Happy Saturday y'all. Asking y'all to please pray for my hubby and I. My hubby is on oxygen and our air conditioner crapped the bucket yesterday. We think lightening hit it last week when we had severe weather. We're using a window unit and a few fans at the moment. We're on an extremely tight budget and trying to get it fixed. Thank you in advance. God Bless. PS I do have a GoFundMe but not asking for donations. I'm asking for prayers.
Hi Dr. Lee, I totally understand the way in which you feel, retiring from teaching four years ago, it was an extremely strange day when I didn’t renew my teaching certificate after 30 years. Hold your head high and continue to enjoy retirement. Keep up the good work.
This was a very interesting video, thank you Dr. Lee. I cannot believe you are giving up your license but like you said it is time to move on. You will always be Dr. Lee to me though. With or without a license. I hope you and your family had a wonderful Easter. And I look forward to seeing you in your next video! Don't be gone to long! I look forward to these videos! And I am so glad the deer are doing better and are getting their babies are fat and healthy. Love you lots!
Dr. Lee, this was a very interesting video. You may be retiring your veterinary license but you will always be Dr. Lee to all of us. You've shown us how much you still care for animals - just look at the efforts you put forth to help those white-tailed deer on your property. I hope you continue to enjoy your retirement now that it will be truly official. Looking forward to what you have up your sleeve for us next time. Take care and be blessed, we love you.
Good evening Dr. Lee. As a registered nurse of almost 19 year, I completely understand how vastly different we are educated now than in the past. I learned from books and memorization as you did. I wished I had the same app for my cartiology section in school! I remember closing the Navy chapter of my life after an injury, but God opened apathy into healthcare for me. As you make your transition to full retirement, I'm sure God already has a plan for your next chapter in caring for His Creation. May God continue to bless you and your family.
Know how your feeling. January was the month for my Nursing license renewal and I decided to actually retire for good. I didn’t expect the way it felt. Like I’d lost a part of me that wasn’t coming back. Praying about it finally helped me realize that God still has plans for my life, just not the same way it was. God will help you understand how you can help others, just not in the same way! God bless you and yours!
Your legacy lives on. It's always hard to step out. You've given your all and now you have time for growth with family and friends. Enjoy the future, you have earned it. I do animal rescue and it gets harder and harder to afford medical help for these lost pets and wildlife. I will continue until I'm broke or dead.,whichever comes first. Love you Doc.
Howdy, from College Station Dr. Lee. I started following your page long before I became an Aggie. Let me start off by saying, once an aggie veterinarian, always a aggie veterinarian. I am still in my undergrad but I assist 4th year students with large animal ICU clinicals. Only a few more semesters till I qualify for vet school. The technology now is amazing. I think it speaks to how well the older generation of veterinarians are. You had to learn this from text books and hands experience on only. No instant labs, no 3D scans, and no Google! Just to name a few things. I hope one day when I am ready to retire I can meet ending my career with as much humbleness and kindness as you do. We love ya Dr. Lee, Gig' Em!

Thanks Corey! Those are some very kind and comforting words! I'll be happy when your time comes to snag that DVM; you'll make a fine veterinarian! Love you too, Corey!!!

I have never clicked so fast to watch a video, I’m happy you’re retiring and enjoying your life to the fullest. I’m sure the Vet world will definitely miss you and all the knowledge you still have sometimes the old methods work better than new!! Sending lots of love and prayers from West Virginia ❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏
Doctor Lee, Congratulations on an amazing and impressive career ! As a fellow animal lover I have always appreciated the efforts of the Vetinary professionals who have helped to keep my little friends in good health. You must be very proud of your career and it is so wonderful to have two of your children follow in the same path !!! Congratulations my friend, enjoy your full retirement...
That was pretty fascinating, with the heart. I grew up with horses and our vet ended up being a family friend. He taught me so much about how to do certain things with our animals. Its like every visit was a chance to learn something new. Vets today seem so different. Maybe I'm just getting old.
I was a practical nurse and due to illness, I had to let my license go. It was inactive for a lot of years and I know it's hard to let go of all that work. My uncle is 90 or 91 now and a former veteranarian. I remember being given a tour of his clinic. My aunt was his assistant. The thing that struck is that he's completely color blind and I don't know if any of his associates knew that. I suppose my aunt told him what color something was, but he probably relied on how things felt. 😁👋🧡
Great video! You’ll always be Doc Lee to me even without license. God placed you in the profession He did because He knew your heart before you were born. All God’s creatures - land, sea and air need a helping hand to do His caring, healing work here on earth! Thank you Doc Lee for your selfless service for those creatures that don’t have a voice to tell you what’s hurting. Enjoy your retirement, enjoying the time you get to spend with family doing the things you love. God Bless You! ✝️❤️🙏🏼
Dear Dr. Lee…in my family whenever anything medical comes up you’ll inevitably hear : “Couldn’t I just go to the Vet? They could do it & I’d much rather go to them!” We LOVE & trust our Vet implicitly ♥️! Admiration & respect to you sir…wishing you & yours a bright & happy future ahead 🥰 🙏!
