Christianity did not spread to Rome until around 50 AD, and that was done mostly through Paul’s letters. Peter did, however, write letters to Gaius, a deacon who resided and practiced in Rome.

It's not in the Bible. But 5 of the earliest church fathers all tell that Peter was bishop of and was crucified in Rome... The earliest being Clement of Rome only 26 years after it was supposed to have happened... Which is practically eye witness testimony in those ancient times. It is certainly plausible. Just because it's not in the Bible doesn't mean it's not true.

Simon was married. It would not be unlikely that he had children. Saying the scriptures doesn't say it therfore it didn't happen is not correct or logical. Just because the Bible doesn't say Cain married his sister doesn't mean he didn't, because he obviously did.

Peter was crucified in 67/68AD, long before Rome created the Catholic church in 590AD when Rome realized the Gospel of Christ was spreading and the more they killed Jesus followers, the more followers grew. So they combined their "state gods" with Jesus Word and made their Roman gods into the "saints" of the "church".
