FINAL FANTASY XVI Producer Naoki Yoshida and Composer Masayoshi Soken reveal the games that made them into the people they are today and those that mean the most to them. FINAL FANTASY XVI is available now on PlayStation 5.
These two legends care a great deal for their community, and for the legacy of their games in general. Truly an example to follow for all gamedevs, especially nowadays. Thank you for being awesome, Yoshida-san & Soken-san!
Really pleased to see Soken make reference to the big music collab you put together with Alex - Soken's story is inspiring and what you and the rest of the music community did was absolutely heart-warming and a great tribute :)
Yep most people would claim business division 1 to be one propping the series. But no truthfully there has been a lot of misses as well as hits and a overall reliance on convoluted and nostalgic games.
4:45 I'm glad it left an impression on Soken! Shout out to Alex and others for putting the project together. I was just one among over 1000 voices, but was so happy to be a part of that collab!
I’m pretty sure he’s talking about Husky’s FFXIV community medley specifically! In which I only played a very little part Husky got working on it right after the digital fanfest as a way to say “welcome back” to Soken. It’s so heartwarming to hear about how Soken received it! The Close In The Distance collaboration was released only some years after
@@AlexMoukalaMusic Ah, I had thought about that, but since Soken said "gathered a whole bunch of players to sing as one big group" I had assumed it was the Close In The Distance collab, but before that he mentioned "those influencers who focus on sound and music" and that sounds more like Husky's musician collab. Maybe it's both, but either way both are amazing!
Soken and Yoshi-P are the Uematsu and Sakaguchi for a new generation. Much like their predecessors, they are not afraid to take chances and risks to make sure that Final Fantasy continues for years to come. They also show a passion not just for the games they work on but the community as a whole that few other games care about. The future of Final Fantasy is in good hands.
When I played FF16, this was honestly one of the best soundtrack I've heard in a game ever. I think that Soken is one of the game composers of our ages, FF games always have great soundtracks but he's special.
I love that these two are so appreciative of their audience - both of their "most memorable moments" are proof of that. The whole situation with Soken's illness during ShB development, how it was kept secret, then eventually revealed to the fanbase and much of the dev team only after he'd recovered at the virtual fanfest that year... I still get teary thinking about it, I'm getting teary now. And then the music compilation that the community put together to welcome him back afterwards being his most memorable moment... Imagine if you're Husky or Alex or Denmo right now, what a massive honor. Okay, now I need to go find the ninjas cutting onions again...
@@joaog4277 I do think XVI blends nicely both elements of DMC @ FF. As for the characters and story, no other FF game has made me like and actually care for both as well. To say I’m not a FF, is a poor presumption on your part. I assume you’re a one of those turn base purists?
Thank you both for an amazing game, mentioning FFXVI in this solely. Having been a giant FFXIV fan, I have always stayed a big fan of you two's work. Final Fantasy XVI was just amazing, and I am currently replaying it, because of both DLC's releases. The music, the atmosphere, the story... It never fails to amaze me, and it will always stay close to my heart. The OST is something I listen to daily currently, because of this replay and it just keeps hyping me up. Thank you both, again!
The friendship these two clearly share is wonderful to see. I feel honored to be a guest in the wonderful world (FF14) they have helped to create. I love how down to Earth they both are, and how they both acknowledge and respect the rest of their teams as well. I have so much respect for both of these humans, and wish them nothing but happiness, health, longevity, and love for the rest of their days.
I bought FFXIV Dawntrail day one and FFXVi this week. Im so grateful for playing both games, Im having a great experience with FFXVi while Im waiting FFXIV Dawntrail releases, thanks for all the love and hard work you putted in both games! ❤❤
I’ve been playing the FF games for the first time since the Pixel Remasters came out last year on PS5. I’ve played and platinumed FF1-10, 10-2, 12, 7 Remake/Rebirth, Crisis Core and 16. Currently playing FF13 and will then do FF13-2, Lightning Returns and 15 to finish my binge. Can’t wait for FF17. Keep up the good work Square. The plan is to finish the whole series before going for FF14 on the PS5.
