The Game has CHANGED! Cities Skylines Free Update, Creator Packs, and DLC 

Finally! I hated that you had to choose between a beautiful street with trees and a street with bike lanes. Now yo can have both!

My biggest gripe has always been the lack of variety in vanilla roads. This is very refreshing to see.

After Dark, Snowfall, Mass Transit & Sunset Harbour all introduced additional modes of transit. A lot of people forget about Sunset Harbour but it introduced Trolleys. I think the reason that we are now starting to get free updates which include a lot of assets that are already on the workshop is that quite a few of the people who made those assets are now employed fulltime by CO. A lot of top level mod creators have also been hired by either CO or Paradox so I hope we will see CSL 2.0 already include the capabilities of some of those mods. TMPE, IMT & Node Controller built right into the base CSL 2.0 gave would really attract existing players & those who gave up on CSL 1.0 back for 2.0 Maybe they will add in to 2.0 the capacity of console players to be able to add a select few mods as well so a base console player doesn't have to load down their console unless they really want to. This would allow a select few mods approved by CO to be available for BOTH Desktop AND Console players. I can dream at least.

somehow busses can drive on the pedestrian tram street but you can't place bus stops on it 🤨😂

The pedestrian tram roads actually double as bus roads as well, as I figured out last night. Not sure if a taxi will go that way or not, but it will definitely take buses as well as trams. Think of them as the pedestrian bus roads w/tram tracks

I love the fact that they finally added a wider variety especially of the six-lanes. What I'd really like to see (though others might not) is a user interface that let me create a road-type on the fly with the props I want (within reason), instead of picking from pre-existing pieces. I realize modders technically do this all the time, and then release the new pieces, but I'd love to have this ability built-in.

Also, happy to see cross-DLC content: I hope this means we can see more transit options for the future: eg. taxi and tram in case of Airports, more transport hub options, warehouse for fishing industry. Going back to and older DLC with minor updates can shape up the already released content.

I don't like Paradox's "nickle and dime" business model, I will always give them kudos for solid content for their flagship games. This has me interested in jumping back in.

I have to agree, this is the best free upgrade to date. I've been playing since day 1 March 2015. The game is so immersive and the ability to express our creativity in so many ways never fails to amaze me.

I’m trying to get the time to create a collection of Vanilla+ roads that didn’t get replaced by the new update. I also prefer the Vanilla+ median with trees, because Delta5-1 placed grass under the trees rather than dirt. I do agree with your point about standardising roads, but the Vanilla+ pack has been so helpful. It’s hard to leave an old friend.

What I like to do now is build a walkable pedestrian district with skyscrapers. Put in plazas and parks and watch my district's value go up. Interspersed with transportation options in and out of the downtown area.

What I like to see is the Scandinavian district. Where you can build brightly colored houses and buildings.

I would still say the best free update was either the one that brought the night cycle or the one that brought road guidelines. But this one is still pretty awesome!

CS will likely be one of those games which will get updated indefinitely (while constantly spurring rumors about a sequel). Like Terarria (Terraria 2 is technically in development since 2012, and the original Terrain had a lot of "final" updates). Modding and semi annual updates keep Cities Skylines fresh and enjoyable fro decades to come.

What? Yumbl excited by roads? That doesn't seem right.

Yes! Thank you for mentioning us console players. It's is a true struggle at times, but the challenge is what it's all about. I see Paradox has figured out some ways to give us on console a boost. Maybe soon we will be able to choose out starting square on console since we can't build more than 9 tiles.

Cities Skylines finally has ... .. ... Skylines 😆

I have been considering Cities Skylines for years. I was hoping to use it to try out some planning / design concepts attempting to achieve near zero impact footprint. High density, all pedestrian / bycicle / underground rail for product and home delivery. Workplaces and hidropónic farming in the city. Rail cargo and transit to places outside the city. And all waste recycled. Minimal impact to the countryside and resilience against natural disasters. This update seemed to allow me to model at first (in combination with mods) but as I watched your video I realized that no, it does not yet go far enough. Pity, but thanks for your review as it saved me from many wasted hours.

Too bad there still are no roads with separated bike lanes, they should look at the Netherlands for how good road infrastructure is done, most of these roads still have painted bike gutters.

I think that as long as cities 2 doesn't come out, I will not come back. I struggled too many hours modding and enjoyed 100h+ of cities, but now that I don't have much free time, those modding sessions feels not enjoyable anymore

I have snowfall, but I don't have those tramroads. This update broke A LOT of things.

I was initially excited about the new items, but my excitement faded when I discovered that the new roads, tracks, etc are only available if you have the appropriate paid content! So not really for 'All'!

I most wish for tram, trolleybus combi roads. Best would be if the tram and trolleybusses even share one of the two wires with the Trams (this is how it usually done in reality). As assets I really miss more realist bus hubs (where busses don't to unreasonable sharp turns) Tram hubs and trolleybus hubs. You can guess, I really like building Trams and Trolleybusses.

What they needed to do was keep all tram/trolly tracks in the middle and have underground passage to the stops in the middle.

