I was until I realized Frank didn't speak much on his passing. I'd only assume for intentional and personal reasons so out of respect I didn't mention him. However, I did put him in the backstory section of the video when they were toddlers
despite Frank having basically no presence online beside his music, i still somehow feel like i know him on a personal level. he is truly a generational artist we will remember forever
When frank oceans album blonde first came out I didn’t listen to it Idk why and I love frank. A couple years later I was going through a lot and one of his songs came in my suggestions. I played it and ended up listening to the whole album by accident and it was a great emotional experience. I’m glad Frank is back posting after the passing of his brother, hopefully we get more music from him.
My first listen of blonde was 2 and half years ago. I was dealing with a lot and I was pretty depressed. Blonde literally saved me, and I think it will stay my favorite album for my whole life. 2 and a half years later this album has aged beautifully for me and is still just as good.
I was struggling with depression and it’s funny how I came to listen to frank ocean. It was through GTA that I first heard nights and it helped me tremendously. Ended up listening to Blonde ever since and I still can’t get tired of it.
Wow. Thats crazy i had a similar situation with motm and i loved cudi. But just his new stuff and all that. Good albums really come at the perfect time in our lives
Oh absolutely same for me. I don’t know if it’s every fan, but given his coming out and more emotional songs, I think a good portion of queer people have a very strong attachment to his stuff. Maybe that’s just me tho lmao
Blonde is one of the best albums... of all time. Literally. The mood change between Nights at exactly 30 minutes into the album, Futura Free & a ‘light yearʼ at 9:24, a light year is 9:24 trillions long (if I remember correctly lol). Frank Oceanʼs just a pure musical genius & I'm very happy that heʼs doing other moves outside of music.
@@kylatokki22 Futura Free is the final song of Blonde, which is 9:24 minutes long. The last words said in Futura Free are ‘How far is a light year?ʼ A light year is 9.461 × 10^12, like you said. Which is 9:24 trillions long, that's one of the reasons why Frank is a genius.
the thing that makes me love frank ocean is how emotional and private he is, he's a big figure in my life becos his music has helped me through living in a toxic environment and i respect his privacy and hope i can see him live or bump into him one day. i love how he's in the spotlight but not IN THE SPOTLIGHT
Bro this guy is crazy. His ability to explain, research, break down, and so thoroughly understand the allegorical meaning of entire albums is actually unmatched
This is one of the best videos on Frank. Well done! I know he’s a super private person, but I’d love to see him sit down with that guy from hot ones. In the very, very few interviews I’ve seen, he gets asked stupid, generic questions. That “what do you want people to know about you as an artist” part made me think of that.
Watching videos about the genius of musicians but I want to acknowledge the genius that is you, Daniel Eason. As a writer, a creator, a thinker , a story teller. The intentionality behind the work and the attention and care given to your video essays. You too are showing us that you can make things happen for yourself with commitment to your gifts and passions. Thank you
this is why i love frank so much. had the biggest finesse in the music industry, opened the gates to many artists just like himself, and perfects his craft to the t.
I found Frank when I was 13, and i´ll be honest, my English was trash and I had no idea what his songs meant. But I´m so thankful that my friend, that disappeared and I no longer have contact with, showed me Frank and therefore helped me figure out who I was. Who I am. Now that I´m nearly 18 I realize what his music is actually about, the truth. Hidden in metaphores so that those who don´t know, can´t understand. Becuse it´s like that all the time, if you haven´t experienced something, you can´t relate to someone who has. I think, in order for someone to enjoy Franks prodigy you have to dig deeper, feel the music and what it means to you. You can´t listen to Blond if you´re not in the right mindset. Dig deeper guys, dig deeper...
It's crazy how you mentioned frank's work not being immediately listenable. That's what happened to me. I thought his music was trash and basic at first. But i don't know why, i just kept going back listening to it. Then i heard Nikes. And it was transformative.
frank honestly is my favorite artist, every single song is made with so much soul and it makes me feel like i’m floating. I love how he’s not on the internet and a very quiet artist. makes him more mysterious and when he drops music it’s a shock for everyone. his style is different and speakers for the majority of us.
Frank Ocean is undoubtedly one of the most talented artist of our generation. Can’t believe “Blonde” is now 5 years old astounds me. And chanel ORANGE is nearly 10 years old, I remember in 2016 listening to this during the night and just thinking of how good this music really is. I’m honored to of listened to Frank’s music! 💜
i first heard blonde in late 2019. it took over my life in a way i never expected. then early 2020 i heard super rich kids from channel orange. and i loved it. then the whole album. just a masterpiece. then finally nostalgia ultra. and even still i cannot rank them on which i enjoy the most
I listened to frank ocean a lot in high school but when I hear it now all I can think about is college and how I was completely in peace whenever it played.
My top 2 artists are Kendrick and Frank Ocean and I feel that says a lot about Frank Ocean, given that Kendrick has released so much music. As much as I love To pimp a butterfly, dam, big steppers and MAAD, Blond is my favorite album. I discovered it right after a break up and didn't even like it on the first listen. But idk man, something just clicked and I was hooked. I can listen to it on repeat and sing along to every song for hours and hours and just stay in my feelings. It's just a magical album.
I had just gone down a Frank Ocean rabbit hole (damn you, nostalgia) when I managed to stumble across this video. Boy am I happy I did, this is some great quality bro.
