Well I recommend you make a diversification plan because it's been harder to build a good stocks portfolio since COVID. My colleague suggested I hire a brokerage Adviser, and I've actually made over $457k with their help during last market Upheaval. They used defensive strategies to protect my portfolio and make profits despite the ups and downs.

The way to end inflation is to end the counterfeiting. If there was only $100 in existence and there was only 1 thing to buy with it, it would cost $100. If you printed another $100 and there was still only 1 item to buy with it, the item would cost $200. Money creation without product creation is inflation. Make investments to survive.

Great interview. Helen really sounds knowledgeable about how all this works. With the idea of a hitting debt limit in the US, that all has to do with cash flows. Imagine most of the money paid on US interest is going to long term debt holders with aim to endlessly accumulate more capital. They can move that money to other investments, but it generally stays in the financial space. In such a situation, the point of hitting a debt limit could be pushed out much longer than you would think, especially as the holders of such debt have no interest in breaking the system which would effectively destroy those financial claims. The biggest danger IMO is that we stop building things out of fear of rising debt levels, creating a deflationary spiral which leads to mass bankruptcy. If the US is like a zombie corporation, it can be an ongoing concern as long as it keeps building and producing things; laying off too much staff to cut costs would kill such a company if it makes revenues plunge.

The point about the UK pension system being the trigger that forced gov spending limitations (at least at the time) makes me think social program spending will be the bell-weather. In the US the Medicare trust is scheduled to run out in 2027 for example.

Nuclear costs are so high because it is the only energy industry where you have to take in account pollution decommissioning etc in the costs. What are the regulatory setups for cleaning up all the solar panels, the wind turbines, how do you limit the environment destruction due to the mining of the rare earth materials, the lithium for the batteries etc? Just because it is permitted to dump all that shit everywhere while nuclear is highly regulated we get this fake feeling that this solutions are cheap. Same is for coal, that industry is not responsible at all related to the huge pollution that distorted the environment while we worry about even the most minuscule nuclear incident.

Helen: You can see how much power the Fed has by looking at how other central banks have to also raise rates following what the Fed is doing. Hello??? The PBOC already cut rates FIVE TIMES ever since the Fed started this current hiking cycle. China not only is able to ignore whatever Fed is doing, it has a complete independence to do the opposite. And Chinese government bond doesn't have an inverted yield curve to begin with yet you can never run out of "analysts" in the US who keep harping on and on about how China is collapsing when in fact the US and Europe are the ones in deep trouble. Economists in the West think you can't run an economy without US dollar credit or in other words, being outside the Eurodollar system. But guess what? The Chinese government has been doing that ever since 1949. Anyone else also realize the 4 largest banks in the world are state-owned Chinese banks? Whatever impact the dollar has to China's economy is limited to its private sector. Even that is limited to mostly property developers who has been using the cheap credit to expand like crazy. Yes China's property sector is like 30% of its economy but China isn't facing any sort of credit freeze just because the Fed is hiking rates. There is a whole other world existing outside the Eurodollar system. And this world is expanding as more and more countries in Asia, Africa and Latin America are relying on currency swaps with China to cut their dependence on US dollar to pay for trade. Ignoring dedollarization will cost the US dearly. If even the people who are considered "experts" in the West like Helen here are also blind to whatever's happening outside the western sphere of influence (which is not global anymore and a lot smaller than it used to be) and don't even bother to check facts and data before commenting about China, then expect the general public to only wake up when China's economy is multiple times the size of the US.
