Five years ago, Phineas and Ferb went out with a bang with the Last Day of Summer. So for nostalgia's sake, let's take a look back at the series finale that revealed the secret true main duo of the show.
Hi Martin Olson, I'm going to need to get this comment framed! I can't begin to describe how much that means to me. In any analysis or show that I write on, I aspire to make something even close to as wonderful as what you've created. Thank you.
Let’s all be honest. Doof is the most wholesome tv villain of all time. If he didn’t get closure in the final episode the world would have collapsed into chaos
This show was so formulaic, that they even produced an episode taking place in prehistoric times. All the characters just grunted the entire episode, yet long-time viewers understood exactly what was being communicated. Viewers like me laughed the entire episode because of how the series was making fun of themselves and the predictable plotline.
"It was always Doofensmirt's inators that ruined Candace's plans to bust the boys. It's only fair that she gets to shut the last one down." This blew my mind
I wasn't looking for this, but you almost made me cry. I always thought Candance was the main character of the show, not really because of her signature line being the title of the show, but simply because of the premise of the show - making the most of every day. The entire series showed us how Phineas and Ferb (& friends) always made the most of their days by the cool and wacky contraptions they built, but time and time again we see Candance trying to thwart the fun. Ultimately, in the attempt of doing so day after day, she ended up wasting her entire summer because she was too preoccupied with what other people were doing that she never gave enough room for herself. We saw this so many times when she'd flake out on Stacy, hang up on her or Jeremy, or blow off dates midway through because of something with her brothers. That was, until the last day of summer. In retrospect, it took until the last day to finally see that what she'd been fighting against all summer long was exactly what she wanted out of the summer - fun. Memories. I guess that's a bit of a sadder twist, but that was just my thinking. Also, for Doofenshmirtz, I always thought the point of the ending for his character was to show that deep down he was actually too good to be evil, and ultimately he really only wanted acceptance over power.
It's complicated, because Phineas is the default main character of the show, because the show is supposed to revolve around Phineas and Ferb, Phineas being the more prominent one. But on another hand, Perry could arguably also be the main character since he's Phineas and Ferb's pet who also goes to Doof's place, but he's really just the character that connects both of the sides. Oh my word this show is complicated when it comes to who the main character really is, but Candace makes a lot of sense too. Your comment is, honestly, so beautiful.
I think the worst was when Perry went normal platypus when doof was trying to get his professor to see that he had a nemesis. I mean it wasnt an evil plan. It was just getting a diploma
i feel like this show is about candace struggling to find her role as an older sister while doofenshmirtz is struggling to find his role as a father. the parallelism between the two characters is actually genius. i’m so happy to have grown up to this amazing show.
"Until they make this genuine changes in their life, tommorow will alaways be this morning again." this hit me hard and I need to instill this in my mind coz I badly need to change something in me for my own goodness. Hope I won't end up like Candace and Doof. Thank you very much for this
Thank you for watching it. We're all like Candace and Doof in a way- that's why we end up relating to them so much. We all have our cycles we put ourselves through, and only we can truly break them.
We all want to change the present for a better future, but at the cost of making it a memory of the past. One day I'd like to go back to where it all started, if it's possible to remember the feeling of reliving the past. Change is inevitable & adapting is a must, yet I'd like to know more about this feeling of longing to revisit the past
Yes! The reference to her being his daughter was just thrown in at the end of her first episode as a joke. I'm so glad. One of the best parts of the show.
Honestly THIS should've been the end. This should've just been it. No renewals, no reboots. Just everyone sweeping up their last spotlight together as they come together and realize that, it doesn't matter who we were back then or how we grew as characters and as people. All that matters is that we're all here now just taking it all in and enjoying our last day of summer. Then as the camera pans out and fades to black we the audience get to hear Phineas say one last time "Ferb I know what we're gonna do today."
I used to hate Candace but as I got older I started to realize how much I relate to her. This actually made me learn a little bit about myself, and offered some closure so thank you.
