Do you listen to tekken/tech/whatever? My entire school isn obsessed with it. And they keep playing that one footbal(soccer) song but instead of the "döbdöbdöb..." they keep chanting "Ausländer raus!" over and over. And for actual like.. that stuff they listen to stuff like something about Thüringen and how life is great there. (Btw school is ending soon and I'm a tenth grader and we ge to do a school prank officially by the school and it was today and it was awesome)

There are a couple of genres I've not found someone I liked within, but it's also likely because I haven't listened enough. But yeah, I have specific things I like but they're not genre-specific. Frankly, I think it's true of most people, there are baroques/classiques pieces that are universally loved for example, when someone doesn't like a whole genre, either they have a psychological block because of a few bad experience, or they don't like something integral to the whole genre, and even in that last case it's rare they wouldn't be at least a few exceptions. I think most people if they gave it a serious try, would love almost every type of music, just not every artist (far from it of course).

Country and Rap are the two most controversial genres. I’ve lived on the west coast where almost everyone said “I like all genres except maybe country,” on the East coast, rural, it was the opposite, everyone liked all genres except for rap.

i think its the cultral divide and what they talk about. Rap is more relatable to be people in denser populated places while country talks more about rural lifestyles. I like to say you can judge if some one likes country music by the size of their backyard

Okay but I genuinely don’t understand people who specifically listen to only one type of music, because there’s good songs in every genre 😭 Like, if it’s good, it’s good. Well, for me, I only really listen to music while I drive/shower, and I can't really relate to rock or especially rap, and I don't like pop. Grew up with my dad listening to country, and as a writer those songs resonate with me. So, country it is. Or video game music when I'm writing essays because I'm a nerd like that and need the motivation. :P

@@jonsnow7844 Well, "Good bye Fare-e-well" was quite well known way before the game came out, so I can tell some of them have not been composed for the game for sure. Maybe they composed a few ? Most shanties are in public domain, so I'm not sure why they'd bother composing so many :)

I think any modern composer with a deadline and strict specifications to not modernize it in any way would get fed up way before reaching that number :)

"I listen to everything" in my experience generally means "I've got preferences, but also, I've just never had much controll over what music is being played so I've learnt to at least listen to most of it without conplaint" For example, I have preferences towards videogame music, j-pop, j-rock, bubblegum pop and synth pop. But I will listen to and maybe enjoy (but not always) just about anything ranging from club music, hip hop, heavy metal, goth, country, punk, and just about anything else someone could stick on a speaker I have no controll over.

I usually say "i like music that scratches my brain just right" just to avoid being like this lmao. I love asking people to play the music of their choice cause i end up discovering so much stuff i fall in love with. Im constantly looking for new stuff to listen to, and i love being able to share music with different kind of people, so its led me to be the kind of person who listens to a bit of everything. But if left to discover new music on my own, it does often tend to be intense pop or alternative music.

As a person who listens to everything, I don't like turning on my music and answer what I want to listen to, because I don't have the ability to tell how niche that is for other people. I really don't know if you will think it's in a category of "very popular", "just music", "well that's... interesting" or "how is that even considered music". Also I'm the type that finds one song or new author and listens to that for hours for several days/weeks. I know you don't want that. Recently I had to stop myself from replaying the song because it kept making me cry and I've got a headache from crying... And it was in genre I thought I don't really like.

What's so special about it? Except maybe how a lot of extratone is really bad. Luckily there's exceptions like Kobaryo but that's more on hypertone side.

Nobody likes EVERYTHING. It's impossible to like EVERYTHING. I always say: "I'm *open* to every type of music." And that's true. However...that doesn't mean, I have to *listen* to everything. Much less that I *like* everything...and at any time. So, if you _(e.g.)_ ask: "hey, wanna listen some metal?", I may say: "sure." But if you then play BURZUM, I may not be pleased with that choice. That's not to say, I won't ever be pleased with BURZUM...it can just mean that, right now, in this very moment, I am not in the mood for BURZUM. But I may be on another day.

I listen to everything! Classic Rock, Alternative, Metal, Classical, Pop, R&B, Hip Hop, Techno, Dubstep, Country. Mostly older stuff so anything from the 1970s up to 2010s. I also have random newer stuff from like 2015+ on my spotify. Whatever slaps too because i'm also a Basshead.

There are some genres that are really rare for me (rap/country/electronic, R&B), but in general I have at least a few songs from most genres in my playlist, I think? I had moments where my main playlist on shuffle goes from like Norah Jones' "Don't Know Why" to Slipknot's "Spit It Out" to Bob Dylan and I realize that's probably not exactly standard for most people.
