I so enjoyed watching this video. Brought memories back from when I ran there. My first and likely to be only first place finish while completing my 50th. Like you I really loved the small community feel.
Ohh I could feel the cold coming out of my screen - one for the summer me thinks. Aww Poppy, hugs! Didn't see the Ponty = bridge though... Thanks for sharing.
Definitely a wintery looking one Nicola. A real shame you and Poppy couldn't complete it together, however, you have many adventures ahead to look forward too. Hope you're both over the germs
Another great video, Nicola. I’m glad you got to do Pont y Bala at the second attempt. DFYG next time (Don’t Forget Your Gloves!) I got a horrible dead looking finger like that climbing Mount Snowdon on a foggy June day !
I'm also pretty much cashless... except for parkrun. Always keep a few quid in the car for surprise ticket machines and (more importantly) a few 20p pieces for pay toilets.
Pont y Bala is quite a fond memory for me, I did it in 2019 on my birthday weekend when I'd only been running for a few months and got a massive PB, broke the 26 and 25 minute barrier all in one go!
Oh wow! That's amazing - what a big chunk of time to knock off! Awesome work and I can understand why you look back on it so fondly... Did you ring the PB bell?! 🤞😃
@@NicolaRuns at the time I think I was feeling a bit shy being fairly new to it all and I just took a selfie with it instead! 🤣 It was before I had a running watch though, so I don't think I was completely confident I'd done it either until I got the official result.
@@BenCurrington oh my goodness that's so sweet! Because you'd absolutely smashed it! 💪 You might have freaked out if you'd had a watch though! You'd have been like HOW AM I RUNNING THIS FAST?! It's much better to just do it and then be like "Ooh I smashed it" 😃
@@NicolaRuns yes those first few months were amazing, because of all the firsts. You're right, without the watch I was running purely by feel and was obviously ready for more than I realised. I think the flat 2x out and back course played a part too. We keep saying we should go back there, maybe it's time we did!
Hi Nicola, great video as always, watched it all the way through just now. Lovely to meet you and we both end up appearing on our respective channels! Appreciate your kind sharing of my Bala video last week, it helped me to surpass my subscriber target and I'll hopefully see you again. Funnily enough, the last video I posted was Cheadle Hulme on 2-Dec and I reckon it was even colder (-5C at 0800 hours!)🥶🥶🥶🙂
Hey Andy, thank you 🤗 Oh my goodness yes we had the same! It was minus 5 for our parkrun the following week also 🥶 then this week was parkswim instead of parkrun 🤣 luckily the weather looks better for Saturday 😃
@@NicolaRuns I think I preferred -5C compared to the deluge we were faced with last Sat. I published a short yesterday to give a flavour of what we ran through😊
When we visited Chester in May we planned on this parkrun for the challenge but after your Erddig video, we went there instead. My vlogging was slightly different though as it was sooo hot! Thanks though as I loved erddig
What an shame that Poppy was unwell and couldn't complete her Full Ponty. Having a sick child while being away from home must have been distressing for you both. The upside is that you have a reason to return to a beautiful location at another time. Congratulations on your 200th venue and Full Ponty milestones. My achievement this weekend was to reach my 300th parkrun at a new event, my 53rd.
Thanks 🤗 it's a long old way to the 500 club isn't it! I hope you celebrated your 300th 🎉 It's my 650th this Saturday and I fully intend to celebrate. When the official milestones are 10 or 20 miles apart then you have to celebrate the bits in between 😂😃
What a lovely video with beautiful views and great tree. I am sorry both couldn’t finish the Ponte. I hope you can in the future and be able to climb mountains. Keep up with these amazing videos and you are great presenters
Thank you so much. Yes this trip was definitely far from ideal but there were still good bits and you're right... There will be another day for mountains and the rest of it 🤗
Aww poor Poppy , feel better soon , we were always given flat 7up for a dodgy tummy when we were kids , could be an irish thing lol . Forgot to tell you the 2 stray cats have moved into the garage , someone has made them a nest with sleeping bags and blankets , no idea who 🙄, they have been eating dog food as they are non conformists 🤣🤣
Oh my goodness, it's one I'll definitely remember for all the wrong reasons 🙈🤣🤣🤣🤮🤦🏻♀️ can't believe I drove 10 hours in total to run a 5km and didn't even get to have a coffee afterwards 😂
Congrats on your run and finishing the series. Looks like an interesting place to visit. Believe it or not, I was in Wales on a cruise -- visited Tenby -- many years ago. I actually love that sort of weather that you are running in. I usually bundle up before the race and ditch everything right before the start and then throw everything back on the minute I am done. Do you own the van or do you rent it when you want to go on these trips? Just curious. Hope you and Poppy feel better -- I know a few people who got hit with that stomach bug.
Yes there's loads of bugs around ATM aren't there! 😫 I own the van. For my 40th birthday I sold my car, bought the van and went off on an adventure! 😃 Sadly my dad died a few years ago and this is what I did with the money he left me... I think he'd love my van 🥰 I'm with you about the weather because there's something so magical about it. Unfortunately I do struggle to keep my hands warm though 🤦🏻♀️