Honestly I still hate Candace, there were a couple times in the show where she actually had to consider whether she should bust her brothers or save their lives. The fact that she actually had to have an internal discussion with herself to decide what to do shows that she isn't a good person.
@@jaxonneven6367 I'd argue that isn't so much a "Candace isn't a good person" thing. Think about it. Did she have to pause? Yes. But the fact that she paused in the first place means that she didn't proceed thoughtlessly.
The way I see it, Doofenshmirtz’s parents were horrible to him, so when you think about how they treated him, it kind of makes sense that he loves Vanessa the way he does, and would want her respect, and possibly be a little annoyingly affectionate of her. Also, Perry letting Doof think he saved the day is kind of reminiscent of how their nemesis relationship works. He’s supposed to stop his evil plans, but that’s it.
Phineas does start off the first episode by mentioning they’ll be asked that question when they get back to school! I’d love to see them finally give their loooong answer haha

Although I noticed that as it went on it seemed to go from being about Phineas and Ferb with Doof and Perry as a subplot to being almost equally about the both of them. But by the time it ended it was more the Doof and Perry show with Phineas and Ferb as the subplot.
If you want to accept Jesus Christ as your lord and personal saviour please say this prayer Dear Lord Jesus, I know I am a sinner. I believe You died for my sins. Right now, I turn from my sins and open the door of my heart and life. I confess You as my personal Lord and Savior. IN JESUS MIGHTY NAME AMEN
A small thing I find interesting about this special is how the disappearance of Phineas and Ferb affects Buford, Baljeet, and Isabella. They aren’t up early, they feel more dull in terms of dialogue and mannerisms, and they lack that spark; the idea that you should make the most of every day. Phineas and Ferb do facilitate the arcs of others, and in a very clear way, and that’s what makes them a beacon; it’s what makes them special.
@Freddie Reid Yeah, lol, she got instantly love-stricken the moment she saw Phineas, even before she remembered anything about him, and her change right there from a moment before was like night and day. it was really cool but also really cute.
@@MiloMurphysLaw Wow...now that you think about it, there Milo Murphy's Law kinda retroactively makes this finale even better if you look at it that way!
I also want to add to the amazing observation made by you that perry perhaps plays the most important role in changing doofenshmirtz life and helping him to leave his horrible past behind and look towards a better future with his family all the inventions he makes are like therapy session for him to vent out his rage and sorrow due to his past , I always thought that doof really doesn't pose a threat to anyone he was defeated by a plant for godsake and perry as we see in the show can break through his traps at any time he wishes but does not do it unless and until doof is finished with his story and his reasons in a way by only listening to him perry helps him take out all his grief also doof always puts a self destruct button in his innators even though he knows that it will cause his defeat everytime it seems he does not actually want to hurt anyone all he wants is some appreciation and attention that he desperately needed when he was a kid he only wants people to notice him for once perry being there to stop him everytime gives him this sense of appreciation and attention that he is a legitimate threat if you remember in the episode where he decided to trash talk to whales for stealing his girlfriend perry leaves him to his own and he desperately chases him begging him to stop him it may be a cartoon show for kids but it draws a lot of attention to real world problems that people face evryday and sometimes having someone listen could work great one by one doof got over all hi past traumatic experiences as every time perry destroyed one of his innators it was like perry helping him through and destroying one of his traumatic memories similarily I don't think candace's main motivation is to bust her brothers it is to not be treated as a crazy person and be trustworthy to her mom deep inside she knows that she too just wants to have some fun but her issues and constant urge to bust her brothers stops this from ever happenig her inner thoughts have been shown twice in the show once in which she finally succeeds in busting her brothers in her dream and gets super lonely and depressed after that the other when in her wizard of oz themed dream her mom tells her that deep inside she too just wanted to have fun it sometimes seems like she is jelous of phineas and ferb enjoying every day to the fullest but is constantly denying the fact that is why I will say this show had a perfect ending . Sorry for the long comment but I was thinking about this for a lot of time and needed to share it with someone but no one else among my friends or family will listen to my analysis of a kids show where a little kids create world threatening devices for fun and their pet platypus is a secret agent and saves the world from a crazy scientist anyway if you read till this far you have my thanks and my respect
This is an amazing comment and you made great references to episodes here. Especially love how you described Perry destroying Doof's traumatic memories- that's pretty powerful imagery. I know how it feels having no one want to listen when you talk about kids shows! Trust me though, a lot of people out there deeply care about this stuff! ME included! :O
Vanessa is such an understated, but important part of the finale. Being the one that helps her father change works so well because of her own character development throughout the show. At first, she was a punk girl who tried to be as uninvolved as she can be in her father's schemes and came dangerously close to being like Candace. But, her experiences teach her how to appreciate her father more, discover what actually wants to do with her life, and become more emotionally available to those around her. Her transformation into a supportive and empathetic figure and how she inspires her father to do what will make him truly happy in the end is astounding.
