I don't see where the issues Gab is having here. Look at the body language of the players Ziyech and Pulisi, look at Tuchel himself. I saw his body language in that midweek game and it was clear something is wrong. Werner said it, Lukaku said it, Pulisic said he doesn't like playing out of position, CHO left because of it, Ziyech wanted to leave. Sterling said he's a winger but was played as a target man..... Tuchels tactics were a problem and it was evident that he had no clue on how to change
You don’t see it because it doesn’t make sense. Marcotti is way off on this one. There not even considering that maybe Boehly just wants people he hired himself in charge. He replaced ever other major managerial role in the club, is it that surprising he was waiting for any opportunity to get a new manager for the football team as well?
@@757Bricksquad gabs point is that if you’re insisting of getting your guy, then do it earlier. Don’t hold out and then include the guy you intend to fire on your decisions. Like he said counter intuitive
@@newrecruit100 they've been owners for 100 days. They had a delayed transfer window due to sanctions. This might have been the earliest possible time for them to do it. Gab's saying both do it earlier AND its too early. he's just talking.
For context Tuchel has been going through some personal issue, I.e divorce. We often forget how thing like this will impact you in the workplace, football is no exception. There are always reason for certainty things, so maybe this could be good for Tuchel right now. Get himself sorted and self reflect and then back in football the next 6-12months
I wish him all the best going forward. Hopefully he can get his personal life back on track with a decent partner and be given another opp with a decent team. I think he is VERY good. Somehow, I think he will end up on his feet. What a tremendous break this is for Pochettino. He almost got landed in this mess!
But this is the key thing, they gave him a chance and were willing to work with him. But clearly it wasn't going to work, Boehly tried his best to make it work, remember he got rid of Granovskia and Petr Cech who were opposing his ideas, so I see the thinking here
So why wait till now? That's the issue. You spend 300m on players then fire the manager? If you don't like him get rid early when you have more choices for manager and they have a chance to implement thier system in the preseason. Not 5 games in the season when there's no practice time because you have games every 3 days.
@@russellward4624 it's not ideal, but say Chelsea keep Tuchel and the bad results just continue, right now there is still a lot of football left to play and opportunities to turn things around
@@russellward4624 spent 300m on players who can fit any team's style of play. I think they knew what they were doing. All the signed players can literally fit any style of play, can fit Graham Porter's style of play.
If we’re being honest, the only real surprise to me with regards to the new ownership is that Chelsea started the season with the same coach in Tuchel when history has proven that whenever new owners come in, they want to make their own managerial appointment and bring in somebody who they want as opposed to sticking with a coach from an outgoing regime.
That’s not the fucking point. Are Chelsea fans really this dumb ? Every big club can spend the money. It’s the idea of spending a ton of money to get a SPECIFIC MANAGERS PLAYER SELECTIONS TO FIT HIS PLAY STYLE. And then sack him not long after. Only to bring in another manager and have to probably spend big again if the players don’t meet his play style now all that money and roster Space is wasted. It’s really fucking simple to understand
The board picked Slolina, Chuku, Cesare, Cucu, Fofana, Zakaria Tuchel Sterling, Koulibaly, Auba he wanted De Ligt, Ake, & Kimpembe, Dembele. Tuchel was not really given full control
I think the new owners wanted a more exciting playing style. Even at their best level under Tuchel it wasn’t really exciting attacking football. This is why they wanted Ronaldo. For the excitement that comes with the big name player. They probably were hoping Tuchel would’ve left on his own when the team was bought but he didn’t. So the team regressing gave them an excuse to do what they wanted to do all along as far as the manager position.
they were looking for their own 9-0 defeat but they're chelsea so that wont happen but losing to zagreb is what the owners see as that but they don't know european football and zagreb is a good team in eastern europe...
@@russellward4624 classic we'll see what happens mentality and not knowing how the prem is and thinking by just spending money it would turn into results automatically because thats what happened with their baseball team the LA Dodgers...but european football is much different than baseball.
I think this idea of attacking football is overplayed. Liverpool and City if you watch them do not play attractive football. Why? Because teams majority of the time play low blocks and park the bus and the slow the game down. But do you know what the difference is? They’re effective because they the quality of players that will find a way. The problem at Chelsea is that the profile of players Chelsea have are just all Over the place. They don’t match and don’t really have that chance to try be cohesive because the squad is bloated. Tuchel is not to blame for lack of effective football. That’s on the recruitment and transfer policy.
@@newrecruit100 you’re not entirely wrong. Guardiola himself actually said all the manager really does is come up with a way for the team to get from the defensive end, to the midfield, to the offensive end. After that it’s up to the individual skill and creativity of the players to score. The players Chelsea have just haven’t clicked with each other in that way yet.
