The Franklin Expedition to find the Northwest Passage 

HMS Terror, launched in 1813, was part of the ill-fated 1845 Franklin Expedition to find the Northwest Passage. Trapped in Arctic ice, the ship was abandoned in 1848, and the crew perished. The wreck was discovered in 2016.
HMS Erebus, launched in 1826, was a Royal Navy bomb vessel later repurposed for Arctic exploration. Alongside HMS Terror, she was part of Sir John Franklin's 1845 expedition to find the Northwest Passage. Both ships became icebound, and the crews perished. The wreck of HMS Erebus was discovered in 2014 in the Canadian Arctic, shedding light on the mysterious fate of the expedition.
