Hello, and welcome to Hanwell Zoo. We're filming from the newest animal space at the zoo, welcoming our newest residents - this lovely troop of black-and-white ruffed lemurs.
This species is critically endangered and just like the other 20 species in its family, they are at risk of extinction.
With other good modern zoos around the world, we do what we can to save endangered species and to educate visitors about conservation.
we're currently at a critical point in the climate emergency. It's estimated we lose over a 150 species every single day. We all need to act now. We need to start treating the planet like we treat our own homes, because it is our home. It might be hard work and feel inconvenient at times, but the effort we put in can save lives and habitats from all over the animal kingdom, including ours. This is something we all need to be talking about. Make a start today by having a conversation with your friends and family about how you can minimise your impact on the planet. Collectively the changes we make in our lifestyles make a difference. Make sure your voices are being heard at home, school, work, at businesses you support, and with your government. You are all hopefully aware of the promises being made at the COP26, but that is all they are, promises. We need more than that. We must come together to ensure our governments act on their promises and go above and beyond to reverse the devastation humans are having on our fragile planet. We have one planet and 1 chance to save it.