CFC were already behind because of sanctions. If they would have sacked Tuchel earlier, they would have been even further behind and had an even harder time getting transfers done. Besides if you look at the players they brought in, what manager wouldn't want those players? Not really sure why Gab is having such a hard time understanding this.
I think they just didn’t work well together. I thought they would give him 4-6 games to turn it around depending results because of all the $$ backing. What I don’t understand is why do people think crucurella was a weird signing? Chillwell was out majority of last year and we struggled badly and he can play lcb and etc. what I don’t get is not going in for a CAM /winger and a decent striker.
This is a key point. People keep describing these signings as TUCHEL signings. This is just wrong, there is no such thing as Manager signings they are all Club signings!
TT man management sucks. He to go. TT always has the attitude problem. Even at Dortmund he fell out with his bosses, at PSG same thing with director of football. His football was very diabolical towards the end. He had to go
Marcotti gives Boehly the benefit of the doubt...ahhh, well, that's nice. Class and Grace. Hey Todd! You're welcome to drag yourself to Marcotti's and explain yourself to him why you spent all that money; add to that a class on management because a lot of these cats have never had a real job in the private sector where firings happen all the time due to evaluations of character and performance. A lot of these pundits give themselves some airs...
Gab really let me down I always depend on him for objective insightful analysis yet he was biased towards tuchel shocking from gab he’s scaled back a bit and in this clip was more fair but overall Gab tuchel deserves a lot more criticism he was no angel. Tactically and behaviourally
Guys Tuchel lost the dressing room. Once you lose the dressing room there is no more "give him more time." He's got to go at that point. And from what I've seen, I'm pretty sure he lost the dressing room last season and didn't win them back over the summer.
Gabs, it doesn't have to make sense to you. Obviously this decision was made long before, Boehly and Tuchel just don't gell. The transfers filled in the gaps that needed filling, Aubamayang has Gabs screaming because he shares the same character as Tuchel , cautious, but the proof will be in the pudding, he is acting as if Aubamayang didn't go to Barcelona and show that he is still a world class striker. Tuchel was given a chance to show something, but the lack of fight and spirit in the team is telling and that comes directly from the manager. The team could not be allowed to get used to losing as it has been since the end of last season. Cut out the cancer now and get started and buy what you need in January. I wish Tuchel the best, but the new ownership will not accept the philosophy of playing not to lose, they have now shown they are here to play to win. The Boehly era has begun and they don't play around, the pundits will keep on blah , blahing without the responsibility of having to answer for their continual getting it wrong.
Mourinho's 2004 Chelsea winning team half the Squad were signings from Claudio Renieri the manager before him John Terry and Frank Lampard was signed by Renieri not Mourinho this has always how football has worked,so gab kicking up a stink about signings under tuchel and then sacking him is a stupid non-argument to fool casual fans who know no better...
@@PrezidentJafar i agree with you but you wrote "John Terry and Frank Lampard was signed by Renieri not Mourinho" so my response was correct as you implied that ranieri signed terry
Potter is representing all English coaches, so I hope he succeeds greatly. I hope him and Howe at Newcastle bring about a new Renaissance, creating a refreshing, exciting and dynamic image of English coaches
Was chelsea supposed to NOT make transfers because of a sporting director??? We have to allow the transition to take place. Tuchel was slowly deteriorating the club, I love him but when your leader has no idea what the team is doing then it's a clear sign he must go. He became frantic in matches, he had this inability to bring the best out of players and there's this weird vibe going on. Ziyech, mount, pulisic are still good players it's the coaches job to get them to their peak performance. I personally would've sacked Tuchel after west ham
I think Potter knew he was going to be the new Chelsea manager at least a month ago; the Cucerella signing looks like it was made at the request of Potter
@@TevinCampbell1723 are you serious come on it is mental to even consider that Potter was advising chelsea who to buy knowing he was going to take over after window shuts. Just lunacy.
@@dewiwilliams4821 In sports it's call tapping. Very Popular in American sports such as NBA, NFL etc. I'm not saying this is 100% true however it is not beyond expectation to say that Boehly was speaking with agents for Potter and being aware of his release clause. He could've gotten Potter at any point this season by paying the clause and was just waiting for Tuchel to slip up as we know Tuchel was never their man and they wanted their own appointment and not Roman's.
Always amazes me how naive pundits are. Decisions in life/business are often on the surface not rational.. It is likely that tuchel and Scot had a big argument with tuchel verbally abusing Scott, which prompted him to sack the German!
