How do you feel about The Garden? How would you compare it to Derek Jarman's other films? Have you ever visited Prospect Cottage? Which films would you recommend similar to The Garden? Thanks for watching!
30 years plus onwards and the same news stories are coming out daily. Some things feel like they'll never change but I guess we have to keep on fighting till they do. Derek Jarman. What an unique and incredible director. Sebastian, Jubilee, Carvagio (oh sweet heavens young Sean Bean), his incredible version of The Tempest though I really don't know his later work nearly as well. I've seen Blue (listened? That screen became too unsettling imagining going blind to look at the entire time) and parts of Edward the Second but I've haven't seen the Garden. I was a bit hesitant if I was going to but then I remembered Jarman made Jubilee which is punk as fuck and punk rock is about I've been listening to a bunch of great queer punk (Ryan Cassata's This Machine Kills Transphobia has a been on repeat lately) and fuck Marget Thatcher and fuck hate and that garden looks nice.
The garden does look nice! I think if you're already familiar with Jarman's work, The Garden is worth seeking out. It's not the film of his I'd recommend easily unless if people had already seen quite a few of his films. 😁
