Sermon delivered by His Eminence Metropolitan Demetrius on the Sunday of the Fathers of the First Ecumenical Council, May 23/June 5, 2022, at Saint John of San Francisco Orthodox Monastery, Cobleskill, NY.
"before your heart is purified, don't touch theology". Well, about that: You should (or better, shouldn't) see what passes for "internet Orthodoxy" these days. Teens with videogame profile pics presuming to be apologists or speak for True Orthodoxy. I could never get along in such a scene.
So true. In my search for God, so called theology was a great contaminant for me. I have loved these words and came to Orthodoxy during lock down and I so appreciate these posts. Thank you.
Of course, His Eminence is speaking relatively here. Obviously we should know enough Dogmatic Theology to be true Christians, and obviously we should not think that we are qualified Theologians when we don't have the spiritual prerequisites.
@@OrthodoxTradition Serbia is in Communion with all of the Orthodox Church, except the Copts and other Oriental Orthodox Churches. So, what Churches is this Orthodox Church in Communion with? I thought you were part of the Greek Archdiocese? The Greek Archdiocese and the Serbian Archdiocese are in Communion. Who are you?
@@bewoproductions9097 they are part of the Old Calendarists GOC (Genuine Orthodox Church). The Old Calendarists are not in communion with the rest of the Orthodox world because sadly World Orthodoxy is full of ecumenism.
@@NoeticInsight there is a lot, but it will be rooted out by God. Not by man. And it is being rooted out by God. I believe THAT is the reason for COVID. COVID shined a light on that for the whole Church to see. And the Church had a grand exodus from its Ecumenist counterparts that call themselves the Church. Now, we just have to let God do the work of the actual purge. But, the Church has always been and the Church will always be. With or without the Ecumenists.