@@arindamdutta9371 @Robbo Interesting that you say this because there have been multiple sources who’ve said he gets very very angry sometimes…so maybe he blew up on them? I mean if his sideline demeanor is any indication of how he behaves behind the scenes then it’s not hard to imagine it
I heard Graham Potter wants head coach job not manager.... That would be great... Also, Chelsea need a very very good group of scouts and a very good DoF.
That is what tuchel wanted and had. Prior to the whole sanctions foolishness that is what ruin things for tuchel. He is a person who just wants to coach the team. When he was expected to fill all these other shoes it cause alot of mental fatigue.
lets make this clear. 1.A coach can't make everyone in the dressing room happy but professional players know this and they know when to take their chance. 2.Lukaku might have been a Tuchel signing. Not only was his performance terrible He was granting interviews and destroying the atmosphere in the dressing room. Sending him back to inter wasn't a Tuchel decision. The player didn't want to play for the club 3.Talking about Auba's age and salary is irrelevant.Everyone who watched Barcelona last season knows how dangerous Auba can be. 4.Broja needs a senior striker to learn from and Aubameng on the pitch can be that. 5.If the Chelsea board wants a new project, sacking Thomas Tuchel who is a serial winner is a gamble 6.A Project is not an excuse to miss out on the top 4. The owners might use that excuse if this season doesn't go well. That won't sit well with the Chelsea fans considering the fact that they had a manager who they knew was always going to keep them in the top 4. 7.For Todd Boehly this will be an all or nothing season. If things don't go well The fans will go absolute bonkers
Wow the disrespect to Aubameyang. He literally turned Barca's season around, 13 goals in 16 starts. Brace against Real Madrid, and put in great performances. Gab needs to stfu
Apart from the transfers Todd Boehly (intentionally or unintentionally) set up Tuchel to fail. No doubt, that teams had figured out Chelsea's style of play and that was frustrating! However, Tuchel needed the proper structure around him to succeed. Granovskaia, Cech and Buck were always going to leave and the new onwership should have firstly set about putting the management structure into place back in April/May at least shortlisting the candidates to take over the club's management positions. This would have helped them in the recruitment process and helped smooth over relationships between the coaching team and higher ups. From the offset Boehly looks a stark departure to Roman- he (Boehly) is more Hollywood loves the limelight whereas Roman was always quite and behind the scenes. It's going to be a strange time for the club; they've already made a misstep by appointing an 'ideas' man as oppposed to a proven winner. Let's hope Potter proves me wrong-but this fan base will turn quickly on him we are used to winning!
Recent Analysis: *agreed with the sacking of mourinho because he had enough time to fix the team and didn’t, left us at 10th space *agreed with the sacking of conte because he humiliated costa after he delivered us the PL (he could have been the better man and worked with costa or don’t let him go via a text) *agreed with the sacking of Frank because showed no tactical skills (outclassed by Shefiled Wednesday for crying out loud) ~BUT I do not agree with the sacking of Thomas. It’s ungrateful, illogical, and devastating. Most of these pundits talking about how he flexing about his CL and SC trophies: he deserves all the recognition because it was an elite accomplishment through the management of the club, players’ role and above all, Tuchel’s tactics. One manager that I felt deserved a long run especially for holding the club together while being a world class manager. TT: Class, composure, brilliant and forever a Chelsea LEGEND.
Gab stop right there, Lukaku was never TT's signing,he wanted Haaland,or Lewandoski, common it was clear to everybody that TT doesn't want Lukaku but Marina ,and I guess Cech migh have prevailed on him to take what was available since the Haaland deal was proving difficult to do. In fact,I guess it's the main reason TT would have rejected C.Ronaldo's signing cos he just got out of one saga.
*Watch this space 🤣* because both these guys will be eating their words sooner rather than later. Ornstein reports that this has been in the works since the preseason US tour; that Tuchel did not have nearly as much say in their recruiting process as these guys and others have speculated; and that they've been consulting with senior players at the club for a couple months. Gab and Jules have had a decidedly anti-Chelsea bias since early summer and they're just pissed off that Boehly and his board bolloxed their narrative 🤣 Graham Potter will run an operation based on the actual performance of his players. A meritocracy, something Tuchel very clearly did *not* do.
@@a_latif6158 Do we really need exceptional players or an exceptional team made up of good functional individuals who are willing to play for each other
Tuchel didn't need more time. Chelsea had been poor since February. Yet with new signings were showing zero sign of improving. Plus with his relationships falling apart. It was time to let go. A new man can take the excellent squad some where
Agreed you could see a mini meltdown happening in his daily interviews recently compared to his uber confident and eloquent interviews from the first 6 months..He had lost his way he was incapable of motivating the players and the 3 away losses and the manner of the defeats and style of ultra boring passive football set the writing on the wall, seen it before at Chelsea.
