Thank You. Bamboo has a great admiration for the music and the message of Dispatch. That's why they covered the General. It was fitting at the time (2003-2004), they actually have a song condeming the Bush administration and the ill conceived Iraq war, it's called Mr. Clay. They are in line with Dispatch as far as the message of their songs go. They are a socio-political band. I love the band for that fact. It's good, relevant, and responsible music.
eternalelk, thank you for serving the country. I have to say though that the message of the song is anti-war. It's all about not sacrificing anymore blood/lives for other people's ideologies.
That does not diminish the fact that these guys, as a band,, have made two (third one is coming up)albums and numerous others with their previous bands. The tribute album does not diminish the fact that they are CRITICALLY and commercially the most recognized band in the Philippines. You talk about charity work and their spirit; they work with UNICEF and different organizations in that regard. Proceeds from their album sales go to such effort. So yes, they do practice what they preach.
I agree, maybe not so much harmony with this song but they have good harmony with their other songs. Check out their other vids. Breathy, yes. Showy? hmmm. That's interesting, he's actually laid back with this song, vocally and physically. Thank you for the comment, it's one of the more positive ones. I guess this vid has created a Dispatch vs Bamboo fans environment. It's nice to read something objective that lays down the positives of each band.
WELL, TO ALL- dispatch's version is for the AMERICAN ears.. we have different taste in music.. we like this version better so all you haters like mattkoe if you dont have anything good to say keep it to urself..
in not talking about wars.. im talking about on the personal/societal level, between people.. there's too much hate.. some dont want to understand, they just hate instantly.. well, for example for their homegrown artists they put them up then they bring them down.. ei Michael Jackson, Britney Spears etc.. etc.. and it's not right.. and to other races, they are arrogant/racist.. you can't deny that fact.. and again Im not talking about wars..its on a personal/societal level
i love this version but i would like to see "cover" somewhere in this video as this is not their song. in tags, in the title, or anywhere just out of respect because this song is by dispatch. Good cover though. I love bamboo. saw them in the PI at asap one year.
@darylrasco whats wrong with this world? it's you! this is better than dispatch. thay have no right to compose and sing this song. maybe they hire bamboo to write this song's lyrics.
seems that you just can't understand what im saying.. this is our kind of music.. so dont ever say it's trash.. and im referring to mattkoe FYI and its ok if you all dont like it.. where's ur RESPECT, they are icons here, so dont call their work trash.. you dont know them..
astig man... nice version... love the drummers take on it... the syncopated reggae chords in the verses drag a little because hes not too confident with it...
ok nang binagalan ng onti ni Bamboo ung tempo sa cover nila...bilis kasi pla maxado nung sa Dispatch.:D pinaulit ulit ku 2ng kanta n2 nung nilabas nila ung repack ng "as the music plays" :D
this ofsjason guy is a big fan of dispatch even though people think this version is better.. listen dude, don't bust people's balls just because they like this one better.. people have different taste.. there is no right or wrong in music..
well untill you are you shouldnt make accusations and assume that we all hate everyone because of a few youtube comments.. and i can deny that we have a culture of hate here i live here and i see the culture which is not a culture really but a large mixture of cultures.. i walk down the streets and people greet people they've never met and hold doors for people and such.. does that sound like a hateful culture to you? either come check it out or dont talk about it like you know it
They destroyed it? How? Our preferences in music are subjective. There's no way it can't be. That being said, the band took the song and interpreted it in the way best way they know how. They covered it within the context of their musicality and their genre, and no it's not emo-pop. Some people like this version, I like this version...nothing wrong with that. We have different preferences; you may think they destroyed it, I don't. Am I wrong? No. Are you wrong? No. Leave it at that.
I don't agree. How can you say everybody hates when you have not been here to see it for yourself? I do not see it that way, it's not like I go out of my house and everybody just hates me for existing. If some hate other people, that is their choice as individuals. I do not believe the society teaches or encourages people to hate. The ignorant ones do, but you cannot generalize and say that everybody hates in America. There are ignorant people who discriminate in every country, not just here.
are you blind? do you see the video above? who's singing? is it dispatch? dispatch is the original.. but we're talking about this version.. duh?!? tsk tsk tsk.. dont you know that IMITATION is the best flattery? duh?!? ur talking nonsense.. no respect for dispatch? and who are you to talk on behalf of dispatch? ur not even part of it..
Much respect to Dispatch but while you're telling everyone else not to get carried why don't you take your advice and think about who's really getting carried away? You love Dispatch, good for you and obviously you don't know Bamboo, so how can you say that Bamboo is the only who can sing among them? (HE'S NOT) How can you say that all the others play only one instrument? (THEY DON'T) Everyone is entitled to their own opinions and preferences, some like this version better; leave it at that.
How dare you preach about respect then turn right back around say that Bamboo is a cover band. It seems to me like that you need to do F-ing research before spewing your elitist views...so American (I am an American Citizen btw). If you bothered to take 2 minutes and googled anything about Bamboo then you would have found out that NO, THEY ARE NOT A COVER BAND. They are LEGITIMATE ARTISTS who made a tribute album of the songs that influenced their music.
Maybe you 'hate' hate but you're views are rather cynical. I think it promotes hate. A lot of your views are simply prejudiced and that promotes hate and only helps racism. There's a lot good to be seen around here too. It's rather unfair for you to target America and say things as if the whole of America is homogeneous.
They may not admit it, but they are a political band (instead, they choose to call themselves "concerned citizens"). You talk about getting it and having the spirit to back up their claims...I truly believe they do. You do not know them enough(you didn't even bother to read up on the men), to say that they do not get it, that their spirit is not real and that they are a cover band. Educate yourself before taking such claims. Not doing so reveals either ignorance or worse, elitism.
