra/Dean Martin. They’ll always be remembered. A delightful video.Thank you.
They looked, sounded & acted like two mischievous very close brothers from the same parents. It was magic and fun when these two ones got together on stage.
It is amazing to me where Sinatra found the time for making dozens of pictures, hundreds of recordings plus his appearances on radio and TV, plus Vegas, Reno, Atlantic City, world tours, charities, even producing and directing, businessman, etc, etc. Truly amazing.
Didn’t mean to disturb🙂 I believed people who loved theirs work, they didn’t considered as a job. They’re more focused on achieving their goals/dreams. They’re hardworking people. In the Sinatra case.. he seems v much like so, plus he’s been known how he enjoys spending time w his pals/friends. Most of his work times.. was w his friends. Could it be that’s why/how’s. In returns, he’s reached most of his goals. Well deserved all his successes. He’ll always be remembered. 😊Have a lovely day.
Gives you a definite lift to be able to go back in time like this as it's all gone to pot nowadays. We have nothing like this kind of talent anymore...😒
@@carltrotter7622 Sounds like a fun time, I hope you're enjoying the beauty that Scotland has to offer! I didn't forget about your comment you posted fairly recently on one of my videos, right now I am having difficulties with RU-vid and my computer and will update you on that comment thread whenever I do what you suggested because that's top priority. Take it easy mate and enjoy your leisure!
Thank you for uploading this, big fan of the Dean Martin show, my 85 year old grandfather watched back in the past eras and enjoyed watching this also. Was a blast back to the past, cheers!
These two were the greatest of all times. Always watched tons of re-runs with my parents. "What is America To Me"....."all races and religions". wow I think this little clip should be spread throughout social media and beyond. I think people forgot what America is.
Frank could never really get a TV show off the ground. Dean failed at a dhow of his own around the same time, but he didn't hit it big on TV until about 1965, with the Dean Martin Show.
Dean's first show was The Dean Martin Variety Show, which lasted 1 year. He didn't want to do another show, preferred movies and night club acts. When he was offered the show, he made outrageous demands and to his surprise, it was accepted. Highest paid performer in the world for a time. Sinatra didn't have the same kind of easy charm and friendliness.
@@susantunbridge4612 Dino received a lot of RCA stock in the deal. He only wanted to work one day a week and stand ins were at rehersals. Dean wanted the spontaneity of being with the guests only one time and some great stuff resulted from it. Frank never fared well with TV, but Dino's personality, playfulness and doing things off the cuff, well suited him for the roll. And I think Dino had more of a way of interacting with women than Frank had. AND......Dino was naturally funny as hell, whereas Frank was not.
Dean made alot of quips about the split and about Jerry throughout his career. He just couldn't keep Jerry's name from his lips. It tells me one thing. He missed him
At 10:50 Dean Martin mentions a movie he did with Marlon Brando called The Young Lions . I read that DM credits his success in that post Jerry Lewis dramatic movie to Brando helping him . On the other hand I read that Frank Sinatra had done an earlier movie with Brando called Guys and Dolls and had a strong dislike for Brando for various reasons while DM got along fine with Brando . I am surprised that Sinatra even allowed the mention of The Young Lions and Marlon Brando on HIS show !
Sinatra and Brando may not have hit it off due to egos, perhaps? Whatever the reason, Frank was Dino's friend and so he was always very supportive, so it was natural for him to be okay with Dino promoting his first dramatic role.
Heyo to the Dean Martin Estate, I wanted to ask, is there a listed reason Dean never recorded "They'll Never Believe Me"? It's such a great arrangement and Dean kills it! Interestingly, Frank also never officially recorded it.
This might sound silly but i would have loved to hear frank sing hard rock, imo he,s hands down the best male voice ever, just wicked curious to see how he,d sound.
It certainly would have been interesting. However, Sinatra had no time for rock music, saying that he simply didn't understand the genre! Dino too was not a admirer either, disliking The Rolling Stones and The Beatles for starters! They came from an age where the crossover of music styles by artists was unusual and virtually unheard of. It didn't stop Sinatra inviting modern artists to work on his two Duets albums though!
U mean those who died in the 80s, 90s , supposedly back then there were no warning labels , smoking causes cancer ! Until warned in the 70s , also no one thought about addiction to the tobacco or cared , kind of sad how cigarettes kill, but as long as it makes money , tobacco companies could care less . Lots of golden age actors , singers , comedians who smoked died of lung cancer or some form of cancer, most could have lived longer lives .
@@mellopez1859The famed “surgeon general’s warning” was mandated on cigarette packs and in advertising starting in 1964. Television advertising ended in 1970.
What a pity this was shot and recorded on early video tape which has atrocious quality. Further, this seems to be videoed off a TV screen. They should have shot on 16mm sound on film but the logistics and cost would have been tremendous. Not important enough for that, unlike a presential speech of the day.
the show had no production.....and was put together on the fly...no wonder it flopped....HOWEVER this is around 1957....and Sinatra was nearing or at his vocal peak.....some songs on these shows are sung the best he would ever sing them live.....
Someone uploaded your video as they have been doing with mine and blocked out your watermark. It’s one thing if they have the footage themselves, but they blatantly downloaded and stole this one. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-UCNobuw-460.html
Yes that is pretty shallow. But I guess we don't own the original material so it's hard for us to kick back. I might start dropping subliminal ones in the middle of my uploads..!!!
@@deanmartinassociation I'm doing the exact same thing. I suggest just adding one in the center with your name and branding and it is hard to block that out without ruining the video in some capacity. It is unfortunate we don't have technical ownership, but I think there can be some leniency for me due to the fact I transform the footage in some way or another with improving the audio and visual quality as best as I can. I digress as it's a complicated matter, I do however wish you the best of luck. Maybe RU-vid will come through for us. Keep up the great posts and take it easy!
Whoever is responsible for sticking on the digital clock cannot under any circumstances be regarded as a fan of Frank Sinatra or Dean Martin, or of anything of historical value. It is desecration.
It was a time code recording clock (TCR) added by the studio itself for timing purposes that ran concurrently with the actual broadcast version. It was a standard procedure for all production companies and studios for many decades. What we have uploaded here is a copy of the studio's tape of the show.