I know what your saying Doc! My older brother has worked at the large animal vet clinic at W.S.U. since 1974. Should be retiring soon I suppose. Although I was raised on a ranch I left for U.W. In Seattle for Physics and wound up a commercial saturation diver instead. Go figure. 🤔. Great video Doc.
Congratulations Dr. Lee on your retirement. I am positive that your daughter is *making* you very proud. I love how you showed us how the QR code comes alive right in your hands. *amazing* It is nothing like the way I was taught. Enjoy your time off, no more alarm clocks. 🙌
I have been watching your channel since the beginning. I always loved seeing you on VetRanch. But I love watching your videos in retirement too. You will always be an amazing steward to the animals.
Dr. Lee, I enjoy all your videos but I must say this one was extra special. Life changes can be hard and take time to adjust. I've been in my biggest adjustment for the last three years. A few months ago I had my 5th open (sternotomy) heart surgery. I have new mechanical mitral and aortic valves. I'm very well educated on my medical issues but the AI heart function videos were fabulous to see! Much love from Alabama.
I'm retiring in a few months after over 39 years. It's scary but exciting too. The closer I get the less scared and more excited I'm getting. You still have all the animals on your ranch to care for. Enjoy your continued years of retirement!!
I think I started watching Vet ranch when Mat was on there and I subscribed to other channels with the family and I am enjoying them all. I do miss seeing Mat doctor on the animals. I love you channel and hope to see a lot more. You have a great family and I have come to love them all.
Hey Dr. Lee! My Grandpa is also a retired veterinarian. He graduated from K-State in the 50s when woman weren’t even allowed in the program. He practiced here in Northwest Oklahoma until he retired to Lake Texoma in the early 2000s. At 91 Pop is still living on the lake enjoying retirement.
As much as i love my vet and all vets, I can't see animals hurting. I tried watching your sons vet channel but just couldn't. Even with them having happy endings. I couldn't work in that field due to my temper. If I ever seen someone abusing an animal, I would go to prison. So far the Lord has protected me from seeing it though. I am very very fortunate as I found a vet that is absolutely fantastic and sincerely cares for all animals. He's more expensive but I save as i can (being retired sucks as you know lol) and have my 6 cats and now 2 dogs taken well care of. I would fight for this vet, we tried 4 or 5 before finding him and all the others were just pathetic. God Bless you brother. You are loved by man but most importantly, by God.
Hey Lee I can feel the emotion in your speech when you talk about your days as a active vet. I remember the day I sold my sheet metal manufacturing company and retiring a few years ago. I gathered my 32 employees up to tell them about the sale and was suddenly hit emotionally and stated crying to where it was difficult to even speak. Even though I knew that the new owners would take care of them it was still hard for this was my second family I’ve been there for them when their were marriages, divorce, birth of children even seen some of those children go to College. This was all that I’ve known since the late 80’s when I started the company. Retirement was at first very difficult for me but I Learned to spend a lot more time with my grandkids and do some of the things that I never had the time to do like travel. Wishing you all the best Fortune the safest travels and the kindest words. P.S. if I can just keep my old ass body going I’ll be okay.
It's really hard to give up what you've worked so hard for and your true calling. However there comes a time when we all have to. I know it's just finally realizing your career in the one field you've depended on is over, now you can do everything you've never had the time to do. So Lee, when is the album going to drop? God bless you and your loved ones. Godspeed
@@OutontheRanchwithDrLee-xb4lo I think that's where you belong. Personally I think it's like a duck and water. As it looks natural on you. God bless you and your loved ones.
