I have 2 opinions for the future of Jak: -If a sequel is made, it shouldn't be made by Naughty Dog. The people and talent involved are completely different from back then, and their priorities have shifted. -I think the next game should maybe be some sort of bridge between Jak 1 and 2, with maybe some sort of system that takes the place of guns that fans of 2 and 3 expect, so everyone can be happy.

I usually don’t watch videos this long that are only talking but you kept making valid points, no fluff. I think a remake would be great, it’s exactly what Crash did successfully (despite it not really being a story based game) the nsane trilogy got everyone excited in the series again and set up crash 4 for so many sales and if they know if they make a crash 5 that’ll do great too. As much as I want a jak 4 made I don’t want it done incorrectly, keep the cartoonish style and make sure it feels like a jak game still but just better. I hope this day comes, it has been 15 years but it’s great that in 2021 us die hard fans are still hoping for it.

One thing I've been thinking of for over a year is remaking/remastering the Jak trilogy similar to how the original Resident Evil game was. Wrote this before finishing watching the video. Since the games were made as is, the remake could throw references to future games, expand on things in the original games. Some overall ideas are improved graphics, story ideas, maybe do that 'realistic approach' if it works. Also, DO NOT remove things from the games (I feel like that was a massive failing of the RE2 & RE3 remakes) Maybe add some new overall story elements for returning fans. Here are some of the individual game ideas: Precursor Legacy: Expand the world, add more people for the background and expand the land (make it feel like an actual village thing). Add a few more things to do for people living in the three "hub" worlds. Throw some hints of the future. Maybe give an explanation for Keira's mother and Daxter's parents. create more Eco powers (the one aspect I liked from the Lost Frontier) and more things to do with the powers. II: Add Renegade to the American name. Expand the city to make it larger (make it feel more like a city) such as include various shops and buildings you'd expect from a city (including things from Daxter). Use the Japanese feature of unable to kill civilians. Add more technical stuff so people can use all four weapons (more stuff than already there). Add some stuff for Daxter to do (maybe include/expand on things from Daxter). One idea was to have a system based around the civilian's relation to the underground based on Jak's action and use of Dark Jak. The more chaos you cause (outside of missions) and use Dark Jak in the city, the less civilians like you and somehow make things harder or you get more intensity of Krimson Guard summoned/ The more civilians like you, the more you're able to get away with. Maybe include a special underground vehicle that's faster and more durable than most zoomers that you can steal but only found in certain underground bases. Also, add more underground bases than just the one. Also, make Dark Jak stronger to justify the civilian meter thing. More optional mission to increase public opinion. III: Make the game longer to have the sheer amount of things to do in both the city and the wasteland. I like the 12 weapons, but make things to do. Have Dark Jak's invisibility be an unlockable ability after the temple when it is initially used. Invest more in the wasteland area than just scavenger missions. Make have more factions of groups in the wasteland. idk. Apart of me wants a return of the eco powers but I feel like that's a bit too much. If the city was greatly expanded in Jak II, have some missions that about doing wasteland-like scavenging but in abandoned city ruins, give a big melancholy fee to it. I may have more ideas in the future, also write this before finishing the video

Didnt the creators of Jak quitted Jak4 to make Last of Us? I love Jak and I wish we could have a remake as you described, that is not afraid of change and fix some Issues, even add lore to it, but, sadly, that would require a dedicated team for it and probably they dont want to commit that much to an old séries and rather focusing on their main Style now, since Naughty Dog passed to a more mature audience/artstyle as you said. I love your passion to the series! Great work and dedication

A simple fix to this problem could be having the old games straight-up bundled with the new game, or have a "Last time on Jak and Daxter" thing at the start of the new game, so people get the footnotes (It's better than nothing)

This would be my idea forward - reboot PL with minor tweaks, get new folks interested, then go in a completely different direction in 2 and 3. Like instead of going forward in time like in the original, keep the story contained to the original timeline. Maybe the open the big door and there's just a note left behind with only hardcore fans knowing it's significance. idk something like that. But really I see a new Jak and Daxter title less likely than Valve releasing anything with the number 3 attached to it.