@@Bickle121 wouldn't say meaningless as it is not just about wearing out your welcome with ownership- lots to do with an approach and demeanor that has a limited shelf life with players and to an extent- inflexible tactics being found out. Both seem to apply.
Gab feels like he got fired with Tuchel 🤣🤣 So glad I don’t have to watch that boring preying mantis lead my club anymore. The only mistake Boehly made is not realizing he was an annoying and boring manager earlier before he spent 300m (although 80% of the signings WERE for the future)
Its funny to see chelsea fans turn on Tuchel the same way they did with Lampard. Its more hilarious that they saying its cuz of new owners rather than realizing they've been doing this for the last 2 decades.
I am really shock, annyod and very Angry. There's no guarantee success from a coach coming from a small club and trying his luck in a big club like Chelsea. Even Graham Potter statistics shows that: 120 games, 34 wins, 44 draws, 42 losses and 0 trophies. Coming from a small club and trying his luck in a big club is no joke. Boehly rarely knew anyone so he just pick up Graham Potter. His reason why he doesn't bring in Pochetino is very lame. Frustrating time for Chelsea fan.
Tuchel should have warned the owner that there will be some bad results while new players get incorporated into the team. Sometimes you need to take a step back to make two steps forward.
Don’t speak out of both sides of the mouth gab. Your bemoaning the fact that Tuchel and or boely had to play sporting director and while it’s nostalgic or appear wise that you say a sporting director should be ever present etc etc. his and marinas job was to facilitate the signings of great players that fit what the manager wants. End of story. Tuchel didn’t even know what kind of philosophy he had by the end of last year and into this year, much less his inability to manage the players that aren’t playing like senior level professionals ie miunt, havertz, Gallagher and frankly apart from koulibalyz worldie his been mediocre. Then subs came in and tucehl would ever so carefully. Protect his starters bc those were his favs and let guys like pulsic and ziyech who had 10-15 minutes to find a rhythm take the fall. “The changes we made didn’t change the game” I’m paraphrasing pretty closely. Always shielding himself from blame. And also that was mainly franks team he took over and Frank was well less poor in that run of form that had him sacked.
The best time to solve a problem is NOW. It makes no SENSE for TB to wait till later after realizing he couldn’t work with TT. I’m a TT fan but two people can be excellent human beings but not gel together. It doesn’t mean one is bad and the other is good. What will TB have waited for?
It really isn't that hard to compute. Tuchel was on a short leash to start the season and he has proven incapable of motivating the wealth of talent at his disposal and unable to adapt to other teams' tactics. Boehly just grew tired of the excuses and made the cut as quick as possible before TT caused any more damage to Chelsea's position on various tables. Why sign Potter over Poc? Easy, Potter is innovative and adaptable, probably cheaper to pay than Poc, is bringing staff with him while Poc would have to build his staff, and probably more willing to come in to help build a new team ethos from Academy to the first team.
Ugh this Gab guy is so annoying. 2 mins in and gotta switch because he is a think he knows it all guy but in reality he's not more read up than your average Chelsea supporters
I think alot of pundits are scared of saying they don't know what direction the board is taking in fears of not looking knowledgeable. Saying I don't know isn't a bad thing. Unless there is actual inside info we can just wait and see. Everyone is speculating so confidently.
Gab is drinking a bit too much of his own juice. I wonder if he'll come out and say "sorry guys I was wrong. I really am NOT always right and nearly as much as I think I am."...
My opinion....Boehly let TT bring in PEA for 30 mil to act as cover to throw the press off the TT "sacking trail scent".... so the 100 day review and sacking would be "shock and awe"....thoughts from others???
What a fantastic podcast this is sometimes! It's so insightful and informative, we never really get to know the little details and rational balanced perspectives most of the time. Boehly is way in over his head imo but the sacking of Tuchel does have some validity to it even though the timing is off. His biggest mistake imo is getting rid of the existing regime of Cech, Marina, Emenalo etc as Gab mentioned.
Yep agree with you. I actually wanted a saudi consortium as they wouldnt have done what hes done to the extent. if cfc dont win within 4 years boehly is then going to feel the fans wrath and since the league has gotten stronger since the glazers utd takeover, i can see cfc being sold in the future within 10-12 years time.
unless of course Chilwell has a knock... he provides quality depth at 2 positions LB/CB. Last season went off the rails when Chilwell went down. Live and learn.