As far as a fantasy of some update this long after the initial release would be something to address frame rates, now that there's modern systems. Perhaps an overall optimization even helping older systems I should say.

Hi Wanting bi-directional single and multi-lane roads with kerb side parking. Kerb side parking will feature in most of my roads.

It's welcome, albeit overdue, to get high-rise/skyscrapers in the game. Finally Cities: Skylines can offer a skyline! (without mods ofc)

Tram pedestrian road is good and something I really wanted.

I consider Mass Transit & After Dark to be the essentials. To this day I still have not grabbed Snowfall, as it just doesn't seem worth it to me. (I have After Dark, Mass Transit, Green Cities, Parklife, Industries, & Sunset Harbor. I have no desire for Natural Disasters, and I've never felt that Campuses or Airports needed expansions in my own play. Plazas & Promenades looks promising though. ^L^)

I cannot get any more packs because my Mac cannot support too many dlc packs. Airports expansion pack, train stations and vehicles dlc packs are what I use along with match day and China free dlcs.

idk how it works exactly but they should just buy the rights to the best mods ie the ones pretty much everyone has and add them to the game. like move it, traffic manager, and the likes

Today AROUND 1939 am 8:00 a.m. I ran down to my desktop wearing my onesie pajamas turned the corner so fast almost busted my face on the floor I was so excited. You see these past two years have been filled with joy and your insanity Joy and complete orgasmic eye candy we like to call Cities .. imagine a new person surprised as we get up on to roads and sidewalks and the interacting of the civilian population in one of our favorite games of all time we just now found out it takes a little while but we finally get skyscrapers oh how I could not wait to play City skylines what's this... Everything's up to date all the mods are well some are broken but working for the most part and it says I need to download a new runtime distributable for c++ and then it says that nothing needs to be done so I start.. I am not rich by any means I.. but it seems like a nasty bug has showed up in my game again and because I'm not the richest person in the world because I hardly ever have any money and because this bug makes me shut down the game uninstall the game reinstall the game and guess if it's worked again can't be kill lol..ñ

This is phenomenal. However with such effort, would an intersection toggle on/off for ped-xing and a lane toggle turn only, straight etc be so difficult of a two tiny things for us consoleans???? P.S. And perhaps, just perhaps, a redlight with a frigging LEFT TURN cycly!!! Vanilla lights are shit, they always make traffic worse bc left and straight go green together defeats the purpose of a light. Id love a medium density where bldgs can go max upgrade without shooting to 80 stories, maybe 20 story condos etc to truly blend without painfully time consuming watching them upgrade and set to classic mode so they upgrade but stay same bldg...cuz ya always miss a few and theres a tower by your grocery store

Can one explain to me before promenades dlc I had 100mods and 7000K assets. After all these updates I had to cut down to 30 mods and with all I get max 3000 assets. BUT it says gameprofile ram 38GB I understand this should be the ram needed for graphics card ? As my amd 16Gb is running at 99% overload. The system ram use comes to 47GB. I have upgraded whole pc its now 4K worth at least running 96GB at 3800mhz amd readon 6800XT 16Gb upgrade from rtx3080 aan I found amd price and GB more improving then the rtx3080 wich cost almost double for less ram. And I dont see any negative effects running with ryzen 7 5800x all watercooled. How can the game ask so much video ram and stuff and how can I fix this ? As I see others with less powerfull computers running 10K assets and 100+mods I can't no where find any information for my issue maybe some of you have any idea ? Thanks

HELP! I bought the skyscraper dlc, but there was an error with the download, and now I can't access any skyscrapers, even though the game claim its installed. How do I uninstall and reinstall?

So as I try and figure out a solution because I have bought or not really bought I downloaded my game off epic and because it was a free giveaway kind of thing I didn't really think about it when I started buying all the download able content there was to buy so I started buying and buying and buying and I am now two DLCs away from owning the whole collection and doing it this way is the hardest to mod/ or the hardest to even keep running so I beg the people of City skylines community please help me right now is a time where I have been waiting years and years ever since SimCity came out on Nintendo to have big huge actual City skylines and unfortunately I believe I will never see that beautiful skyscraper skyline because it's not that my talents are being wasted it is because has Monopoly on The mod game I love steam to death but man..

Hey, I worked on a city for almost 2 years, putting a LOT of time and work into it. Then suddenly it went POOF! I could not get into it and I could not get any help from the people who made it. So bewares before you put any real-time or effort into this thing. Your time will probably be more well spent, elsewhere.

The worst update was their very first DLC, right after they promised never to have paid DLC.

So the skyscrapers are all unique buildings? They look nice, but as UB they are just like empty buildings in the city with no function. They need to come with jobs or residents.

got bored after the first few minutes. but seriously, whilst i appreciate the updates going on 7 years since release. lets just get a cities skylines 2 please. ditch unity cause it sucks, either make your own engine or pick ANYTHING better than unity. make your pathfinding system multi threaded, and update the base graphics from absolutely dreadful to at least passable. but whatever you do, do not ever change the ability to mod the game. without mods, this game would have died in 2015.
