Yes ! Decade ago I went to Croatia with my hubby , we ended up accomodated in house of croatian couple , they lived in Australia , only came for summer. I learned complete history of Yugoslavia and complete history of Australia. What a holiday...I was in Makarska riviera..❤

A bit late to the game, but I still wanted to add that this is so inspiring & not only for solo travelers. Just back from a trip to Slovenia with my boyfriend. While we had a good time, he remarked that he would like more connection with others. This could be it! Great to have geared this concept specifically for over 50s. My parents are member of a similar organisation, called Servas & as a family we have met many people through Servas over many years. In fact, later today I will meet up with my late mother’s friend from Florida, who we met through Servas in the late 80’s! Can you believe it?!

Amazing idea for all age groups and his father being such a big factor in this idea and it helps a lot. I thought Peter looked very much like your ex husband for a moment thought it was at first glance amazing how we all heave a twin somewhere.... All age groups can benefit from this sort of get together.

What a spectacular concept! My husband and I travel internationally some doing missions. Sometimes we stay in an Airbnb. On our trip to Northern Ireland we stayed in an Airbnb, made such a great connection with our host. This is such a wonderful idea. I have been solo traveling 19 years nonstop on my own. I LOVE it!!!!!!! I now teach it. There is nothing like following your dreams! Life is a fun as you believe it to be! PS best anti ageing out there! :) I look 20 years younger than my age. (I promise :) lol!

if you wait to go with someone else you will miss out on so much and so many opportunities. Don’t be afraid, start small and get comfortable being with yourself and seeing what this big old world has to offer. I learned that myself in my late 40’s and now long retired and in my mid 70’s still traveling the world every chance I get either on my own or joining a tour group. You won’t regret it……🙂

@@WillowNook the loneliness and fear are not real. I wrote a blog post on this. It is mindset. I show people how to shift beliefs. I’ve traveled all around the world and felt incredible. I only expect good things to happen and that’s what I manifest. Fear does the opposite. When you solo travel you are so focused on the wow moments that you step into bliss. And you can’t feel fear and bliss at the same time. If you google solo travel expert, you can read a blog I wrote on loneliness and fear there. Life has to be lived in 10/10 every day! Solo travel gives you that in buckets! 😂

I’ve traveled alone to Europe and it was lovely. The only problem is the rip-off “single supplement” which i find totally offensive. IMHO.

I also enjoy solo travel in groups like “Carvana” great trip to Panama. I called it a grown up field trip. Will check out this option.

I love this. My husband and I are 74 and in good health, but we both became ill with a bad respiratory virus recently on a trip to Europe. It made me aware of our vulnerability when traveling at this age. While our hotel staff in the Netherlands was helpful, there was little they could do for us. We just had to wait it out. We had to set up a doctor visit, pharmacy access and I had to get food for him (my husband became ill first.) I like the concept of having a host who is familiar with the surroundings and knows how to navigate these kinds of issues. Not all of us like touring with groups. So this is a great concept.

Yes I’d like to hear too! I find DFW Metroplex very suburbia! Think I’d like to live in downtown Houston where you and your mother lived!!! Seemed perfect for older “still with it” older with tons of walkable safe restaurants/bars/social life!!!! True????? Should I make the leap before it’s too late to enjoy??????