This guy put immense effort for this almost half an hour craft. Eloquently put every pieces in the most simple yet broad way to narrate Frank's life. Appreciate you bro!!!
I remember sitting in my room with my older sister when I was just in 3rd grade and she was playing thinkin bout you. This was the first song I listened to by frank, and something about it just touched me differently, for a while after that I remember just kinda forgetting about frank until the begging of middle school when I really stared listening to him, and it had been years after his albums released. I thinks this shows how much of an impact his songs have on people, because even thought they were written years ago the songs are still being listened to. I will always a listen to his songs like it’s my last time hearing them. I’m now a freshman in high school and he is my all time favorite artist
I got into his music when I randomly came across "In my room" on spotify, and was immediately hooked. Since then, I've listened to all his songs and love them more and more upon each listening. Thanks for this video, it was really well made, subbed :)
I came aross channel orange in 2012, i still don't know how, but i loved it instantly. And not how i enjoyed other artists and their albums, i truly loved that album deeply. I still do. I think it's the way you feel it, how you feel the songs. You don't just listen to them, you know? It's the best album to listen to when you're in the backseat of the car with headphones on, or on long bus ride in the rain.
My favorite Frank Ocean project is Lonny Breaux ❤️ those timeless songs and ever so relating lyrics have left a huge impact in who I am today. I was introduced to it through a dance video to “sucka for love” and have been hooked ever since. I think a lot of artists should take note from Frank ocean, your art can speak for you.
I Thank God for Frank Ocean really, i mean if it wasn't for him i would go thru a lotta bad times not listening to his masterpiece especially Blonde. I didn't know anything about him back then I just got the time to listen by accidentally to one of his songs particularly in that album (blonde), first was as I remember self control or ivy idk i forgot it lol and now I didn't expect that I would love the whole album like every time I listen to it it feels like the very first time I actually play the songs in that album. It helped me especially in my post-break up, it made me feel sad as f*ck but whole at the same time like there's so many realizations in my life. Now I can tell he's one of the artist that made me feel inspire and see things differently.
I truly hope that Frank occasionally reads the comment section to videos like these about him. especially times when he's feeling down or bored.... He's really an inspiration to many and his fanbase is very broad and supportive , i know he has to feel the love in some type of way
the first time i listened to him i was like "what the hell is this?" but i slowly gave him a chance and now i'm in love with music. frank changed my music taste for the better.
I really enjoyed this. Daniel's cadence and vocabulary choices made the video so easy to listen to. Almost like he was rapping to the backround music. Fire video man.
Anyone ever think about how Hls Album Blonde is sometimes called Blond on certain streaming services. I think he did that on purpose because Blonde and Blond are both feminine and Masculine versions of the same word. (Similiar to how languages like french and Latin are Gendered Languages) and Frank Ocean is Bi sexual. Pure genius.
the passion in his voice really tells me hes not bullshitting anyone with his songs, like idk how to explain it but he just understands what its like to be depressed. same as Kid Cudi IMO
just want you to know i love and appreciate this video so much. i was already in love with frank before this video and now it’s over i adore him a million times more
From the editing style to the commentary I proper love this video. Definitely subscribing. I love frank’s music n knew the story but it’s great to see it beautifully pieced together. Thanks for creating this video :)
The way this video is put together is incredible, thank you for your talent and hard work. Frank ocean is a living legend and definitely my favorite artist so this video makes me very happy
If I had the money I would donate to your channel. This was a great biography on Christopher/Frank. Our household misses his masterpieces. Wherever he is I hope he is okay. Prayers of positive meditation go out to Frank.
I just want to give you a huge thank you for this video, I'm suppoed to have a short presentation about Frank tomorrow and it's been so hard to find info about him that seems valid. The video was also really nice to watch and you have structured it very well which made it not boring to follow along neither complicated so again thank you
Frank oceans songs from blonde when I first heard it made me fall in love at first listen like no other songwriter could do to me before I never experienced such a deep connection with music before plus it being my first time listening to him. He shaped my music taste and made me fall in love with life at that time even when it sounds corny but thanks to him I saw colors again in a dark time of my life I’m so grateful to be able to live at this time and to experience and feel his music
i was passed down the album channel orange by my oldest brother back in 2015, i spun it for the first time in my 2008 nissan altime and didn't realize then the rabbit hole i'd fall into that is frank ocean, a musical genius for sure!

The first song I heard by frank ocean was Nikes and I’ve never heard anything like it, the sounds and lyrics touched my soul like no song ever had ,he’s my biggest inspiration when it comes to music great video!

Loved every moment in this video! Huge Frank Ocean fan! 💚🧡🤍 Counting down the days that I finally get to see him in Coachella ! Your videos are illuminating Fans all around and saw in the beginning you had Kevin Parker in the back >.> Maybe next you can make a doc about Kevin Parker Aka Tame Impala 💕
EARNED ANOTHER SUB FROM ME! It’s going to be easy for someone like you to gain followers. People can sense fraudulent energy no matter how much people try to hide it. You can tell by the length, editing, and quality that you genuinely care about helping people understand the backstory and passion of these artists. I’m pretty drunk and I’m usually negative in these comments when people talk in the beginning of videos. But I believe you bro. Don’t let the content spew energy ruin you working on things you actually care about.