I really love how they didn't make Doofenschmirtz a one sided villain and actually gave him a lively character that makes you want to give him a hug for everytime his inators get destroyed

This show is definitely my favorite non- plot cartoon beacuse of the sole reason because they gave character arcs to characters in a non plot show and did it so subtly
I getting tired of plot cartoons, it was fun at first when most shows where episodic but now it feels like every new cartoon wants to be the next Gravity Falls.

I truly believe that the reason behind this show's success is because when Dan & Jeff first came up with the concept no one wanted to take a chance with it but, they were determined to see succeed and every time it was shot down they went back and rebuild it to be better and better into they got what is hands down the best disney cartoon of the last era.
i would put it in 2 main catagories and 1 sub catagorie. the first one is the boys and the gang 2nd on is platypus and doof and norm and sometimes vanessa and sometimes sad backstories which sound like serious abuse and the sub one is candace and mom(i call this a sub one because it only has at most 1-2 min on each episode while the others have 4-5)
Phineas and Ferb: there’s one hundred and four days of summer vacation Middle schoolers in 2020: there’s more than one hundred and four days of summer vacation
The way I see it, everybody is a main character. Everybody gets moments and episodes to shine. Candace and Doof have major roles in the story, sure, but everybody else impacts the show just as big as them.
doof actually grew on me as a kid tbh he’s not that bad if you think about it he’s just projecting his trauma on his inventions but he was never once toxic to his daughter or the ones he loved
I've always thought that candace was the main character. Her line when she sees her brothers is "Phineas and Ferb!!" which is the name of the show. That was my logic when i was a kid lol.
it's really beautiful how Candace and Doofenshmirtz never lost the willpower to succeed, despite failing so many times; that in itself is a good message but it's even more beautiful that they finally achieve what they really want by finally changing up their approach Candace in particular had to follow the boys' lead of directionless spontaneity, further reinforcing the sad truth of her character arc; she spent every day of her summer blowing up Stacey and Jeremy to bust her brothers (which is why when Stacey asked Candace where her brothers were and she "who cares" it hit like a ton of bricks cause that was a rare instance of the show deviating from its formula) that she let it pass her by. it never occurred to her to join in on the boys' fun Doof on the other hand is a bit more linear. Yes, he realizes he's too good to be evil, but i think it's pretty apparent from the get go he's not evil at all. The convoluted quest to rule the tri state area is just a facade for his broader longing for acceptance by his daughter, whom he loves *very* much and it can never be overstated how much this man loves his daughter
There's and episode where she tricks herself into having fun with them under the pretense of being with the thing to bust it, and completely forgets she wants to bust them until her mom tells her she is coming home. And I think there were a few instances where she ended up having fun anyway and actively tries to impede Linda's discovery (only to then give in to letting them be busted and be treated as crazy when there is nothing there)
one thing i truly adore about this show is the depiction of doof breaking the cycle of abuse. as much as the drusselstein flashbacks are framed humorously, they really do depict an abusive family neglecting a child over and over. of course we see doof dwelling on this trauma and seeking vengeance, because he's never really had enough of a support system to consider an alternative. but the most important part is that HE LOVES VANESSA. he wants her to have the childhood he never had, which results in a smothering approach that she resents, but it always comes from a place of love and respect. heinz is my favorite dad character ever, full stop - his arc is incredible.

