That was a brave retelling of a terrible day. I wasn't one of the need to know the gruesome details of Marc's accident. That is your family's personal life details. Having been through tough times with my husband's and my own own health, I can attest to the fear and shock you went through. I pray for God's continued healing for Marc. Stay well yourself. Please don't overextend yourself for viewers. Family matters most.

Yes, they are treating deep, slow-healing wounds with medicinal honey with great results. Happened to my husband with a wound Dr.s had been treating for sometime and they called for the honey pads - bang - results. Also hoping the two of you will then be able to organize almost with your local medical attendants, almost a code system so you can call and say something like - Help - Rosières - Fire or Accident or something and - Urgent - and have given them a sheet with location, your phones, your names and directions to you- for them to grab when you say Rosières so you and they can then concentrate on What the problem is and the urgency without having to be bogged down by the who and where. I would think they would be grateful and you are spared at least that much French. Love to you both. I had the shock thing happen with my dearly beloved and do understand. You think you are managing it and then suddenly you are unwell and not.

Don't worry about the filming. The important thing is to make sure the infection in Marc's leg is eliminated and he recovers fully. You have a lot on your hands to pick up and help with what Marc usually does. Just drop a short video note to let us know and that we can view, like, and comment on during the weeks that are just too hectic.

That was a very scary story you shared. I'm glad you were able to do it. Good to get it off your chest. You were quite brave, as was Marc. The wait for the ambulance must have been so frustrating. But they did arrive, Marc was treated and he received the care he needed. Living remotely is a concern. Its so comforting that you had friends and neighbors who could help. But you must be exhausted from all the turmoil. Being the caretaker of the patient as well as your children and the whole estate can only be overwhelming. My heart goes out to your family and I pray for your hearing and getting fully back on your feet. Best wishes to Marc on his recovery. And I will eagerly await your Chateau restoration journey.

I totally understand your reasoning for moving into the coach house as we've lived thru a home restoration from ceiling to floor and everything in-between. Definitely NOT a safe or sanitary place for children! EVERYTHING is always covered with a fine layer of dust EVEN IF you close off the room you're working on. Very SMART of you to think ahead, finish the coach house and move in before resuming work on the chateau. I also understand a bit about leg injuries. I had a knee injury with a deep gash that required inside and outside stitches for a total of 31, and another leg wound years later that wouldn't heal and required deriding. I pray that Marc doesn't have complications with his leg.🙏 IF Marc develops redness, swelling, trouble breathing, and/or coughing up blood, get him help immediately! My knee injury caused major swelling and a Pulmonary Embolism (PE), which is a blood clot that traveled from my leg and lodged in my lung. Leg wounds are notorious for blood clots. I don't want to scare you, but forewarned is forearmed. IF a clot lodges in your lung, you can't breath, thus PE. If it lodges in your heart, it causes a heart attack, and in your brain, a stroke. PLEASE pay close attention to Marc's symptoms! Through my experiences, I learned a diet of meat and veg (protein and greens) helps tremendously in the healing process. I'm assuming Marc has to cover his leg while bathing. I wore a rubber shower boot. It was a pain in the who-know-where, but it kept my leg dry, and it was easier to use rather than wrapping my leg with plastic wrap (Saran Wrap in the US). You can find shower boots on Amazon. Again, I will keep you guys in my prayers.

That was interesting seeing what you are planning to tackle first in the chateau, so looking forward to following your progress. I really felt for both of you what you went through with Marc’s accident. My son once climbed an unknowingly rotten tree in a park which snapped, impaling and ripping his leg apart on the way down. I think it was more traumatic for us than him, so really feel for you Amy, especially being more remote. I hope you’re sleeping better now & imagery’s at bay! Thanks for explaining and being so brave for your husband and children. Even tho you may not have felt brave at the time ❤ continuing with the class trip was probably a good way to keep you focused. Good luck keeping Marc still 😂😂 On a second note I never would have believed that 2 plus years later I’d still be watching the lives of people living on the other side of the world and loving every minute of it. I look forward to you, (finally 😅), starting work on the chateau. I think I have those same tiles that are on your stairs. Don’t think we’ll discover anything lovely underneath

I was an EMT many years ago and I can concur that people can slip away quite quickly when they lose too much blood. Kudos to you Amy for keeping pressure on his leg to stem the flow of blood. One experience I had was a husband who sat on his wife's thighs to move the blood up to the heart and the vital organs because she had a self-inflicted injury on her wrists which he also wrapped tightly. But that wouldn't have been an option for you since his injury was on his leg. This man had used MAST (Military Anti-Shock Trousers) in Vietnam as a medic, that when pumped up with a certain psi would shunt blood up to the vital organs and keep men who were losing blood alive longer until they could be put on an IV and stitched up, etc. He surmised he could keep her alive longer by putting pressure on her legs. He may have been right because she did survive. I got a similar gash in my thigh when I fell off a roof I was working on and fell on an exposed pipe. My friend just threw me in the car and drove me to the emergency room and I put a tourniquet on in the car en route. My father also suffered a grave injury to his leg when he fell through some grating on an oil rig in the South China Sea ...but luckily there was a full-time doctor and surgeon on the rig ...after getting stitched up he was flown to Kalimantnan on a helicopter and then sent to Singapore for a more thorough check-up. If there hadn't been a doctor on that rig, he would have bled out & died, because they were too far from any hospital. We do what we have to do at the time. Time is of the essence, remember that. As an EMT we learnt about "the Golden Hour". Everyone should know what that is also, but depending on the severity of the injury it can be a lot shorter than that. Anyone living in the countryside should learn basic training to save their loved one's lives. Again ...time is of the essence.

Oh Amy. What a traumatic experience! That would have felt so scary. So glad Marc will not have lasting damage from that injury. Just like always, we are here whenever you can have time to share more (it’s so interesting!!!) but hope you don’t feel pressure. Letting Marc heal is the #1 priority. Sending good wishes and lots of love to your sweet little family! ❤

Wishing Marc a quick recovery, but hopefully he listens to the doctors and takes it easy. Take care Amy as well as you went through a traumatic experience. Hope you can get some help as well from friends and family and friends to help so you don’t wear yourself out. Exciting times with the chateau restoration!

That must have been so scary for you Amy ,please take time to look after yourself as well as Marc. From experience I know that it takes time to process it mentally whilst at the same time being the caregiver and it can be harder for you than the patient. We are here whenever you are able to post but if you can’t then don’t worry we will wait. I know you want to get started on the chateau work but don’t rush into it,make sure Marc is fully healed and you are settled enough in yourself to start such a huge task. ❤❤

So glad Marc’s accident wasn’t worse, it really could have been a very different outcome. Even as strong a person as you are, when doing “double duty” the need to prioritize tasks becomes item # 1! All the best.

Absolutely - he could have bled out and died there and then. Thankfully he is sensible enough to know what to do. Great story that will bring many laughs over dinner in the future. Not for now tho

Your retelling of the dramatic events was really gripping - I could see it in front of me my eyes. I hope the healing process is going well and there is no new infection. Fingers crossed 🤞 I bet he can’t wait to start working again, but it’s better being patient now and just wait until he’s fully recovered.

Amy, we all wonder how we will react in the face of a terrible accident. You and Marc were both calm and efficient and you can rest easy on that score. The time for falling apart is after and even then you did what you needed too. Well done. Take care of your little family and Marc listen to Amy.
