Very important to remember that Selen has even said *_herself:_* _"If I don't bully You _*_AT ALL,_*_ like not even a lil bit, _*_LIKE NOT EVEN A LITTLE TINY BIT?_*_ If I'm being overly polite to You, _*_THAT'S WHEN YOU KNOW SOMETHING'S WRONG._*_ That means I hate You... (Dragon Chortle)"_ Selen truly is Nagatoro Personified. I'm amazed nobody has drawn art with Selen and Nagatoro's shit-eating grins. The ones with the crazy eyes. It would fit Selen to a T.
Selen bullies ALOT of people, but its just that endearing and entertaining to watch especially when the victim plays along with her. Also this stream, we saw a few Teetee moments of both of them like her getting revenge for Ike when he got killed. I love their dynamic~
3:36 for those who want to know. Gaslighting originated from an old film with the same name (Gaslight). The husband character basically manipulates his wife into thinking she's going insane. for the purpose to sending her to a mental institution in order to steal her inheritance money. on another short google search, it turns out it originated from a book, which then got turned into a movie. Both are named "Gaslight".
I love their dynamic so much omg, it’s so funny to see Ike getting bullied, sorry Ike but it’s such a good entertainment to see you flustered whenever Selen said something 😂
To answer their question, the term comes from a movie, based on a play, called Gaslight, which is about a mentally and emotionally abusive husband who manipulates his wife into believing she's insane. I believe this, as the kids say nowadays, tracks.
but why is it called that way? if the name movie originated it, and its the movies name, it should have an explanation, right? or is this just gaslighting in itself? damn this is confusing
@@Jawny00 *sigh* part of the story involves the wife seeing the lights flickering in the house and the husband trying to convince her it's just her imagination when really the lights are flickering because he's turning on the lights in the attic to rummage through her stuff. the plot of the movie is a guy marrying a woman to get to her aunt's jewelry so he tries to get her institutionalized and take everything she has.
Waahh.. so sweet of Selen... Ike did mention before that he usually stay on the hangout channel even if he's just by himself. And if there are others . He doesnt always join the convo but he listens to them
Come on now, Ike. It's better to suffer together with Selen than alone, also many people can watch you suffer xD Yeah I wonder where "gaslighting" term came from. I just learned about it recently Prof. Oliver is the best senpai in NijiEN indeed 😂 Love their chemistry, so cute. This is like siblings when the older siblings bullying the younger siblings lol
It comes from a movie appropriately titled "Gaslight". A man was trying to convince his wife that she's crazy and hallucinating, and one of the things he does is intermittently interrupt the gas to the house's lamps so they flicker, and pretend they hadn't flickered at all.
The last part is just EN clenching their fists tightly to never let Oliver out of their grip LOL good luck to Prof, apparently even Shu's manager said Oliver's unofficially half-JP, half-EN now.
I have seen "gaslight" as a term a lot on indie vtuber dramas lol but is so wildy used that it lost meaning, people throw it to mark someone as the worse person that can manipulate when in reality is just a disagrement between the two and one is over reactian. Is funny when selen uses it cause is closer to the meaning, push someone into believing what you want them to believe and shape they reality, in real situation is bad yea, but as selen says "Its playfuk when is me"
1:25 selen: "I'm reclaiming 'gaslighting' to be more playful .... it's playful when I do it .... I'm a good senpai." me: "strange goal, but okay. I think I trust you." 2:42 chat: "ike is already gaslit to believe she's a good senpai." me: "😳 oh goddammit, I fell for it too! should've known. only a gaslighter would say *"'what is that supposed to mean?'"* 10 times per stream."
