My dad & I bonded through hunting ,fishing & shooting and had wonderful times together . But he never smoked and he disliked it even though his brothers smoked. But now I’m 73 & have 3 boys of my own & we camp , fish, have hunted but enjoy the out of doors together. Some things you share and some you don’t. But you will always remember the times you shared together that’s what’s important!😎
Hey Pat, can't wait to see your updated codger corner with the new locking cabinets. My dad and I bonded over his love of being on the water. Growing up we did fishing and boating. My dad wasn't a smoker of any kind even tho his younger brother and sister were cigarette smokers, like their father. Luckily a habbit I didn't pick up. I, in the late 90s, got into cigars a D in the early 2000s started smoking a pipe and haven't looked back since. Enjoy the rest of your Monday. Cheers
I’ve tried to get my son interested in doing things together. We used to shoot occasionally but his wife put her foot down being a non-gun nut. Then I bought us archery sets. One set delivered to his house as well as one delivered to me. He never mentioned it. I tried to get him to sit under the carport and vape while I had a bowl. That happened once. I bought him a drone recently. When he visited he brought it over in the box and was going to leave it but I told him no that I had gotten it for him. We just don’t really connect, I’m sorry to say. So, yeah, you share experiences together while he is young and it will carry over into later years. I wish my job had not taken so much of me back then. You are blessed to have a good relationship with him. Don’t give it up. God bless y’all.
As they get older, and teenagers, they can go through a tough time (mainly for you, also for him) of testing limits. You seem like a patient dad laying out a good foundation for him. He will always cherish that, I think.
Good Evening 😊 Beautiful Pipe 😍 Thanks For Sharing Your Story on The Pipe 👏🏼As Pipe Smokers , our Kids will Want To Try 😂 My Daughter is Another one who's going to Pick up This Hobby 👍🏼 Have a Fantastic Day 👍🏼 Greetings From South Africa 🇿🇦
I made my first corn cob pipe when I was 15 and Kentucky Club was the blend. True heaven, he can wait til then. Camping is a good past time also mixed in with fishing. See ya next time
You don't even want to know how many "opened" jars I have piled up in my basement tobacco area! 😄In some ways I wish that my dad and I had done some more things together when I was young, but at the same time, we did do enough things that I have lots of good memories. Actually the more I think about it, the less I feel like more stuff should have been done!
Hey Pat! 👋 I had some allergies flare-up last week. Better this week. Inquiring minds of the young. I was the same way. I was into everything. Especially things I was told not to be in.😂 Looking forward to seeing the new cabinets.
I spoke about getting a Savinelli Bings Favorite with Cane Rod Piper; he said to be careful, the stem likes to split! So, I'll probably stick with the churchwardens. My dad wasn't a "bonder" of any type, so I can relate!
That’s a nice looking pipe. I’m outside in 99° weather smoking burley London blend and watching videos. I’m on vacation and will not allow the weather from stoping my afternoon bowl 😅. I ordered some Handsome Stranger from KBV. I’ll let you know what I think.
Looking forward to seeing the new look of codger corner! My daughter is almost 12 now 😢 and we’ve had to start having some of those ‘maybe when you’re older’ talks. Don’t know if we will eventually bond over a pipe though - not sure how I feel about yet?
I view it like eating cake. It’s fine to have cake in moderation but you can’t have cake everyday all day without having some heavy consequences. 🤷🏻♂️
hey pat your order has been shipped. you should get it by Wednesday. I shipped it priorty which is more expensive but also fastert then ground which i normally ship. If u need any thing feel free to get in contact with me. Grats for winning buddy.
i want so bad to narrow what i have enjoyed so far but there is so much to be enjoyed! yeah i have told mine if they are interested when they are older i will be happy to show and teach the pipe as i have learned it. they love the smell and one keeps trying to sneak her way to being around while im smoking it... hard to blame her but i still push back.
Morning Pat, think I was about 13 when I raided my dads bacca, tried chewing like they did in the movies, ooohhhweeee yep I spat it out 😂, tried lighting his pipe I coughed a lot 😂😂. I got some pipes like that just can’t seem to break em in, I must keep going with them or put em up for adoption
It smells like candy, so it’s bound to attract a wee-un. When he finds out that taste does not equal the smell, the allure will be over. It’s like coffee. Unless you sugar it up with plenty of cream and kid wouldn’t touch it. Explain to him the smell is so those around you like it but it tastes pretty much like how smoke smells to him.