I return to the final episode of Phineas and Ferb every year. Today is the last day of summer, and I just finished it, and so I came back to this video essay for the first time since last summer. Phineas and Ferb is just the most perfect show ever made. I don't think another show will ever capture what it is to be a child as well as this show. I don't know what I could say more than that. I considered giving more thoughts, but honestly I'm just going to leave it there. I hope everyone had a great summer, and a happy coming school/work year to all.
It was also her fault to begin with. She was the one who caused ended of world. She wasn't paying attention to Dr. Doorf and press the button of the machine. There should be a episode where some of her class mates talks about summer of how they spend it. While Candace realize she wasted her whole summer busting Phineas and Ferb. Then people are gonna call her a loser party pooper for not knowing how to have fun and spend time with her friends and boyfriend.
I always felt confused after watching the last episode having a “that’s it??” thought. But now I finally understand it and see the brilliance of it all
Are you talking about the episode, where Phineas, Ferb and Isabella are teens and go to college together? Ferb is in a relationship with Vanessa and Phineas with Isabella? Because that is the best ending ever.

Years later and this is still my favorite video essay. Too often do video essays go on for too long, repeat themselves, or operate on reading too much into things in an attempt to sound intellectual. This video is an earnest love letter to a show that earned its praise, and efficiently uses its 15 minutes to teach its viewers the core themes and motifs of Phineas and Ferb, and so you come across as more knowledgeable and wise than many I've seen. I myself have had my entire perspective on the show changed, and it's inspired me to make video essays of my own. They probably won't be that great, but I have this love for childhood summer shows like this and Gravity Falls that I just want to communicate with others. The message of the show that you've helped me to realize is so beautiful. It really doesn't matter exactly what it is the characters are doing, it's that they accept change and learn that what really matters in your life is the time you spend with those you love, who you lift up and lift you up simultaneously, and how you grow as a result.
Thank you so much. I often worry that I’m going on too long or that it’s all not engaging enough, so that really means a lot. Good luck with whatever you create!

I remember when the finale came out. My brothers, who were in college at this point wanted to call so we could all watch it together. When we were younger, we used to watch it all together after school, because it was the one show we could all watch and not fight over. We were all really sad when it ended, because it was a part of us that we would never get back. But when COVID happened, one perk of having them move in for quarantine was that we would watch it every night after my parents had gone to bed and we would reminisce on our childhood. This show brought us so much closer together than I think anything ever could have and I’m so thankful for that.
another notion you didn't really mention is the fact that doof is incredibly smart, he can create anything over a day, yet he's stuck because of how horrible he was treated in the past. The dude could be mayor if he wanted to without any of his villainous plans, he could easily be better then his brother but because he is stuck he cant move on. In away he could be happy and bring others joy like phineas and ferb.
He also seems to skip over the most basic and simple things Like plugging in the inventions, or NOT putting a self destruct button on them. Its almost like he is so smart that it actively works against him. Overthinking everything only to miss the most simple things that cud make it actualy work

This episode 3000% needs more praise, it is the perfect reflection and celebration of the repetition and formula that the show enforces on us for so long. The timing of this episode was impeccable, and when I say impeccable, I mean COMPLETELY PECCABLE
I had never seen this episode, but I find it difficult to express how I feel now, it surely was impactful. I had always thought the "ending" was that episode where they are all grown up. Regardless, I always considered this series as one of the best cartoons ever made, but this adds a complete new layer of genius. To me, this elevates the series to the very top. I can’t be the only one crying after watching this, right? Phineas and Ferb was my entire childhood. I can’t believe it’s been a whole 5 years since the finale. The show inspired my love for STEM and I believe it helped make me into a more creative thinker. Aside from being a kids cartoon I learned so much from this show that will stick with me forever. But unlike Phineas and Ferb, I have a hard time moving on. This show will be in my heart for eternity and while I will miss it dearly, I’ll take a note from the boys’ book and just be grateful for the memories it gave me.
