Well, I got March wrong, but not by too much. If the next three releases come quarterly like this then The Future Of Berserk 2025 will be an interesting one 👀

I know Young Animal wants to milk this series for as much as possible, but I do think they need to be careful when thinking about 10+ years to complete this. We’ve already lost our beloved author in a untimely way, and if the people closest to him don’t finish this in their time than I think anyone else picking up Berserk’s completion would be too far removed from capturing Miura’s vision.

Hopefully we get 8 chapters this year, & that would probably an achievement of its own.

I’ve been seeing so much Berserk merchandise at my local mall lately

I'm just wondering how a studio that only releases a 5 minute chapter every 6 months is even going to keep the lights on, especially if the next few chapters are mid and people start losing interest

My theory is studio gaga has slowed down because this is a new arc, and they've probably realized they bit off way more than they can chew. With elfheim we already had an established setting, but now everything has to be made up, both setting and new characters. Mori even said that trying to piece together Berserk was like trying to decipher the bible, meaning they are unsure of the trajection of the story. It's sad, but I think that's why they've slowed down, it's a much larger and harder task than studio gaga realized.

As long as we get there I am all for it. It is a blessing that this masterpiece of a manga is continued in the first place.

Interesting timing... I was thinking a few nights ago "I should go see if there's any new Berserk." I guess it's only going to be 2-3 chapters for me, as I didn't really do much over the last 9 months but work... and then lose my job over bullshit. I'll check this out and be back within a few days, but I will watch the video first.

Well, glad to see that I'll be able to join in the hiatus fun when I finish catching up to the manga.

Amazed they are capable of continuing it, but what do I know. Out of all the content that’s come out of Japan, Berserk is one that deserves completion. It’s gone on so damn long, my mind can’t even comprehend an end. It’s one of my most beloved manga, but strangely…to me at this point…it’s like watching a love of mine having a long lingering death. Of course I love it and don’t want it to die/end…but also wanting it to rest in peace after all this time. Friggin weird yes never felt that way over a story but damn, I seriously just hope that it has a suitable and fitting end for something of its caliber.

All else aside Alex I have to stop and give you credit for a moment. You are easily the most informed and well researched berserk content creator on RU-vid and its barely a contest. Your analyses are always very well thought out compared to the standard of throwing thoughts against a wall, not to mention your video presentation is just really pleasant. As for releases, I think youve hit the nail on the head with Hakushensha holding off on rushing berserk out. It makes a lot of sense unfortunately, if Berserk really is the biggest seller they have (or at least is near the top) investors and stakeholders will be far less impressed if it was being pushed to its conclusion with enthusiasm. That being said I doubt we're going full Martin or Rothfuss here, or even Scott Lynch. The first 2 have been dealing with more personal struggles that's prevented them from making progress. Lynch has the 4th Gentleman Bastards book more or less finished, hes just been struggling with intense mental health issues and cant bring himself to release it. But Mori is actually happy to see berserk completed and it seems the team is very capable of working at a good steady pace that would churn our releases every, say 2 months maybe. I doubt Hakushensha are just sitting on a berserk stockpile but they probably have a lot of control over how much time the team should spend per chapter. Mori did say Berserk should finish within a decade and I'm hoping that's not baseless optimism or info not accounting business interference.

I think to best figure out what mioria wanted is to have a team of people who are well versed with the story and have a talent similar to mioria for dark fantasies

for me, the story has ended. in one of the last chapters Miura made (360 i think), Guts is standing at the edge of a cliff overlooking the ocean and thinking to himself "what to do now?" and the Skull Knight appears behind him and says something like "you bear witness to the end of your journey." and to me that's a place where i'm comfortable letting the story end. it poses an interesting question to the audience, does Guts stay on the island where it's safe and live peacefully and happily with Casca and his friends? or does he continue his journey of revenge and leave to go after Griffith? i know the chapters released afterwards have taken that decision out of his hands but i like to imagine what would Guts have chosen to do? if he had the choice.

Berserk is a poor series: It has a masterpiece-like manga. I don't know any other manga better than it. If someone asks which is the best manga, 90% people’ll say Berserk, 10% will say Vagabond; However, the anime is so bad , all the anime except the 1997 one are like a blasphemy against the creator of manga, and on top of that, the games are also so bad. I really will never understand why companies could not make such a perfect manga popular in neither the anime nor gaming community...