A remake trilogy where u get the fully intended Jak 1 with lost levels. Jak 2 get the timeline straight or properly looped. Jak 3 depends on the new 2 but have it end with the Precursors prepping a time rift back to Sandover for Jak's crew to build Haven, Jak 4.

I would love to see a remake of the trilogy with updated graphics and I would love to see them include some of the level designs that they ran out of time for like Yosemite. I dont want the main story to change, thats what made me love the game, I just want a remake using the same engine that Crash and Spyro had add some things to kind of nod at the die hard fans. To me, that stands true for a potential Jak 4. Dont try to make it a super realistic looking game, stay true to what it is. Keep the same art design and feel.

In regards to the basis of God of War for a sequel, I do actually think in some ways it's a good idea. If you set the game significantly further into the future, you can both continue the narrative for the old fans while starting from a point that new fans can jump into without any real confusion. The mystery of Mar is really no closer to being solved by the end of Jak 3 than it was to begin with, continuing that would be a good place to start, and there's already a decent cast attached to the story with established roles and personality. Likewise, having two playable characters could be great for keeping the old gameplay and making things fresh. If Jak and his child were to lead the game, Jak could have a more modern take on the old formula with tighter and more modern gunplay, being more tanky and having Daxter help with puzzles and navigation, while the child could be more agile and platform-based with some combat options in the form of weaker but more unique guns, with more thoughtful environmental puzzles and greater platforming ability.

A team like Insomniac can definitely make a good Jak game. Ratchet&Clank lowkey rivaled Jak&Daxter. It was even revamped from its original release early 2000s on ps3, making it look more amazing on ps4 and ps5. Jak being that it’s an open world game would be impressive on next gen. If you take a look at JaKX wallpapers as another example could give you an idea on how a next or revamped Jak game can look on next Gen.

You made a lot of interesting points in this video. Even though I played Jak a lot as a kid I have to admit that the story is too convoluted for the average person. It even confuses me still. I can't see a Jak 4 being viable without the series being reintroduced to the modern market properly.

Glad you liked the video mate. And yeah totally, the Jak series is a weird case where most people remember what it used to be (Jak 1), not what it turned into (Jak 2 and 3), so a follow up would leave a lot of people confused. Since Naughty Dog are working on a future game, I think they're going to work on a new Jak and Daxter game for the PS5, but with maybe new main characters in that universe. The reason why I think we're gonna see the franchise return is because of how many times The Last of Us Pt.2 referenced Jak and Daxter stuff recently. It's way too obvious Neil Druckmann wants another game
@PowercellZeke
@PowercellZeke 3 года назад
While I don't think it's completely out of the question, I really don't think that's evidence. There has been references to Jak in every single Naughty Dog game since they stopped working on the series. TLoU 1 had a bunch of Jak references, but nothing came from that. Also, Neil is one of the people who started working on the cancelled Jak 4, so maybe he does want to try again, but from every interview I've heard from him about the subject, he doesn't seem too passionate about the series

For me, the Jak series does need some improvements. For a remake, add a lock on system this time. The auto aim was great, but it'll give players a way to pick and choose their targets for variety. Second, add new cutscenes, especially for the villains. I loved Gol and Maia, however they BARELY had any screentime. Third, new levels. Add a few side missions with Jak's friends for 2 and 3 since it's so open world compared to 1. Fourth, bosses. 1 had stellar boss fights but 2 and 3 not so much. 2 has 5 bosses, 3 of which are Praxis. And in 3, had only 3 bosses, 2 of which are Errol. 3 had Vegar who was one of the most despicable Jak villains. I wanted to fight him so bad as a child. He DESERVED a boss fight, but instead he's defeated in a cutscene. A 3 remake needs a Vegar boss fight. Those are my complaints for gameplay fixes