That was so very interesting! I lost my best friend & companion of 15 years, my Cornish Rex, Maggie Mae. She had HCM-Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy. Starting out at 8 months old, it was discovered she had a small heart murmur & we would have to ‘watch it’, which we did. At 12 yrs. old, she was in full blown HCM & maybe had 6 months to live. God, Maggie & I said “No” & started a regimen of meds, special diet & exercise, tests, that all helped give her another 3 yrs. of an excellent quality of life. She passed last February, not bc of the HCM, but of an inoperable bladder tumor. I had prayed as long as she let me know she was happy, we would continue with treatment, no matter the cost, effort & time. But when she was ready to go, I would definitely do the right thing & not let her suffer. It hardest, saddest decision I’ve ever had to make in my life. I truly believe we are put on this earth to serve God & to be caretakers of all the animals on this earth. After all, who did He create first? Think about it… So seeing the ‘actual’ heart was amazing! I’ve only seen it on Maggie’s echocardiogram’s & they’re a little hard to read & distinguish all the different chambers, valves & what not. Again, thank you. I’m sorry you’re retiring your license, but you’ll never be able to “unlearn what you’ve learned” & that will be with you the rest of your days. You may not want to be defined as a “vet” but you’ll always be Dr. Lee, to all who love you! Always…
Thanks Lainy! Your kitty did really well to have HCM for all those years. They usually have strokes that limit their lives! So sorry you lost her, but glad you and Maggie Mae beat the odds for so very long!
P.S. God answers prayers…in strange & mysterious ways. I was determined not to perpetuate HCM & put out the word. Through various sources…my family…I found a breeder of the same mind. She not only shows Cornish Rex’s, but also breeds them but breeds them NOT to have HCM. All of her kitties go through a once a year exam & echocardiogram. Fast forward…I “adopted” one of her kitties. A Tortie named Chlöe. Had to fly to Washington, D.C. when flying was just coming back online after all the Covid restrictions. I live in the west coast Washington. A labor of love & she’s sitting here with me, at the end of my bed. God bless her little HCM-free ❤️!!! Dr. Lee, please don’t ever think your words fall on deaf ears. You always, in your sweet Texas way, have something to say to the world. Bc of you, I regularly keep up with Sasha. & there are others I’ve made connections with on your channel. God bless you & your lovely family.
My son and his wife had a Cornish rex who developed a chronic sinus infection, and when she started to have trouble breathing they did what needed to be done. They've got a new kitten, a Sphinx, and he's an adorable little alien with purple toe-beans and a loud meow (key of F#), and he loves to snuggle.
@@purplealice aren’t they the most “human-alien” like of any animal?! I know there’s lots of stories out there about people bonding with any kind of species…& that’s ok. I’ve had several different kinds of cats…5 at one time…& they all had their little quirks & such. But when I got Sweet Maggie Mae, she absolutely ruined me for any other kind of cat, dog, horse, pig, lizard…well, you get what I mean. We are great believers of adoption/rescue & Mags was no exception there. Chlöe on the other hand? $$$$!! But well worth every penny! Here’s hoping your son & family & everyone around them, have a very happy & LONG, healthy life with their little guy!
I had to disability retire in 2007 after 30 years of being a certified medical transcriptionist. I hated letting go of my certification and memberships. I had worked so hard for them and to keep them. I started out on a manual typewriter and now they are doing voice to text. The changes over the years was amazing and necessary but would have eventually worked me out of a job anyway. Happy retirement but I know how hard it is to let go. As always, prayers to you and yours. Much love
I will always remember Vet Ranch with Matt. I really miss that. I have always loved animals of all kinds. I am now educated about the heart. I loved that part.
Wow, love the interactive apps, wish I had that when I was in nursing school. License doesn’t define you. You’ll always be a veterinarian at heart ♥️ love of animals.
Dr. Lee you make a good instructor. 😁👍 I can see how that must be bittersweet to retire your license. I can tell you that in the few years I've watched you, I would have loved for you to be my animals' vet. I might have had to make up stuff just to come visit. Always be proud of what you did for, I'm sure, thousands of animals and the families who loved them. Continue enjoying retirement and those grandkids. You are firmly in the asset column in this world. God bless. 🙏❤️
Wonderful video as always, Dr. Lee. And I'm truly sorry for the difficulty that your decision must bring; but you'll always be a veterinarian. A guitarist who no longer plays in a band is still a guitarist. Thank you for being the wonderful person that you are, God bless your family, and the best of luck going forward.
When we first started using our vet he was a farm or large animal vet. I loved the way he did pet vetting. No fuss giving pet owners responsibility for treating our pet. Several years have past and now they have a full department of pet vets and a separate department for farm vets. I miss those old days when things were simpler and for sure cheaper. Also they all specialize.
I had vets for all my son's pets - we discovered a vet who treats "exotic" pets, who took wonderful care of our rabbits (he also treated birds and reptiles), and a different vet who looked after our cat. I wish my doctors were as caring as those vets.
