The Fuji X-T5 & GR IIIx Combo. 

Really appreciate your perspective and willingness to share how you are refining your kit and the thought you put into the cameras that enable your art. I am working through a similar process and good to know the xt5 has met your needs as both a photographer and videographer. Thanks you for creating such an inspiring channel!

I just returned from a trip to South Africa with an XT4, two Fuji zooms, a fast 35mm prime, and a GR II as a backup or for when carrying a full kit wasn’t possible. Found myself shooting with the Ricoh a lot more than I had anticipated!

Your RU-vid presentations so well done, I will say, you are turning into a videographer. I do like your street stills, and those too are getting better all the time, but you are gaining an edge on street and travel by means of slicker videos. Simply my opinion, as observing trends in street and travel on RU-vid we find numerous videos, growing in numbers day by day, but those are not always wrapped in a decent presentation and video filming + editing. You evidently are spending many hours in this. I will say you are growing skills towards videographer perfection. Follow your heart. I love the street vibe, and will stick to stills Only as a kid did I use a movie camera. Street stills may be your passion as well. Just saying I noticed the well done videos of late. The quality of that video was amazing. It had an emotional pull that leaves you yearning to go back to a place and time you’ve never been to.

The main thing that I love about video being in more demand, is that as a hobby photographer who doesn't shoot video. I can get a wider range of second hand cameras for a good price as the working photographers need to upgrade to keep up with the demand of video 😅

You know what, I've often thought that about the first problem you posed when watching a photographer's youtube channel - are we seeing the 'best bits' of their street photography because they were filming at that moment, or do we see worse bits but the best individual photos? It's one of the reasons why I really like watching the gopro flow videos - the filming itself may not be great, but you're pretty much guaranteed that the photographer hasn't 'missed' a photo because they were filming rather than photographing!

The GR is becoming the new X100V

It's cool to see you come to this because you're the reason why I picked up a GRIIIx and I loved having it pocketed almost everywhere I go. I'm looking to replace my Nikon with a Fuji and was looking at reviews for the X-T5 and lo and behold, you're doing the same two camera combo.

Great vid - have been using the GR series for 15 years. They just keep getting better.

This channel is the reason why I want to go and plan a day to go shoot some street photography.

Did a recent trip to mexico city. Not filming for a channel but I brought along a Ricoh Gr21 and 10 rolls. Pure bliss.

I don't often do video and but love street photography. I went minimal for a trip to Scotland with my GRIII half a year ago. Unfortunately half way through the trip, I tripped down some castle stairs and messed up the GRIII with an askew lens and the auto lens cap screwed. I need to send it in for repair, but I'm concerned the the repair cost would come close to the cost of a new one. But, I think it would make a great compliment to my XPro3. Great video! Love the camera bag!

It is always a great idea to have a quality compact as a backup. On a trip to Germany a few years ago, I had my Canon 77D with me as well as three lenses. I decided to leave my Canon G1 X at home. Well, a couple of days into my trip, my main lens (18-135) stopped working. I had to get by with a 10-22 and a 55-250. I did end up using my phone a lot, but it would have been nice to have the G1 X. I now have a G5XII that I take with me for when I want to go out without a lot of gear, or if it is needed as a backup.

A very timely video for me , Faisal, thanks. Planning a summer riverboat cruise trip to Europe with my X-E4 or X-T4 or both , or ? Photos only, no video. Should take my Fuji 35mm f2, or 23 1.4 version II. !6-55 might be to heavy , 18-55 probably best & maybe the 70-300. Lot of walking about in August heat, but not too concerned with weight, even as a senior. Will go out the door with one camera during the day. Some of this has to stay home. 3 lens max.

Really want a video on the sigma 18-50. Have been contemplating on a light and compact zoom for my xe4 and would love to see your thoughts on it, and of course more pictures haha.

That Wotancraft bag really is amazing I've took it with me to Amsterdam this February and I was able to take with me my Sony A7III with a 35 f2 and 50 2.5 and plenty of extra space for another small lens and some accessories. Really liked the minimalist approach to traveling with a camera and not bringing too much stuff like most of us are usually guilty of.

This video was fantastic. Loved the editing on the car videos. My next camera is for sure going to be an XT-5.

For light traveling I use Ricoh Gr3x and for traveling with smaller backpack I use Canon R with 14mm ultrawide (with software crop 24mm) and 35mm 1.4 (with crop about 55mm), so i have theoretically 4 different lenses.and if I want an additional native 50mm 1.8

Nice compact travel kit. I don’t do video so I usually have one digital and one film camera when I go out. Great video, as usual!

