Gardening season is almost here, and that means it's time to plan the garden layout! There isn't much growing in my garden yet, but I have lots of exciting plans for the 2024 season, and I'd love to share them with you. Come hang out and walk through my garden with me and we'll talk about plans for the season.

So exciting to get started. I think I’ll set up a tomato trellis similar to yours. I like that idea with the welded wire fencing. I bet it works well. Your lettuce always looks so good. I only seem to grow bitter lettuce. I just cleaned up my bean remnants last weekend off of the trellises.

We’ve been happy with the fencing as a trellis. A cattle panel would be a sturdier option, but at the time we put these trellises in we didn’t realize how easy it was to transport a cattle panel without a truck. This fencing works well too, we just had to make sure to secure it well.

Thanks for sharing. We've successfully grown small pumpkins (winter luxury, sugar pie, Cherokee tan, Angel hair) successfully on trellis 2023 zone 7a E TN. We also grow Blue Lake (stringless) pole beans and pickling cucumbers successfully on trellis. The one other plant we very successfully grow on trellis is Red Ripper peas. I tend to direct sow my seeds here, even the tomatoes grow really well when direct seeded into the gardens. Elephant garlic does very well here in the south. Perhaps relocate the asparagus roots when they are dormant. Asparagus grow really well with strawberries. Where are your peppers going?

I realized that I forgot to mention my peppers! Peppers have always grown much better for me in pots than in the ground, so those will be on my deck. I’ve had really good success with pole beans and cucumbers on my trellises in the main garden, but I’m leaning towards trying some winter squashes, mini pumpkins, and possibly some melons that I’ll start early inside since my melons didn’t do well direct sown last year. I’m thinking that moving the asparagus may be a project for this fall - so at least that gives me a few months to find a new spot!
