@@AndyBirdBuilds Definitely! Waiting on my Shapeoko 5 Pro after listening to you and Matt Outlaw talking about how great they are in a bunch of videos. Did all the research and looked at tons of different ones, but just kept coming back to it.

Vectric has several different software which any of them will work for this, not just Aspire.

I do a fair amount of vector design for engraving and cutting on both the laser and CNC. I've tended to use AI recently to provide me with inspiration rather than the final idea. I'll get the AI to generate an image based off a prompt, then fine tune it with the AI by changing the prompt or asking for the AI to modify the image. Then once I am happy with it, I'll recreate it or use the image itself and modify it to my needs.

This is not a concern of mine.

I think this is a great callout if people aren't aware of it. It might not be a concern for everyone (i.e. if you're making gifts) but if you plan to sell the work you make this is a real concern. IMO, there's no such thing as a free lunch. Far better to put in the time to learn to make your own graphics, and you'll not only be safe from any copyright concerns, but you'll probably find you really enjoy it and take even greater pride in your work!

You are correct on the copyright protection. What is your suggested alternative?

@@AndyBirdBuilds There are only a few options: 1. Use AI and be willing to accept that anyone can copy your designs and there's nothing you can do about it. 2. Design the work yourself. 3. Pay a professional designer to produce the work and sue him/her for irreparable harm if it turns out that he/she used AI. For point #3, ensure that the professional artists has a formally organized business with sufficient insurance to cover actual and punitive damages. Embed the insurance requirements in the contract and verify the limits of coverage are adequate by having a Certificate of Insurance (COI) provided to you before permitting work to begin.

This is a legit workflow. I’ve been using midjourney to have AI create 2D designs, then converting the images from PNG to SVG, and cutting them with my CNC. Using AI generated design for CNC work is not buzzword, it’s where things are inevitably headed.

It is inevitable that AI will make it into people’s workflows and completely legitimate to make a video about it. Just because it’s pervasive doesn’t make it click bate.
