Glad to see Toyota coming in, i haven't even watched the v8 supercars since they stopped using Falcon's and commodores. This might get me watching again 🙂
Finally. Unless it's real Aussie built cars racing each other, which can no longer happen, this series doesn't have a reason to exist without more manufacturers.
Brand new Lexus GT3 focused car already in development, this will certainly help and speculation is the realise date is some time next year 🤞 fingers crossed
It'll sound the same as the rest of the V8 Supercars, they have a very specific engine choice between a GM V8 and a Ford V8, nothing else, but either way even if V8 Supercars allow Toyota to develop and produce their own V8's for the cars, they'll still sound the same because of the upper engine design and exhaust has extremely tight tolerances for specifications.
Finally a Japanese engine in a Supra! Edit: Yes, I know a Supra and an I6 is perfect. Yes, I know that it's a V8. Yes, I know that it's heavier than a normal Supra's engine, but it is for the Aussie V8 supercars. Yes, I know that all the tuning potential is gone, but it's for an almost spec racing series so it doesn't matter. The MK5 is still a Supra, Toyota just decided to use a BMW engine, which is still very disappointing for us JDM fans due to our love for the 2JZ and no, I am not a Supra kid lol.
It's a Lexus V8.. not even a turbo inline 6. Great exhaust note minus the forced induction, but the tuning potential is gone when compared to the B58 - that's irrefutable. EDIT: LOL I JUST CHECKED AND IT WEIGHS 489 LBS !!!!! The B58 is around 310!
The FT-1 had a section of the hood removed and replaced with a transparent cover to see the engine.. The have the same Cut out in clay..... If they show off the 2UR intake and have it colored like the RCF. That is going to look insane
The best racing was back when we had M3s, commodores, escorts and skylines, all cars running different engines, and completely different platforms yet still had great battles, the more the cars are the same the less interesting the race is
surprised more hypocrisy wasn’t here in the comment section. Normally people would say they want a new manufacturer, then complain when a new one is released. But much less hypocrisy! Bravo, comment section!
I think it's cause people NOW are hella desperate. The series is no longer what it used to be, and people are now grabbing any good news they can get, but the finals thing rubbed quite a bit of the fanbase the wrong way.
That's because they blame V8 Supercars and call it a "dead" sport just because it has the Mustang and Camaro, I'm sorry? I don't remember a motorsport that can just pull a new relevant car out of a magic hat, not a Falcon or Holden either, the Mustang and Camaro is all they can do for now (and I'll say it again, both are a part of the motorsport's history) since the government ended national manufacturing because the united nations won't fund us as much or sales just bombed, yet they'll whine about how "unpatriotic" the sport is, when they themselves won't bother to try and restore our manufacturing system through advocation for not only cars, everything! They're not happy with anything at all, the only reason I could see why they're upset would be if this sport pulled a DTM and just made it yet another GT3 championship, it's just obnoxious and pathetic, I have spoken.
Best thing to happen to Supercars since the GT-R Can't wait to watch some Japanese tech show American muscle how it's done 😊 Well done Neil and Toyota! And THANK YOU
BMW & similar manufacturers are in involved in REAL production car based motorsport (GT3). Why would they want to join this hillbilly nascar style crap.
I hope this paves the way for even more manufacturers! Was such a shame when Mercedes clearly didn't want to be part of it and then Volvo went "yeah nah hey"
might be even better if i didn't need a subscription to see it. until it was over corporatised. it should be free to air like it was for almost the entirety of V8 supercars and Supercars and their preceding series. your fans buy the merch, buy tickets, volunteer, bring massive revenue to supercars and the hosting communities. it's the motorsport fans that made supercars what it is!
Im sorry, there is nowhere near enough money to run the series under your theory. and people who cant spend 30 bucks a month arent buying heaps of Merch
I will be following this project very VERY closely that’s for sure. Toyota know how to make a car so it’s going to be very interesting to see how they go
Tried all thies other manufacturers time and time before but still Ford falcons and Holden commodores will always be the the grass roots and be the to best brands I believe ever
@@BobS-u1n no I'm not I remember watching 1977 Bathurst when 1 and 2 falcons of Allen Moffitt and Colin bond crossed the line first and second ohh by the way I'm 60 years of age how old are you
Nothing exciting here but a new motor and big wing. Looks exactly like the a 90 Supra with a different front bumper. This reminds me like every iPhone that comes out. hype it up, but it’s exactly like the last model phone. I own the A91 Supra but this didn’t do nothing for me. Maybe I have to see and hear it in person to change my perspective on it.
Quite excited for this and to see how it develops alongside the established grid. My impossible dream is now for Nissan to enter with a 400Z with a V8 whenever after?
Im surprised Toyota chose the Supra to compete in Supercars. The Camry seemed like the obvious choice to me, as that's what they're already using in NASCAR to compete against the Mustang & Camaro (the same two vehicles competing in Supercars as well).
Would have been interesting to leave the inline 6 turbo engine in and develop it...even going back to the godly 2jz-gte.. The supra with a v8 would make an interesting production car up against the mustang...
Toyotas on the move. Firsts Supercars and now F1. Maybe their engine development will become relevant, because building pushrod V-8's for NASCAR doesn't do much for relevancy in 2024.
Everyone whinging how Holden & Ford gone .. but they died decades ago, just hadn't fallen over till now. Predicted it from early 90's, took longer than I expected but it happened
With all the advertising livery covering the cars, I have trouble identifying the difference between the present car brands. Hope this presents a visible difference?
@@Kiwigold-on7mc Yet v8 supercars wouldn't exist without them. you've never owned a 67 xr 351, or had an xa hard top sittin' in your drive way when you were a kid, have you? learn your aussie history! Supra looks ugly by the way! 🤣
It’s sad to see the Aussie motor racing go down the path of Frankenstein race cars. But that’s what happens when our motor industry dies a violent death.
Not sure why they’ve gone with the Supra over the Camry. I know the Camry is 4 door but the nascar is built as a 2 door. I’m sure they could’ve shortened the body to fit on the frame. Glad we have a new car on the grid though. Hope this opens it up for more to come from the likes of Mercedes or BMW
Do you understand current Supercrap @hindleyau2627? Toyota using the Supra is letting BMW in (in a way), Mercedes, Nissan and Volvo came and went because the series is bias to Skaife's hopes and dreams.
I want to still be excited for this, and the Supra looks badass! If only Supercars hadn't already ruined the hype by announcing an utterly stupid NASCAR-lite playoffs format for next year, before Toyota even arrive in the series, and killing everyone's enthusiasm for Supercars stone dead in the process...oops 🤔🙃
@@mabuhayimplottingyourdemis423 It might've changed since then, but last I checked, the comments on the video announcing the new playoffs format for next year were UNIVERSALLY negative. Like, I couldn't find even a single one defending or praising the change.
