It continues to amuse me how many of SGI's ideas are still being used to solve current hardware problems. I am sure there are differences deep down, but NVLINK as described here sounds a lot like NUMALink, cache coherency and all.

We have a mid-sized team of people (graphic designers, final art, video ,photographers) who work with Macbooks and the typical Adobe stuff . I was asked to set up a rendering machine, so we use an AMD R9 and RTX 4090 for things like blender and V-Ray. However we are quite a big business and after watching your Falcon video I became interested in finding ways in which we can try to virtualize multiple workstations. I need to somehow convince my IT manager to buy one these powerhouses to virtualize a bunch of workstations. Also I want a development reporting server for SQL running on a threadripper. Yes I am crazy, but I also think we are in a day and age were hardware is so good you can do some pretty insane stuff that can really boost productivity. Yes the upfront cost is a lot, but at least it's not a subscription.