I'm a little hesitant on a remake. I am one of those people who says that the original trilogy holds up remarkably well to not warrant one. I don't want to come off as a snob or anything, but it kind of feels like revisionist history if the games were remade. I do like the remakes of the Crash and Spyro trilogies, but there are some things that feel lost in translation when playing them. It's a little hard to explain. I think if the rereleases of the PS2 games got better marketing, this discussion probably wouldn't come to be. You mentioned that the uninitiated would more likely jump into a new entry without playing the previous titles. With that in mind, I think if there's ever a new entry, maybe the series can go the same route that the Ratchet & Clank series did when it jumped to the PS3: start a brand new adventure without focusing too much on continuing from Jak 3. You could say The Lost Frontier did try this, looking back at it. Just give newcomers a chance to see what the recurring characters are like and still provide that intrigue in the series' world. Who knows: it could probably drive the newcomers' interest in playing the previous games afterwards. That's just my two cents, anyway.

first i just want to say u have come a long way since i subscribed to u around 2014..very well made video..also my thoughts over the years have been kinda the same as yours..i wanted jak 4 but then i realise a remake will be a better idea..although naughty dog's reputation has been exremely well over the years with the exception of the recent last of us leaks so i believe jak 4 would sell well regardless ..unfortunately as long as neil druckmann is the boss at naughty dog i don't see anything new jak related..keep in mind he was the writer of the lost frontier and its clear to me that he doesn't give a damn about the franchise.. in my honest opinion and many will disagree the best idea is if they make a reboot to keep the cartoony style of the original trilogy combined with the gore of the later games like the last of us..i've never seen before a cartoony character go berserk ..imagine dark jak slashing people in half that would be original and awesome at the same time and it would interest the vastly majority of people ..also a remake is great idea too..imagine jak 2-3 with unreal engine 5 graphics, more immersive world , side missions maybe a fast travel option customization and not the stupid big head mode !! and a multiplayer ..i want so bad to play with other fans team deathmatch on deadtown for example or other jak and daxter locations and play with other characters like sig ashelin etc.. just like the uncharted multiplayer..its such a shame all the other 3d platformers had something new for their fans except jak ..it makes me angry and sad but hey im still here so i haven't give up on it yet ;)

Wow, thanks a lot my guy. It means so much that you've stuck around this channel for so long. Yeah I agree, anything Naughty Dog puts out will do well, but if they did do a Jak 4, I don't think the fans would enjoy it. I agree that Neil Druckmann would not be a good choice to lead the project, but he wasn't the one who wrote The Lost Frontier. When the game was in development at Naughty Dog, they only had about a level or two done. It wasn't very far in development when they dropped it. Stuff like Dark Daxter was a High Impact Games idea. I've thought a lot about rebooting the games, and I do think it's possible, but it would be really hard to pick a direction that would appeal to most fans. I've always thought of a reboot that is tonally similar to Jak 3, with environments and exploration like Jak 1, and gameplay like Jak 2. That's just what I thought would be cool, it probably wouldn't do too well though haha. But I think a remake is the best way to go. There's been plenty of times I've wanted to give up hope with this series, but seeing stuff like the Limited Run Games collector's editions really boosts my enthusiasm in the series, and reminds me that there are still plenty of fans who love the series. It is such a shame that this series has had it worse than most 3D platformers, and it makes me pretty sad too

Okay, I agree on dave returning to do the remake, but when you say streamlined and you say you want it to be suitable for new audiences I take that as you want it dumbed down. we were the new audience at one point, if you want to add to the story to fix the plot then great, but to take away from the story and gameplay would be to chip away at the soul that the series has. How many games are out there that were built specifically for a broad audience, and how many of them are memorable? I'd say not many. good games are complicated and have flaws, if you try to please everyone you'l impress no one. This is the issue with the R&C reboot, they made it so soul crushingly generic that there's no character arc, there's no personality or dirty humor, there's no character flaws, the game had no personality to it, they even brought nefarious in for the third time as the villain, because we cant actually have a message about economics in our game, it'll make our masters look bad...
@PowercellZeke
@PowercellZeke 4 года назад
I don't mean to dumb it down, I mean to write the story and make sure to plan everything ahead. It's pretty obvious they didn't do that for any of the games. There are a few elements of the plot I would like taken out or changed, but they're mostly small things that don't make much sense. But yes, I completely agree with everything you've just said.

