In this video we take a look at the future truth concept. We are often taught that it's not good to lie. Telling a lie is never the right thing to do, and you should aspire to always tell the truth. But when it comes to our future lives, there might be a rare time when it would be beneficial to tell yourself a current lie about yourself.
The problem with telling yourself the truth about your future is that the truth is ugly and unpleasant. The best way to achieve great results in life is to set lofty goals and attract a future self who believes those goals are possible - because if you don't, your current self won't. That's why I use the Future Truth Concept; looking at something as mundane and ordinary as our resumes and imagining them filled with achievements that we didn't actually get at the time - because if we did, then we would have never told ourselves or believed that lie.
