I was so glad to see this video up. I love this game. As a retired teacher who taught for 38 years, I will tell you now that reading is hard when you are teaching.. I spent many years in fifth. That was great for my reading life. I challenged my students to read 40 books each.I felt obliged to do the same. I also read, usually middle grade, when they had silent reading time. I found that they would read if I read. If I didn’t read, they didn’t read. I also counted a book as 250 pages, so those children who read big books, which took them a long time would get more credit. Good luck, I enjoyed my years of teaching.
I love that idea of reading while they read so that I can lead by example! Thank you for sharing your experience Marta, it makes me excited to hear other people’s teaching ideas 🥰. And counting a book as 250 pages! I am going to write these ideas done.
I'm so excited about this!! I just got your package and I am so thankful for it. I'll voxer you about it because I want some help/ideas for stuff!!! You're the best!!
I love ur tbr videos every month and I would participate if I could and this month is no different. For the middle grade prompt I chose a reread Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Love your videos can’t wait for august
Yay! Bookish game of life. Always love the chaoticness of this game. I don't know what I'll read for the middle grade. I think I'll try to get the second Skandar book or I have Keeper of the Lost Cities Flashback. It also took me like 10 minutes to find my copy of The Strange Case of the Alchemists Daughter, so hopefully I can get to that this month to join the chat.
I hope you can join us for Strange Case of the Alchemist’s Daughter! I’m definitely going to have to start that during the second half of the month though lol
@@astarreads4214 me too, I'm reading 50 pages of the song rising now and then I'll do the same for the strange case so that way I can still get through my library books too.
Great that you could overlap so much! Viewer prompt: Haven't played my own game yet, but maybe Shadowghast. 🤔 Good luck! Magda: Viewer recommend: The Adventures of Amina Al-Sirafi, haven't finished it but the audiobook is good! Oh Magda, next round is going to be tuff!
For Magda, my suggestion is Vera Wong's Unsollicited Advice for Murderers by Jesse Q. Santano. It's a very funny murder mystery with found family and even a bit of romance. The audiobook is amazing!
Picks for Magda-If you haven’t read cemetery boys Magda, that’s amazing on audio! If you have theb I recommend any of Aiden Thomas books on audio. I’m reading lost in the never woods on audio right now and loving it!!! Another great audio is Night Swim by Megan Golding
Thank you for the recommendation! Amy gave me Cemetery Boys for another spin but I downloaded Lost in the Never Woods. Looking forward to reading it. It has been on my radar for a while!
So much fun!! The colours and board makes my brain very happy :D I hope you enjoy All the Birds in the Sky, I’m looking forward to hearing your thoughts on it - it’s a dystopian I’ve been needing to read for ages!!
I’m really hoping that I can get to it soon. I have had a couple of Charlie Jane Anders books on my ‘want to read’ list in the past and never got around to reading them.
For the viewer prompt I’m gonna read Camp Sylvania by Julie Murphy. 😂 I started it last night and it’s giving middle grade “horror” gender bent heavyweights (the movie) 😂😂😂
Lol, I totally didn't catch the secret tbr thing until you pointed it out 🤣 You have a great mix of books this round. I am surprised that Magda only ended up with 2 bonus spins, but the prompts she got were all pretty nice.
For Magda, I hope these books are on audio, but I really enjoyed reading The City of Brass by S.A. Chakraborty and if you already read that then I encourage you to continue with the Kingdom of Copper or if you read that then the third book which is Empire of Gold. If you read the entire trilogy then her short stories River of Silver or her latest book set to be a trilogy which is The Adventures of Amina al-Sirafi. May I also suggest Black Sun by Rebecca Roanhorse and if you read the first book then Fevered Star as we await the third and final book Mirrored Heavens which is supposed to be out some time this year. Enjoy your books this month Amy and Magda. I am thinking of reading for the middle grade pick Eva Evergreen Semi-Magical Witch
I really have not been giving it any time 😞. I keep having new buddy reads/book club reads/challenge reads and this poor book keeps getting put on the back burner. Thank you for the info :)
Always love these videos! I will try to read the second book in the Warrior series by Erin Hunter. Hopefully I get to it before I go on my trip. If not, I'll have to find a MG audiobook :)
Good luck with your new TBR, I love the game of life and your spin on it is very fun. 🎉 I have a small correction to your language. Transgendered is not a proper term, it is just transgender. I hope I didn't mishear you, I rewound to listen again and it sounded like it to me. Thank you from reading trans authors and supporting us.
Thank you so much for letting me know I used the wrong terminology and I apologize for this mistake. I will make sure to use the correct language in the future.
@@astarreads4214 Thank you so much for your kind response. I sometimes worry about correcting people but I love your videos and seem like such a wonderful kind person. Your students are lucky
@@PumpkinFinch I attempted a video clip correction on RU-vid and it will take a few hours to show up, but hopefully I will have fixed this part of the video.
Oh man...The Great Alone was amazing. Kristin Hannah is one of my favorite authors. I love just about everything I read by her but The Great Alone is still my favorite.
Looking forward to another Try a Chapter and a Coffee! Nice big spin to start things off LOL Glad the game worked in your favor this month! I hope you have an amazing reading month 💙 I'm very interested to see what you think of your Secret TBR book ^-^ I have read that one, if it is what I think it is.
I just don’t know when I am going to find the time hahaha. Life has been wild lately! I have a feeling I’m going to enjoy it, but I know that author is hit or miss for a lot of people.
Love your choice for Genreathon. I also haven't read any Kristin Hannah, but have hauled a few from the thriftstore. One of which is The Great Alone, which is probably the one I am mosted interested in. For the viewer prompt I am going to try to add in The One and Only Bob by Katherine Applegate to my TBR. I loved Ivan's book and have wanted to pick up the next one.
The best Audiobook I have read lately was “The Princess and the Scoundrel”by Beth Rivas. It’s a Han Solo and Princess Leia romance/adventure. It has wonderful narrators and has great sound effects that add to the experience.