I’m so glad they will be coming back in 2025 but even with it coming back this statement still rains true this show effected us all I will never be able to thank it enough for that
I really loved that it was Perry that discovered Doof's inator wasn't plugged in because he's the only one that would reliably be able to realize Doof was telling the truth about the time loop when he eventually hears about it from the kids. It made me think about how Perry trusted the kids to save the world earlier in the summer during the 2nd dimension movie's "robot riot." I mean, Perry has relied and trusted them implicitly throughout the whole show so it was kinda nice that (for me at least) it ended once more with Perry being able to count on them. For a platypus with no speaking lines, Perry actually was SUCH a good character
Let me get this straight, the ending of a kids show on -Nickelodeon- Disney plays with the collapse of space, time, all sentient beings, and all matter ever. This from a show meant for 8 year olds that started with two brother merely making a roller coaster in their backyard and going to space. This show deeper and better written than the majority of tv as a whole. Bravo.
The genius. This show is genius. It’s not unlike other shows, that it keeps repeating. But unlike other universes, everything that happens will disappear because of the inators, but it leaves an impact. An impact that was become a huge dent that actually helps everything become resolved. It’s now comepleted. It was never about the brothers or Perry. The plot twist was when we REALIZED who the show was really about. Even after all the repetition, we never truly realized it until the end. I loved this show so much :)
When you think about it, it was always there. Everyone carries on as they always have every episode with basically no difference whatsoever....... except for Candace and Doofensmirtz. As we have seen, over the series there are points where they just point out how pointless or repetitive what they do is and are the ones who get sad or get angry or get really depressed. everyone else is happy and pretty content with the pace of their world, and where they are but not them. they always did stick out in that regard. The two villains who really only wanted recognition for something.

Phineas and Ferb had no reason to be this good. Like on the surface you just think it's a fun little show for children, but the deeper you go the more you realize that how well made it is in every aspect. The characters, the insane concepts, the humor, the songs, everything is just out of this world. If there's one children's show deserving of a 10/10 it has to be this one
I've rewatched this show so many times and it always destroys me when Doof destroys the lawn gnome by accident at his father's doorstep, or when he loses to a baking soda volcano for the fourth time. He's not evil, like Vanessa tells him, he just wants something more out of his miserable life, and ruling seemed like a way to do that. And like he always insists, he's not mad. He's perfectly sane. When L.O.V.E.M.U.F.F.I.N wants to destroy summer, he decides that things are getting out of hand and defects. And Candace. Sure, she gets happy ending more often, like with Summer Belongs to You, but this is mostly through Jeremy plotlines. Her main plot never can end in happiness because it requires Phineas and Ferb to fail, and as Milo Murphy's Law has said, everything always goes perfectly for her. The finale was amazing, but that final moment, sitting by the tree, talking, until it fades out into the soft music... I will never not cry at that, and the following song is amazing, but the end... it just hits different. It's just about the time, not the weather. As the final season shows us many times, between Act Your Age, Doof 101, Father's Day, in season 2 with Quantum Boogaloo, and even in Milo Murphy's Law, their adventures won't end with the summer. They have a world of possibilities outside the door, and they won't waste a minute waiting for it.
Its crazy how mind blowing this revelation of the main characters is. Now that I think back on my memories of this show, almost all the conflict resolved around candace and Doofensmertz. They were the ons driving the plot line, they were the ones with sad backstories, they were the ones with relationship struggles, and they were the ones who the whole story revolved around. All Phineas and Ferb ever did was build things and invite people to play with them. Thats it.