The games could use a graphical overhaul. Sure, they have aged well because of the cartoon style, but they should look like Jak 3 commercials or even Ratchet and Clank now. I often troll Naughty Dog on Instagram for a Jak 4 (the Last of Us 2 mess just adds to it) even though I know their philosophy has changed with Andy Gavin and Jason Rubin gone and the ousting of Amy Hennig despite Evan Wells still being president, and Ive had people suggest Insomniac Games should develop the game because they have been faithful to Ratchet and Clank. Maybe if they were to bring in some old Naughty Dog guys it would work. That said, with your points and others' recent reviews of the franchise (Square-eyed Jak comes to mind), were better off getting a remake I remember someone noting the dropoff in sales between Jak 1 and Jak 2 being most apparent in Japan, that they are the region where you shouldnt change things up as they got turned off by the sudden switch from light to dark, pun intended (as a kid, I didnt care, the world was cool and Jak could talk!, but levels like the drill platform turret and Mar's tomb were annoying) I just played Final Fantasy 7 Remake recently, as someone who waited for the remake not only due to graphics but because of the switch to action based combat, I loved how the game was presented, but we saw how old school fans complained about character design, padding of the game, and unnecessary changes. Jak and Daxter could use changes for sure, in terms of fixing difficulty and plot holes, but Square-eyed Jak pointed out how Jak 3 may have had too many weapon mods (I didnt mind this), and many vehicles that were pointless (I always thought this since a lot of them had bad handling). He especially mentioned how the open worlds in the games havent aged well, and Im not sure how this can actually be addressed. Do we look at Grand Theft Auto, Red Dead Redemption, and Yakuza for minigames, stores, and activities in the wasteland? Or could we use some more characters (or add depth to existing characters like Gol and Maia) or more missions per level? Im not sure about this... In terms of Jak 2 being inspired by Grand Theft Auto 3, I actually thought now that maybe Naughty Dog also looked at Final Fantasy 7 with the emotionally withdrawn Cloud and the bleak Midgar surrounded by a vast world - narrative vs gameplay? Kingdom Hearts may not have been a good example, as I played 1 and 2 as a kid and when I tried playing 3 recently, I found out that all the spin off games were actually essential to the timeline... Shenmue 3 would have been better, as we didnt see the game for 18 years and the only people who picked it up were diehard fans or played the earlier games more recently. Even reviewers said the game felt like a Dreamcast game, and Yu Suzuki stated recently that he wants to modernize Shenmue 4 to appeal to a mainstream audience. Sly Cooper Thieves in Time was fine, but Sanzaru disappeared and Sucker Punch seemed to go the way of Naughty Dog with no clear future... Sorry for being tangenty, these games are my favorite of all time, but the series could use a refresh to generate interest for a proper sequel by a proper developer, perhaps Bluepoint with Naughty Dog ALUMNI

@KaneLofton after seeing 'lost frontier', I worry about what a 3rd party could do to the mythology and direction of the story. I have also seen a lot of valid critisism on the story changes in the Ratchet and clank remake (ratchet is no longer a self-absorbed wisecrack who needs a character arc, and instead is this bright eyed fluffy bunny character who still goes on to do the same amount of killing?). Whilst I'd love to see a remake by a new team, I am also very skeptical, and not confident the same love and care will be put into the lore and atmosphere we all adore

I agreed with all your points and thought I was the only one who felt the same. I hope that with the ps5 and it's ray tracing capabilities we will see a very beautiful remake.

Something to consider about kingdom hearts 3. Because that game took so long to release, I would wager that a substantial number of the "new" people who bought that game were actually legacy fans. Kingdom hearts games have been on the used market for a long long time. Longer than they've been sold new in stores. They've also been re-released in compilations and hd remasters. Many people who bought kingdom hearts 3 got into the game after having played one of the remasters, or after having bought used copies which aren't counted in sales figures. So kingdom hearts 3 having sold the most doesn't necessarily mean that a lot of people started out with that game.