@@jenemba3 FF4, 6, and 9 are my favorites. With 6 being the best. I’m really liking FF13 a lot right now and am excited to play the rest of the trilogy. I don’t understand the hate for the trilogy. Lightning is an awesome character.
Awesome Interview! Thank you for FF16, its one of the most epic and awesome games I have ever played. I hope for a PS5Pro Patch before replaying It ❤ Currently I am scared to start the rising tide, i dont want this game to be 100% clear and done 😭
I love yoshi p, he seems like a really good person and he really is a great director. SE is lucky they got them. That’s why I support SE still because they have these people working for them, I really hope their sales on games gets better.
When Soken mentioned eternal wind it came to my mind instantaneously, its actually absurd how good of a track it is, how it evokes a sense of the adventuring the world, the pixel remaster version is even more gorgeous, Uematsu still got it
Thank you both for bringing Final Fantasy back to greatness. I can't wait to see what 17 has in store for me now after being disappointed for so many years.
Thank you so much for all your compassion and endurance, truly, honestly it's amazing. I love FFXIV, and FFXVI is really awesome as well. Both games shows all you and your teams hard work and passion behind it. The music, story, gameplay, graphic, landscapes and all the content, everything, in both games. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. orz 皆さんは本当に最高だと思います!心から感謝いたします!
Last few years have been really rough for me, health wise etc and in my recovery I found 14, it didn't take long for me to be watching the live letters and then later attending London Fanfest. 14 has become a home for me, meeting friends, experiencing heartwarming (and aching) stories that have given me a welcome distraction and all of it would not be the same without constant Soken bangers. I owe a lot of happiness to these 2 amazing individuals and the whole team behind them and I will be forever grateful. Looking forward to Dawntrail and everything after! Thank you for the great interview!
Such a great interview! Thank you so much for all of the hard work you both did for Final Fantasy XVI, and for helping to make such an amazing new entry in the Final Fantasy series! I love Final Fantasy XVI, and I would honestly be more than happy if CBU3 is able to also have opportunity to create Final Fantasy XVII as well! Regardless of who makes the next mainline Final Fantasy, though, I’m very thankful I got to play Final Fantasy XVI. It’s an amazing game and an incredible entry in the Final Fantasy franchise!
Despite what people had to say about FF16 and its departure from the other titles. It was the most fun for me even while I play FF7 rebirth currently. There’s no combo game like FF16 and I really love when the combat system *CLICKS* for you, you start to come up with amazing techs and combos to defeat enemies with a ton of style. I really like the fact that some OG fans hate this because it shook stuff up from what they’re used to! It was needed in my eyes!
Mr. Soken and Mr. Yoshida, thank you very much for making this game. I bought my ps5 just to play this game and I love it so much. The story was wonderful, the music was beautiful, the characters are full of life and so complex, the visuals oh so stunning. Thank you very much for giving us XVI!
YoshiP's description of getting into game development because he was "amazed that he could move something inside the TV" is just so full of child-like wonder. We need more people like him making games.
I remember when i first met Yoshi-P at Pax West(Seattle) when they were showcasing FF14:ARR before it release for the titan trial shook his hand and didn't even know who he was 😢
FF 16 OST is my sons (7 years old) first favorite Videogame Score. I think this was his entrance into the Videogame Soundtracks 😊 He especially loves "Find the Flame" 🎉 Thanks for everything 🎉 FF Fan since 97' here ❤
I am a Final Fantasy fan for life. Best video game franchise of all time. I love FF 16 and I am looking forward to play FF 17. I hope Square Enix work on multiple FF games at the same time in order to reduce the 7-8 years gap between each game. I want to be able to play more FF as long as I am alive
Ludwig: I'd like to thank my parents for making me play musical instruments instead of video games. Soken: Mom!!! What have you done to my saved game!!!! 😭😭😭
