The Gate of the Chateau is Gone. Checking Restoration Progress 

When I was a child my fathers always stopped at old gates and was delighted. He explained to me all the details of the blacksmiths work. Now I am 60 and still today I stopp at old gates and think of my beloved father and enjoy the artwork. He was a blacksmith.

Beautiful Gates Wow .. even little deeper green .. try Gold with colour you choose first .. not too light because in Sun might look too light .. Suggest try look colour out in Daylight .. my lipsticks always different in daylight many times disappointing inside shop lights very different with colours Good Luck will be watching

Somehow I missed this video when it came out . These gates are and will be absolutely beautiful when they are restored and set back into place . It is wonderful that there are still craftsmen and artist that can do restoration work such as this .

You should add your own initials somewhere on the gate because you are also the owner of the chateau. Add a small caduseus with your initials. Maybe the bell could be painted a special color in order to make it a focal point. Your enthusiasm is palpable. You have obviously spent a lot of time researching designs and decorations and it creates a lot of joy for you. Enjoy every aspect of the recreation of your home. Also, I wanted to ask you: What medical specialty do you provide? I have been a medical transcriptionist here in the U.S. for 32 years and for the past three years I have transcribed autopsies. Pathology is my favorite field of medicine. I am thoroughly enjoying your vlogs.

The gray color chosen with the background of the blue gray color of the sky, makes invisible to the eye the main door of the castle. You need a contrasting color.❤❤❤

Congratulations on your beautiful project. I hope it's not too late for my recommendation: I've renovated 4 houses and built 2 houses. You may want to consider installing the gates last. The reason is you will have trucks coming in and out of the house to remove construction debris and move dirt for the gardens, perhaps redo a concete foundation, etc. It is soooo common for these trucks to scratch, bend the ironwork, or brake the motor. It's not worth the aggravation of getting the comapny or insurer to pay the damage... that's if you get lucky and are able to prove who did it. I see you have space. Find a safe place to store them under lock and key and install them last. Also, in terms of the garden, make sure big construction phases are finished before you begin to work on it; or that the portion of the garden you are working on is very far from the construction. You may need to bring in a truck and scaffolding to work on the roof, the façade, or to do something related to plumbing. The dust from the construction alone will kill small bushes and plants that aren't yet established. I think your vision is beautiful and wish you a lot of luck with such a massive project.

Magnificent! Might I suggest that you integrate a modern electronic door bell that would ring to the house, or your phone, when someone pulls the cord for the bell (rather than just the push of a button.)

Great job - very interesting and nicely edited. We are in the process of restoring the gates at our chateau in the Dordogne. While they are not as grand as yours, they are quite large and heavy. The atelier we are working with has told us that we should not motorize them because the motor will burn out relatively soon. Would you share with us the company that produces the motor you are using as we would be interested in discussing this with the atelier we are working with.
