Haibooooo I didn’t know that you were a filmmaker 😱 And you made a Tusker ad!! ❤ This is beautifully insane 😂✨ I’m absolutely subscribing and binge-watching! 😬
I said this under the Colon and Samir podcast as-well. something into the effect that I miss the bru show Dan is a huge inspiration to me. And although I do miss his RU-vid channel beast for philanthropy is awesome and so well made since he started . One of the coolest somewhat famous filmmakers out there I love his work . Also by the way I think there are parts of Dan's life that could be made into quite interesting movies. Like feature length type stuff.
Nice interview. But I don't think it's accurate to refer to him as the genius "behind" Casey Neistat's videos-he was only involved for a short period of time, and even then, wasn't he only involved in-not behind-those videos?
If you asked Casey, he would concur with the genius in many of his mentors. Even Isaac Newton said his greatness was gained by standing on the shoulders of the giants that came before him. I think your ignorance of how geniuses are created native and nurtured, etc. insults both his friend and Casey himself. Ask Casey the next time you worship his being.😅
Primarily true in the case of Casey's outpput but there's always some intangible synergy involved with people around you. Casey pulls from all kinds of people's stuff that may not be readily apparent from the casual viewer. Even from Casey himself. Casey will let Dan make the claim because they're friends and it's good for both of their reps regardless.
I watched the whole interview and I really felt related with Dan in a way, as emerging filmmaker myself and having a RU-vid channel at the same time, I ask myself those type of questions about which way to go, traditional or non-traditional, focus in one or another, it's tough. Really interesting, it leaves me thinking about life and decisions, I hope one day to collaborate in big projects like Dan is doing right now, thanks to both for the cool talk, hugs! :)
It's a tough balance to strike as an emerging creator. Keep putting in the work and honing your craft and more opportunities will come! If you're looking for more tips, I have a Discord community with 4,500+ creators sharing advice and ideas: discord.com/invite/created.
I appreciate how quick and sincere you are with your compliments or to reassure someone of their accomplishments. Especially with Dan, who doubted himself a few times, you almost argued with him that he is intelligent, creative, and successful. Keep that up in your interviews.
How incredible for your viewers who get to sit in the comfort of their homes and watch u interview these big u tubers sharing their life stories. U sure ask the best questions and know how to make them feel comfortable so they would open up. Love your laughs. Very proud of u. Keep in shining 💕🤗
I first came across Dan through Ben Brown's videos. ( I don't think Dan mentioned it here, but did mention to Colin and Samir first knowing Ben and that being his initial link to Casey years back). Back then Dan was just the cool friend who came along on trips with Ben, had some cool videos on his own channel and that was about it. It's crazy to see how much Dan has progressed to a respected director on his own, and then furthered his career with Casey and and now he's at the very top of the RU-vid eco system.
Thanks for this, Jon. I miss seeing Dan and his videos. He's a genuine guy and has an amazing philanthropic heart even prior to joining the Beast team; an all around good guy.
I have the feeling that Casey is the worst boss EVER. He doesn't give you time to learn, punishes you for stuff you can't even know and expects you to be able to work for him 24/7. If I would work for him I'd tell him to do better or quit! I know Casey is a huge idol but... for anyone reading this: If you ever have a boss like that tell them they suck
I've listened to a whole lot of these podcasts with Dan. Here's my very unpopular opinion, honestly, I don't think Casey is all that great and it's sad that Dan puts Casey on a pedestal when Dan is the one with REAL "talent". And I also find it sad that people romanticize the idea of an abusive, selfish work environment just because the person is "important" based on their social status.
You're a very simple merican first off Noland isn't a bloody editor so your opinion is irrelevant seeing how this interview was about Dan's editing role In the team . Comparing him to one of the stars just because your very emotional about the fact that Noland has fans is just u crying out of jealousy .I personally wonder y scam artist RU-vidrs like Logan Paul or the completionist have fans still not some random dude on the internet who would obviously click with a lot of people when the fan base is the size of 300 million
You asked his story it's good but you should ask what things we need to learn to become a RU-vidr, or like him. If someone doesn't know anything about all these things RU-vid, storytelling, and filmmaking then where should they start the journey? What do we do after listening to his story?
Great content as always. anyone else notice a weird dancing noise happening in the shadow of the lamp behind Dan? been distracting me the enitre time. i tried changing the quality on my end but i still see the artifact.
Thank you for this ep with Dan. Really Loved it. Keep creating amazing content. i am a very editor spelizie in short form editing let me know if need .
I dont' have the ability to make films like Mr Beast does, but I think that most of his videos are very inane and mindless, Dan Mace is wasting this time working for people like him. Dan is talented enough to make much more relevant and consequential movies and become a better film maker than Mr Beast.
His videos bring views, which brings in revenue, which goes towards helping people. It appears to me that this is very important to Dans heart. It’s beautiful actually. Using his talent to create and tell stories that have tangible life changing impacts on humans lives. He’s not wasting his time. He’s living his purpose in accordance with his values. He should be applauded. And is..by me.
@@kidheyful When I say "consequential movies" I'm talking about films that will have a greater positive impact on society than what the revenue created from bringing views will. Mr Beast has videos with hundreds of millions of views, and its things like "buried alive for 50hrs" and "willly wonkas chocolate factory". If you have the talent to make films that Dan does, what about making films that revolve around important issues of our time. I'm sure you could think of a more relevant and consequential film to make than "I ate the world's largest slice of pizza".
@@S-WS-lx2hm that’s Mr.Beast. You’re thinking quite narrowly about it. If a. Ideo about eating pizza brings in a million dollars - and that money can be sent to feed a starving community - for some, that may be more worthwhile to be a part of then say, filming your dream film. It depends on your value system and what’s important to you. Clearly, to Dan, he has a value system that puts philanthropy above his goal of a feature film - at least at this point in his life.

To be frank, there's so much knowledge in this interview for a free content. I wouldn't be able to afford such a valuable information if I'm asked to pay for it. So, I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to you both and the amazing team behind the camera for giving us such a great content. Thank you 🙏

@@youshaei Wish I could find better words than "Thank you". But please do know that you really touched a soul with this your kind gesture. I'm on the other side of the world but I've felt your impact so deeply. Thank you, posterity will never forget 🙏
Paused at 43:45 to search Dan’s video, “new job” at his RU-vid channel. The behind the scene is awesome! Then back to Beast Philanthropy YT Channel to watch videos before “we saved an orphanage” and really noticed the difference! Dan’s videos were very pleasing to the eyes, easy to understand, playful (graphics, narration, then later on Darren’s charm is a plus indeed!) but heartfelt (scenes, real situations, interviews). It’s fast-paced, too fast, I think, that it leaves you wanting more! Haha, and so you watch it again 😅 Awesome work, Sir! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼Now, back to the interview! 🙌🏼