Yes, Jak doesn't look like a realistic version of himself and Daxter doesn't look like a hybrid of Weasel and Otter (Looks mostly weasel) but how would that turn out. Nor does Daxter look like he could be voiced by Max Casella's. I hope that this game sees the light of day sucessfully. I mean a full remake like crash or spyro is fine, but those spyro and crash remakes don't change the story, it's not really the same comparison. Those are basically what the HD collection was on PS3, but another level. And again, those remakes are REALLY FAITHFUL. Crash 1 isn't really any better than it used to be. It's got basically the exact same difficulty spikes and it's just as hard. Would they even fix the checkpoints in Jak 2? I don't think fans knowing the story means they could write a better one, btw. Just because you understand the story and lore so far does not mean you're capable of writing something interesting going forward. I wouldn't really even trust the original writers, they botched Jak 3s story pretty bad from my take on it. I would literally go so far as to say the lost frontier has a better story premise and execution than Jak 3 lol, that's how bad I think the plot is in that game. I also don't know how well remakes are actually received? The Ratchet 1 remake was awful, and honestly, people in general are souring to remakes lately. I wouldn't mind a full reboot or a straight Jak 4. And truthfully, you can't say a straight new game won't work, cuz, tbh, God of War PS4 is a direct sequel to the old ps2 god of war games with no compromises, just set way after them. That is a soft reboot, where the old games plot did happen, but they just designed the story in a way where it doesn't inhibit your ability to enjoy the game. There's a lot of lore in Jak and Daxter, but not a lot of it is directly said to the player. A lot of what we know is from external docs or reading precursor text or making inferences. IDK, it'd be pretty easy to make a Jak 4 where you just explore a new area on the planet we don't know about, or we time travel, or something like that. You'd literally just need to know the precursors made the planet, and the metal heads are their enemies. Or make a new enemy, who cares! .rant over.

@ 5 minutes... hey it worked for Kingdom Hearts 3 Nah but seriously, I can see why you'd like to see the series rebooted. It'd give ND a chance to give the franchise a new spin if you will.. which I feel quite the opposite about... I feel like it's just disrespecting what it's taking after when a reboot takes away from what made the series great in the first place. Let's be real, this is ND we're talking about, makers of TLOU2... It'll just be another uncharted/tlou clone if it's rebooted, looking realistic like gow as you said since they're done with cel-shading and cartoony-looking games.. They're not the studio they once were in 2001. Not only that but ND tried to reboot J&D back in 2011-2012 and it just didn't work for them.... It'd cost ND more money to reboot the franchise than simply make a new title for the series, trying to pick up where it left off if you think about it. If people are confused then that's what youtube is for or the previous games are for. Many people got into the KH series because of KH3 despite it's messy story. I was satisfied with it mainly because of the gameplay as well as the Re:Mind DLC. I have seen on many many forums online people getting into the kh series starting at 1 or bbs after playing 3, so that argument in all honesty is a little bit invalid. The same hype can happen for Jak if it came out with a Fourth game. It really doesn't matter how the game tries to please the fans to me; as long as it isn't in my face with fan-service like MGS4 was at times. I can admire when something tries something different, so I'd be interested to see where a Jak 4 would go if it was ever theoretically made. Jak 2 took a complete 360 and turned out to be really good in my book, still holds up nicely today imo too.The Lost Frontier was orginally going to be made by ND with the intention of being Jak 4. So maybe they can rework the plot going from that game? If you think about it, an eco-shortage is a really good plotline for a fourth game, it can give Jak even more reason to find out more concerning the precursour-lore that we've all been wanting to know all these years.... TLOU did introduce some pretty decent ideas like dark daxter. Just fuck the whole pirate BS tho. ND can do better than that. Idec if there's time travel involved in the 4th game, the series can still survive greatly if a fourth game was ever released in my eyes. The day it's revealed to the public will give alot of people, new fans or not time to catch up on the series. The same thing happened with MGSV, DMCV, KH3, Shenmue 3, and so on.... Rebooting it to me just seems like it'd be trying too hard to appease to a completely different audience. Again, just my opinion tho. Good video tho! Nice to see some J&D discussion happening on yt.
@PowercellZeke
@PowercellZeke 4 года назад
Two points I think you may have missed is, I don't want ND to work on a new Jak game, I haven't in years, it has nothing to do with how TLoU2 turned out. Secondly, I said at some point that rebooting the franchise wouldn't be the best idea, as it would be hard to pick a direction for the series. What I'm saying in this video, is they should REMAKE the trilogy, meaning they take the same story and gameplay, and make the games again from the ground up. But instead of just doing what they with Crash and Spyro, they should fix some of the issues the original games had, like Jak 3's messy story and unbalanced gameplay etc.

