The Genesis 8.1 figure has introduced a higher subdivision level than previous figures. This can result in extremely high-resolution renders, but also a sluggish viewport experience while we build our scenes. In this video, Jay will show you how to avoid this by switching your figures to base resolution while you work, then switching back to high resolution when you’re done. We also introduce a helpful tool that makes switching all items in your scene a breeze.

Jay, this episode was indeed very helpful. I often wondered why my computer suddenly became incredibly sluggish while I was working with DAZ. I always had SubD activated and often set to higher values than 2, but I didn't consider that it was precisely this calculation that was tying up my computer's capacity in the long run. Thank you very much; now I can optimize my workflow even more. Grüße aus Leverkusen :)

does SubD help with things like collisions and smoothing? - so say i could have a sphere press into another sphere and make the collision areas match more carefully?

so if i just set my models to base (or 0 in view), will the render still be in the higher resolution? What is the downside of just working in base?
