On October 15, 1996, the second album of Jeru The Damaja titled Wrath Of The Math was released and was the follow-up to the rapper's debut album The Sun Rises In The East. Produced by pioneer hip hop producer DJ Premier (who I like to respectfully refer to as Preemo from time to time and produced albums with longtime rapper the late Guru as 1/2 of GangStarr [R.I.P. Guru]), the pacing of each track on Wrath Of The Math was near flawless, and the message in each one in question was epic. It is for those two reasons--besides being produced by Preemo--that, of the the two first albums by Jeru The Damaja, I was more partial to Wrath Of The Math, courtesy of the first track on that album, The Frustrated N****. The Frustrated N**** was my favorite song of the entire album, and for a long time, I ruminated over the possibility of somehow composing my own cover of it. However, in order to avoid resorting to using that variation of the dreaded N-word, a replacement was needed.
The name Narwa (the name of a boss character, or Elder Dragon that appears in the action MMOPRG Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak) was used to replace the N-word To me, it just made sense: Narwa begins and ends with the same letters and has the same number of letters. The last thing I want is to violate RU-vid's TOS by using the N-word in any context, despite it being part of the original name of the song from a historical standpoint .So The Frustr8ed Narwa it is. I am, without any doubt, significantly more satisfied with the result I received from composing this Reboot of The Frustr8ed Narwa and if this cover somehow falls short of the expectations of those who listen to it, at least I T.R.I-ed.