You are a treasure! As a 80yr old retired nurse I'm here to tell you whatever you do from now on will be 🤩 fun. Enjoy your music, ranch "chores", grand parenting, yootoobing, reunion going, napping 😴, or just reading. It’s a wonderful life (so to speak). From Patricia in New Hampshire, 👵🏻 🤗 😉
Dr. Lee you have served many types of animals and their families for years and it is time for you to enjoy the fruits of your labor with your family. I have been in the field of Ophthalmology as a technician for 47 years until I retired 7:years ago, I always said being a Vetenarian is way more difficult because your patients can’t tell you what is wrong with them. You will always be Dr. Lee👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻❤️❤️❤️❤️
I think you were in the good times though , you ,Dr. Pol , Dr Jeff ( both on TV) are old school and damn good at your profession. Dr. Jeff does work on animal's that others could do but no one can afford it , and I truly believe in his policy of fixing all animal's before they leave , except maybe professional breeders but all others leave without reproduction parts !!! Enjoy retirement and old age as my Dr told me , they don't last long !!!
Dr Lee, you still have your knowledge and skills though ... and your memories of healing and teaching will sustain you in years to come. I love your channel for your storytelling skills as well. What a talented man you are! 👏 Hugs and Well wishes.
I retired 4years ago. It is a little scary. I just felt lost at first. But then, I found other things to do, lots of volunteer work, lots of lunches with friends, home projects to do so now I'm busier than ever. It's just another chapter to our lives, another journey we will take. Best wishes for you!
Kind of a strange day hearing your full retirement 🤔. But these have been a strange few years. Trying to just keep my faith in the one truly 🙏 in charge. God Bless!!! Enjoy your life and family 👪
Are they burning pastures or crop fields? As I understand it (but could be wrong) burning crop fields, that are being rotated for use in grazing, actually helps get rid of woody plants and aids grass growth.
You'll always be Dr. Lee in my heart. I wanted to be a veterinarian, but I got married and never started school. I didn't apply myself on high school because I was bullied and I ended up an introvert. I also found out that I have Vasal Vagal Syncope so it would not be good if I fainted during surgery!
Once a vet, always a vet Dr. Lee. I really hope there is some reform in higher education soon. I graduated almost 30 yrs ago and paid off debt for several years. I don't know if I could pay off the debt now in over a decade! Lot's of money wasted on non-essential things and bureaucracy. I wish there were options to focus on core learning and essential skills without the expensive extras. It will probably take someone like an Elon Musk to create an alternative to the entrenched University system we have now. Take care.
Retirement was bound to happen, Your home town and surrounding area Thanks you Dr Lee for your years of service and Caring for our Four Legged Family Members, Thanks Dr Lee you will be Missed... Im guessing Matt will be the New Owner of your clinic with your daughter at his side...
Actually, Matt's license is "inactive" now too, and my daughter is firmly planted in north Texas. My son's (Mark's) wife Jaci and another lady vet own my practice now...
@@OutontheRanchwithDrLee-xb4lo Many good wishes to Jaci and her partner, and I'm glad she's your daughter (I can't help but think of that silly film clip where Matt is teaching Ali how to neuter a dog, and how silly the conversation gets.)
Dr. Lee, Although the technology has improved, I sometimes think having a vet that has to do it all like you did, instead of referring to a specialist for a lot of issues, doesn’t just make the vet bills higher, it also makes the entire process of caring for a sick or injured animal much more difficult on the owner. There seems to be a shortage of vets where I live and I wonder if it’s because of the extreme cost of education vs. the average compensation that discourages young folks from enduring the 8 years of advanced learning required to become a DVM. I am very grateful to you and all those who made the choice and sacrifice to follow your passion for animals and helped countless thousands of them and their owners over your many years of practice. God Bless and may you continue to enjoy the fruits of your life’s work. 🙏
Dr. Lee I’ve admired your love of animals that you became a Vet. Your love for animals will not change. Retiring your license is a walk down memory lane.I can understand your mixed feelings but you have not changed as an animal lover. That’s what’s important. So glad your mowing the field yielded new growth for the deer! My backyard is backed up to a wildlife preserve. The mama deers and stags visit me daily in my yard. AFTERALL I’m in their habitat. They are not afraid of me. I put out treats for them even tho there’s much for them to eat. Soon I’ll find newborns in my yard. I can’t wait. I know mama pit them there to keep them safe while mama eats. Just love you and your channel. God bless.
I learned what a VSD was when I was 16 yrs old. My baby son was born with it. He is 6'10" now and 47 years old. Needless to say he grew out of it. Thanks for the lesson Dr. Lee. I enjoyed it.
