The pressure release methods you mention will not drain the moisture in the tank. The tank should have a drain port at the bottom of the tank to drain moisture.

As several folks have mentioned - you should use the bottom release valve. Water will pool at the bottom of the tank and will not come out if you use the other methods to drain the tank. Still a great video however!

I must say I'm disappointed that you didn't point out the best way to drain the tank like others have posted about . You showed 2 of the worst way to drain it out . If your tank does not have a bottome drain valve , move onto one that does . It's a necessary feature

I suppose thats your opinion which is fine . But its the best way to realease pressure and keep the tank dry .....less chance of rust which is the enemy of a tank ofvany size including industrial use . It is just good pratice , and so easy . Bit your welcome to make your own choices , but my opinion is you still showed 2 of the worst ways to empty a tank . The emergency relief valve ? And to hold down the moisture trap for a couple of mins ? That needs to be done in a few seconds for the only purpose of draining the water out . And thats not only my opinion, other have pointed your ways out . Please do a update and correction in your next video . Otherwise i like a good deal of FSM videos . But that was a miss

For about $400, I bought a professional air compressor that would be used for something like a construction site. It takes up a footprint of about 20 inches square, and not too tall. It is also very quiet. The other benefit is the size of the tank, which prevents it from constantly cycling. My old compressor was so loud when refilling the tank that I felt like I was disturbing my neighbors late at night, so I rarely worked after 10 p.m. Another reason to leave your tank valve open when not in use is because it is a pressure vessel that, in the unfortunate event of a fire, could become a bomb waiting to go off. Okay, if you have a fire you have bigger problems, but I don’t want to add to it by risking a tank explosion.

Just use the bottom valve to empty the tank its much faster.

To get ALL the moist/water out of the system, you remove the plug on the bottom of the tank. Each day when i have cleaned the airbrush, i remove that plug. This will keep your tank dry and avoid building up rust on the inside of the tank.A 1 minute job and your compressor and tank will be living a lot longer.

Hi guys, furstly I wish you all a Very Happy New Year, this was another great episode, with regards to draining my compressor, mine also has a release valve on the bottom, best regards from Australia

Tim, does your compressor have a drain tap at the bottom of the tank like a professional compressor ?

There should be a drainage valve under the tank and it is extremely important to unscrew it from time to time, all the moisture that is trapped inside will be released and that will prevent the tank from rusting.

I bought that compressor like a week ago... have not really had a chance to use it yet, but it seems nice.

If the tank has a drain plug at the bottom, and a bit of clearance, putting in a 90 degree fitting and a ball valve makes draining the water a trivial task that you will do more often because it's easy. I've done this on every compressor I've owned, adding a pipe extension to bring the valve out to a convenient location as needed.

The smallest compressors you mentioned now shut off when your not releasing air. Some even have three pressure settings. I can't speak too lifespan as i haven't ordered one yet.

That's good to know. It's been a long time since I've used one, so I'm going on some admittedly dated experience. I like the features of a larger compressor. YMMV -TK