@@PowercellZeke Reboot and Remake mean one in the same these days, i mean the ratchet and clanK remake was good dont get me wrong but there were times i thought i was playing a reboot cause of the differences in tone/story... So yeah I definitely did miss a few points. But in today's day and age, the Jak series would need more of a reboot-treatment than a remake treatment imo. Core gameplay mechanics like aiming and shooting will need complete overhaul if the games were remade, something the Crash and Spyro remakes didn't necesarrily need to focus on working with... which in my opinion would be much trickier than simply making a fourth game for the series. Many things would have to be changed for a funner experience. Most people don't like when a series changes it's overall direction and tone when remakes are made. And trust me, just taking one look at ND gives me absolutely zero hope that they'll treat the Jak series with respect if it was rebooted or remaked. I didn't mind Jak 3's story and gameplay tbh. The gameplay for Jak 3 was very balanced for me actually, much more balanced than Jak 2's insanely hard difficulty for sure. But yeah the story did feel like it came to an abrupt end, with plot holes ahoy. Not many people seemed to habve minded it though. (Me included) To each their own ig, good video though regardless!

I really like this video, but I very much disagree with your analysis of Kingdom Hearts 3's story. Not about the meandering, that's in there and it sucks, but I think that's because of Disney rather than it being for new fans. Compare the stories of the Frozen world to the Monster's Inc world, and you realize that The latter actually incorporates more of the plot into it. Apparently, Disney this time was much more strict, they wouldn't even let the developers use the actual city of Arendelle as a map out of sheer protectiveness.
@PowercellZeke
@PowercellZeke 4 года назад
My complaint with KH3 was the structure and pacing of the overall story, the stuff that has nothing to do with Disney. I don't think Disney had any say in that, I think they paced the story the way they did so new fans could have it he their first game and not get so confused with the plot. I understand Disney had a big say in the story of the Disney worlds like Frozen, but Nomura would have had the final say in the plot structure. Anyway, cheers for watching!

@@PowercellZeke Well, compare it to other games in the series then. Comparatively, there is a lot less plot in each world. Why would Square suddenly do that unless an outside force was limiting their creativity?
@PowercellZeke
@PowercellZeke 4 года назад
@@gatst7680 I'm not talking about the amount of plot in each Disney World, I'm talking about the actual plot that happens in between worlds. For example, KH2 had us go to a couple Disney worlds, then go somewhere like Hollow Bastion for a bit which progressed the story a tonne. After that, back to the Disney worlds for a bit, and repeat. It kept the pacing of the game fresh. Once you were a bit tired of the Disney worlds, it took you to Hollow Bastion, or Twilight Town to give you more story details. In KH3, not only are the Disney worlds about 4 hours long each, there's almost no plot progression between worlds. The length of each world makes it easy to get sick of them quicker compared to previous games, and not having any new plot points in between the Disney worlds makes it hard to stay invested in the overarching story. Again, I think this was done in order to appeal to new fans who don't care about the overarching plot, not to do with Disney's interference, as the only say Disney had on the story was to do with the actual Disney World stories

I always felt a soft reboot that combines the first game with the sequels would be good for the modern age. A new setting featuring the core cast (Jak, Keira, Samos, Daxter, and maybe a couple others), and a generally lighthearted story with some serious moments and "risque" jokes. There'd be references to older games, but it'd mostly be self-contained. Focus the gameplay to action/platforming (throw in some collectables and only a handful of balanced guns), polish it to a shine, and throw it into a lush, explorable world. I know that's basically what The Lost Frontier was, but I do honestly see promise in that idea. It just needed to be in better hands.

what I'd love for a trilogy remake (if me and its small community's voices will ever be heard anyway) is some better explanation and better handled story elements... such as the Precursor debacle in 3... it'd make more sense if they had an accident with dark eco *ages* ago that turned every precursor into an Ottsel but never found a way to turn back (or see it as an evolution, if being an Ottsel happens to give out positive effects) this would at least help clarify the "hologram" thingies of the precursors as well as the confusion of the... reveal.