They should have never continued Berserk if chapter releases would be this terrible. Honestly they should have just gave us a written summary of how the story would conclude and let it be.

Semi random question but in the US when do you think Volume 42 will come out and do you think it even will. Because from what I have taken away from Dark Horse is that they aren't releasing any more volumes. Anyway awesome video.

I think that knowing the ending is not the same as knowing the path to such ending. Maybe that’s what they’re struggling to fill in. I heard that some Mangaka like to have an ending in mind in the beginning or very early on so this might be the case

What do you think will happen with the deluxe editions? I've been collecting the series with the deluxes only and idk if I should wait it out and see if a deluxe 15 will be released or to just start buying the singles.

I am a bit concerned about the possibility that Mori will be less involved. I trust the team but Mori has to at least define the overall shape of the finale

Not surprising, since it's a series that shouldn't be rushed. It may take 7 to 10 years to finish it, but who knows they could surprise the fans. Either way, I don't mind waiting for the next chapter, since I know the team will give it their all. Not to mention, I'll take the time to read different series until Berserk returns.

Honestly the art was never going to live up to Miura in the first place. And if it's already not as good can we just hand it over to someone who can draw quicker like idk whoever draws vinland saga (im not saying he should drop everything and go work on berserk im just saying someone like him). Miura was a perfectionist, that was the reason for the delays and hiatuses, whoever's working on it now shouldn't need to be. Yes, it's the reason his art was so incredible but that's behind us now and they should work on just finishing the story.

as scary as it is to think about what could happen with the story, i think they've been doing an amazing job so far and everything is still a super smooth read and very intriguing. i just hope they can continue as they're doing and not try to rush anything and try to find their flow into connecting the dots miura left behind.

I believe that eventho they might hold some chapters for certain dates, considering it would be more profitable, they should still take their time to make the story flow. They'll have to "make up" some dialogues and stuff so the story can match up what Mori knows, but that's the only way they can do it. I do hope that they have a more consistent releasing schedule, but not to a point where it loses its quality. Keeping up Miura's work is an extremely challenging feat, that only his team can possibly do, so I hope we get it's conclusion in the best way we can.

Regardless of quality, regardless of friendship, these episodes should not exist, when an author dies, his story dies with him. No one can recreate, regardless of information, another authors universe.

Aight I'm gonna be a massive dick here but it has to be said. Berserk is a mindblowing manga BUT like too many, it has the very annoying flaw of being developed over multiple fucking DECADES. 32 years to be more precise. God I wish authors wouldnt stretch their stories forever. It's good to have an ending eventually. I'm looking at you, One Piece. Can we have a fucking ending? Authors now have the time to die before they finish their work. I'm willing to bet my house that Hunter x Hunter wont be finished by the time the author dies. Shorter series like Death Note are perfectly fine. Attack On Titan is an exemple of perfection. 34 volumes from 2009 to 2021. Long enough to have well developed storylines, short enough so that we dont have to wait till the heat death of the universe for the ending to happen.

They pump out weak animes that don't have the manga sales Berserk has and we can't get the best animation and multiple seasons for it? Very frustrating.

Dude, the Mangaka of the Breaker releases a new chapter every 2 weeks. And here i am having re-read Berserk and they have moved 1 chapter. Dudes should just do half the details. Even then it would be still one of the most detailed manga but just move twice as fast. There is so much more to tell and so many more fights to have. Hurry the f up. I'm getting old.

I personally think Skull Knight will use the sword of actuation to kill the idea of evil, but no matter what I think and want to happen I'm glad to see Berserk carried on after Miura's death.

I'm just happy we're getting something after Miura's tragic death. With so many loose ends it would've been all the more tragic if it ended after Miura's passing and while the extreme perfectionists of the Berserk fanbase aren't satisfied with the new material for not living up to their impossible expectations I'm just happy to get anything at all. Miura left an amazing legacy behind him and I can only be grateful for all of it.

I'm personally really grateful that they've been giving us a lot of chapters these last couple years but if they go back to the way that miora did it where he waited literally years to put out one chapter I'm fine with that we as the berserk Community should already expect this berserk is something that takes so long to make and that was with the author being alive I imagine it takes even longer with him being dead. So honestly I'm okay with three four chapters a year or even one chapter a year I don't really care and it has good art the story is going great and we're going to see the end of this story. Sooner rather than later personally I don't think berserk is going to be over within the next decade. I think it's going to take at least 15 years for them to be done with it. it might take even longer
