I recall buying slime out of those little quarter machines in the 80's when I was a kid. They were in plastic containers and Florescent pink and green. Slime is not a new concept.

Of course it’s not new but the market has expanded. Slime is no longer about the 25 cent containers you’re taking about, it’s the ASMR crowd on RU-vid, the artisanal types she listed here, it’s for fidget toy replacements, and sensory activities. People add all sorts of things to it now and make it at home. It’s become such a large industry of its own in this day and age. It used to stain, and it used to be one consistency. Now the new products don’t leak or stain and the items you can blend into the slime are part of the sales. It’s a whole new spin on slime today than your childhood memories of it.

I watched a tutorial video on You Tube about one of those Slime Stores in NYC. The whole store is dedicated to all the slime products. Guests can play, frolic, lay and interact with pools, and vats of every color, texture, of slime. It was fascinating, and something I never knew about. It blew my mind. None of it is edible, but a lot of it looked edible. There was a section on the history of Slime, which included Silly Putty™ & Flubber™. This modern product doesn't stain your clothing, or hands, as far as I could tell.

This was one of the better episodes of this series.. it's a shame the episodes are so freakin' short and a good chunk of it is just ads. Some of them have some legitimately interesting info discussed and funny interactions.. they could easily make good content for a while longer.

I immediately thought of “Ghostbusters” too. I just made the connection that their special effects budget must have consisted mostly of Borax and glue.