I agree with you. But i think there need to be some major changes to the first game. For instance: Jak shouldn't be a mute and Daxter should've always been an Ottsel. - A more engaging story. Gol & Maia need to be better villains. - More eco abilities. Not more colors, but maybe make the eco powers more permanent with upgrades and different functions. I hate to us TLF as an example, but kind of how the eco's were used in that game. - And whenever they make the sequel, i would love it if they made the world/continent more recognizable. It's only been about 300 years and the world looks completely different. I always try to find locations from the previous games even though i know they don't exist. Would also like it if Spargus was part of the same continent.

The remake should start with child Jak from Jak II Growing up in Sandover Village with young Samos. The childhood could just be tutorial phases and could also include fleshing out characters like Daxter and how they became friends. If the developers have the backstory fleshed out for everything first, I think they could definitely stick with the current story (rewriting when needed). But as for Jak 3 I would just scrap it entirely. Maybe for J3 they could have Jak go back in time and be THE Mar?? 😂 If the hypothetical trilogy is a success then the disappearance of Jak(Mar) could be the plot of Jak 4

They came out in a time when Console Mastcots mattered, it defined many youths & childhoods. Fans have been campaigning for Crash & Spyro even when the series were out of the public eye.

Ok people need to SERIOUSLY STOP using the excuse people hate or are afraid of change as a catch all. Nobody hates change. It’s misleading as fuck. What people hate is change for the sake of change because “progressive” which most of the time equals worse and/or less for more. Nobody, fans included, would complain if there’s a remake that modernized the controls to be akin to Rachet and Clank or if the story and environments where made more coherent. Also the reason why the PS4 port failed was because it was the most unstable low effort bullshit they could have farted out. Badly emulating the PS2 version rather than porting the PS3 version giving it a bad reputation with previous entries post naughty dog not doing any favors.

I'm in the same boat as you. I'd much rather have a remake of the trilogy than have sequel made. Just as long as they stick with the cartoony art style. If not that, than they at the very least should give us this second option: If Naughty Doge, or any other developers, aren't going to make a remake anytime soon, or ever, then I want the original trilogy adapted into an animated series(preferably 2D animated). If in the right hands, I seriously believe the Jak and Daxter games would for make for a really good series, one that could even be on par with ones like Avatar: The Last Airbender. There is so much potential in the story and lore. These games, style, story, and lore wise, are tailored made to be adapted into a serialized series. Each game could easily be it’s own season, while still leaving PLENTY of room to expand and further flesh things out that the source material didn’t, unlike film adaptations. Not only that, but also fix at the least the story and writing flaws in the source material; like how Keira was done dirty in Jak 3. I think it would also fit right in with the trend we’ve been seeing in Western animated media for the past of couple of years now, where a show will start out seemingly lighthearted and whimsical, only for things to get progressively darker, or even shift in tone or setting, the more the show progresse, and the more things are revealed or stuff that was hinted at/hidden in plain sight comes into play later on(i.e. Gravity Falls, Steven Universe, SVTOE, Ducktales 2017, Amphibia, The Owl House, Kipo, Infinity Train). And considering how a lot of the games' voice actors are still working in the animation industry, I imagine they would be able to get a lot of them to come back and reprise their roles in an animated adaptation. Just as long as they don’t fill it with constant pandering and overbearing meta, meme like “How do you do, fellow kids?” type of humor.(Looking at you 2016 Ratchet and Clank reboot.) I’ll be fine then. If we don't even get remake of the trilogy, than the least they could do is give us something in another medium that would allow a chance to further explore the lore and characters in a way the original games didn’t, while still being more accessible to the general audience and the very real potential of bringing in new fans. What strings would I have to pull at places like Powerhouse Animation or Netflix to make this happen!? I still really love the lore and characters in these games and I really want to see more of them after all of these years, even if in the form of another medium.

Now onto what I think for a sequel...I think that jak and daxter should be the sequel, bring them back to the past, ditch the guns, add more eco abilities, and get rid of the end of the universe stakes and let it just be an adventure they need to do just like the first game I think the main reason playstation doesn't have a series like Mario or Zelda that just keeps knocking out of of the park for decades is because of what you're saying they are not willing to take risks with their characters