I can relate on a much smaller scale, Dr. Lee. After 30 years as an EMT, I didn't renew my certification last March and let it expire. I worked hard to obtain it and all the years of continuing ed that went into it. It was and still is an odd feeling.
CONGRATULATIONS DR. LEE on Your complete retirement... Your compassion for animals will Always remain... Your legacy will carry on in Ally... Hugs & Blessings Always... You & Your Beautiful Family are LOVED... GBY ALL 🙏❤️💙💖💙🤗✝️
Dr. Lee, it’s time for new adventures. The families whose pets you cared for were lucky to have you.Their pets we’re blessed to have you and your heart for being a veterinarian. Blessings to you, Sir. May you have abundance in all that you need.
First off, notifications don't seem to be working 😕. I went looking for a different video and found this one! Second, I can't imagine how hard this is for you. Some jobs are plain easy to leave and move on, and others are just TOUGH. But I understand why you finally came to that decision. You are right though, most vets out here are women, and there's a growing demand for the services. At the very least, you'll keep your toes in the water watching Ally grow in her own career 😄❤
Yes, I think there's something wrong with YT's notifications....A lot of channels are complaining about views falling off in the last 2-3 months.... Sound familiar??? Mine have....
Hahaha... good to see your handsome mug again - and Luther. We "heart" you, too, Dr. Joseph Lee Carriker. 🤣 You are a true gem and a fine gentleman. Tell Ali that we "heart" her and VR, as well, ok? Keep dancing with your beautiful bride. She needs you, sweetheart. Scratch that little Pom for me, ok? Does Matt still keep his License active? How are Mark's wife and kids doing? Was the leather cowboy pix ever put together and framed? I sure hope so. What a treasure for them. Still miss Mark. 🥲 I hear that Matt and Mere have a new pool. Perhaps you and your beautiful bride can go over for a swim sometime soon? Much love and prayers to you and yours from your eternal sister in Christ somewhere near Seattle. ⚘🙏❤🙏⚘
@@OutontheRanchwithDrLee-xb4lo Good to hear, sweetheart. Give Jaci and the kids a special hi and a hug for me, from their eternal sister in Christ somewhere near Seattle, ok? Still wondering what ever happened to the leather Cowboy. Hope it is framed and is on one of their walls. It must be such a precious memory for Jaci and the kids. "This is what your daddy made for mommy..." They must be growing like weeds. Wish we had the energy like them, right? Just a little bit? 🤏 Ok, perhaps a lot of bit, lol.
Absolutely fascinating. Some of my most beloved books are the All Creature Great & Small series by Alf Wight aka James Herriot. He chronicled so well the very early days of Veterinary Medicine in England and Scotland and did so with humor and heart much like our beloved Dr. Lee, who has been a blessing to thousands and has quite a beautiful legacy in his children who will carry Veterinary Medicine forward. God bless you and yours now and always. 🙏🏻❤️
That was fun. My wife is a orthopedic surgical nurse. I have learned a lot about joints. My mother was a cardiovascular rehabilitation nurse. Boy she would have loved that app.
Sad to hear that your hanging up your stethoscope however your Legacy will go on through your Daughter and your Son. Maybe just maybe your Grandchildren. Love From Michigan and it's a nice evening 💖
Dr. Lee, congratulations seems like a weird thing to say here (giving up up your license) but I think you understand what I mean. You are now officially, and completely,....retired. You earned it. Embrace it. Enjoy!

I was forced to retire from professional driving, due to an open heart surgery at age 68. I was in pretty good condition, until that little detour. I HATE being 'retired,' although I'm very busy with my farm and animals. As a woman driver, it was sometimes hard to handle the heavy lifting, but other drivers were always so kind to give a hand. I had come from a career in the 'corner office' for a technology firm, but got re-engineered out the door, and bought an 18 wheel tractor trailer rig, and hit the road, with my two German Shepherd dogs, Trooper and Ellie. I drove for over 2 million miles, in 20 years, with no accidents or incidents, and only 1 ticket. That was for speeding. 🙃 It was in California, though, so we wont count that. 😉 I drove through all the lower 48 states, and coast-to-coast Canada, so many times, I could probably do it all with my eyes closed. (I promise I wont try that!) 🤪 I have many memories, friends, photographs, favorite spots, etc, but I miss it so much. I do work really hard on my farm, and have a huge garden and orchards, but I MISS working out THERE. I know you will keep busy, and continue to care for the wildlife and all your GrandKiddos. I pray for many continued blessings for your good health, strength, stamina, protection, peace, and happiness!! God Bless You, Dr and Mrs Lee!! We look forward to your continued video updates!!! 🤗