This issue I came across whilst in Paris, I wanted to film my photography but in the worry of missing photos I only filmed 2 clips and one just isn't good so I'm stuck to 1 but mainly after that I forgot to film so I'm looking to pickup a go pro to shove on the camera so I'll constantly be reminded that I have to film too.

I had to rewind and turn on captions to clarify that you said "60-year-old back" WTF? I'm nearly 43 and I assumed you were younger than me... congrats! and I love the channel, btw, it's one of the few I stop what I'm doing to just watch and soak it in.

Solid set up. I use a Fuji XT5 for photography & Sony a6400 for video (As much as i want to get rid of this camera because of the color science, i can't because its video specs are solid for my needs.)

Legit been eying Ricoh GRIII X to compliment my Leica Q2. Having something so small like the Ricoh sounds amazing for street.

This really is a point! I try to „solve“ this problem by mounting a GoPro on my camera, so that all essential dials and buttons are visible and it then is a mixture between first and third person POV. 🤔 Not a trivial issue for sure. Nice video though…. And nice camera. 😬😬😬

Why not get an XE4 with a 27mm 2.8 instead of the GR? It will still be small and light but you will also have the option to use X mount lenses if the XT-5 is out of order or just too big for the moment.

This is why I use an xs10 it’s great for both. If I was doing both professionally I probably would go with an xh2s. Yes you loose the buttons but I rented one over the holiday and my lord that stacked sensor is unbelievable! Also I LOVE the sigma 18-50, it’s an incredible lens.

No there’s actually absolutely Nothing wrong with you! I had a backpack filled with options. Instead like yourself, I pulled out my Ricoh GR lllx. So I relate deeply. Aware that everything will be provided right in front of my face when I stick to a decision & trust that it will go as planned.

I like your setup a lot. The issue is that the sigma 18-50 doesn't have IS, and the kit lens does. That's a nice thing to have when shooting handheld video without a gimbal

Nice video. But wouldn't the GR III with 18mm make more sense? When you have the XT5 with the 35mm, it would be great to switch immediately to the 18mm. The GR iiiX is pretty close to the 35mm lens.

This is why I bought the XT4 and Xpro3. XT4 is a great hybrid video system and Xpro3 is a great run and gun street. The downside is xpro 3 is not as pocketable as the Gr3

I make a concerted effort to always pack my bag, then take out half :)

I never stress about it. I know I can always make STILLS, from the video footage.

Nice. When you said film this moment, I literally thought you meant using film rather than making a video. I’ve been watching too many film YT channels lately. LOL I’m super curious if Ricoh’s next GR has upgraded video specs. I view a small 28mm point-and-shoot a tool to capture life’s moments, whether it’s a still or video. My dream would be a GR that does video as well as it does stills.

XS10 for the win! King camera that does not scare folks. I am intrigued to be hearing about a possible XS20 (same MP but XT5 processors

I almost always travel with just one camera (and my cellphone) I bring just 2 or 3 lenses. Sometimes less is more.

Struggling with the video/photo swap myself to try and make higher quality street photography vlogs. I'm currently trying to find the balance in gear and how much effort is really required in pre to make something worthwhile in post. It's hell and I feel your pain.

Is the image quality of the xt5 that much better than the xt4? I know it has a higher pixel count but I thought that only mattered when you're zooming way in or printing enormous prints of your photos. How else is it better? Would love to get more info

Why not pair the XT5 (for video) with X100V, that's my combo mainly.

My solution was to get a X-T1 with the OG 27mm to pair with my X-T5 and the 35mmF2 or 18mm 1.4.

Hi Faisal. Thank you for your video. I wish the XT 5 would have an option for a battery grip. I know you are travelling “light”, but I would like to have the battery grip for portrait sessions that may be scheduled for a full day of shooting. Love the Wontancraft bag. Bearing in mind that the size of the Fuji Xe with an F2 lens is identical to the GRIII, why not stick with just one system? Don't you think it's more productive than having three different brands?

All I want is an X100 but with 35mm instead of 23mm. But until then my XE1 and 7artisans 35mm1.2 mark2 does the job well.

I’ve been contemplating photography/filming for months now and I have no experience at all. As a novice, I’m not sure what to get for a hybrid camera. XT 5 or Sony a7iv? Worst comes I can always sell it.