She did in "Phineas And Ferb Get Busted" but that was candace's dream inside of perry's dream and she did in "She's The Mayor" but an inator rewinded time to the beginning of the episode and i think theres more also
"It's not about what you're doing, it's about the time you spend with your family and friends..." And here I thought I'd survive without getting teary-eyed
*Fallingwithstyle:* The ending of Phineas and Ferb was genius and no one's ever given it the credit it deserves *Me:* This channel is underrated and no one's ever given it the attention it deserves.
@@Fallingwithstyle1995 You know I'm glad you're getting credit for something other than Inanimate Insanity. Your movie reviews and analysis' are amazing.
Dang, not only that, in retrospect, they hinted that an ending like this would be what had to happen! There's a handful of episodes where Candace temporarily successfully busts the boys, or where Doof has successfully taken over, and both these situations are always framed as bad endings that need to be undone! They straight up showed us that either of these characters achieving their aims wouldn't be good for them multiple times, and then they finally end it like this? With the characters finally figuring out what they actually need to do to be happy?! Genius!!!

@@RaulMartinez-gd3pw I appreciate it! Work has been keeping me busy, but hopefully there will be more to come soon! I also co-direct an animated series on RU-vid called Inanimate Insanity! Just finishing editing a new episode for it dropping at noon.
The ending is very underrated, and doesn’t get the respect it deserves. Neither does the show. My parents enjoy it, so does my sister, but my cousin, and a couple of my friends think it’s stupid and boring. It’s one of the most well written shows to exist. Same with all the movies! There are character arcs, different voices, a good plots, a perfect ending, secrets between owners, and pets, and great antagonists, etc. What else do you need for a perfect TV show? It’s also very appealing to adults with the wordplay, some adult jokes, and overall random moments. This is one of my favorite TV shows and anybody that thinks it’s boring doesn’t appreciate good writing, or cartoons. I’m 11 years old, and I still enjoy it! It’s a very well written TV show!
I always saw Vanessa as the Agent 99 to her dad's Maxwell Smart in the show which worked so well. This was one of the very few GREAT cartoons/kids shows of my kids younger years that I could sit and watch with them.
There were so many episodes of phineas and ferb I don’t even know if i watched the last day of summer. I just remember watching them in random order everyday lol.
If there's one thing I love about the characters in this show, It's their color schemes. Let's look at Linda, Candace, and Phineas, The three basic main characters of the main story of each episode. Each of them serve a role in each episodes story. Phineas builds the inventions, Candace tries to bust him, and Linda needs to see the invention to bust the boys. Remove one, and what I said above completely changes, as seen in this episode when Linda completely changes when some are all of her children are forgotten. Each of these characters are shown to be connected by their color schemes, each of them having some red, orange, and white on thier hair or clothing, showing that they are all a cog in a repeatedly spinning gear. If one cog is removed, then the gear is obviously going to change somehow. Let's look at Doofenshmirtz, Vanessa, and Perry next. The main color that connects them all is the color black, Doof's shirt, Vanessa's entire outfit, and the black on Perry's fedora. The black on each of these characters represents thier goodness: their allegiance to the good and their hatred of the bad. The black on Perry's fedora is pretty obvious, he fights for the good guys, and so do all the other agents. Doof's black shirt symbolizes that him being "evil" has really just been his mild annoyance of miniscule things. He's not evil, and you can start seeing this throughout the series, mainly in his relationship with Perry, going from his arch-nemesis to his best frenemy. He tries to cover up that he is really not evil with his white lab coat, a color that is uses mainly on the other, much eviler characters in this show, like Rodney or Dr. Diminutive. (Note how he is not wearing anything white in OWCA Files or as Professor Time) Vannesa is wearing fully black because he dislikes his father's evil nature, and just wants him to be a good father. A few minor ones in include how Isabella's white mixes with Phineas' red to make pink, Isabella's main color, symbolizing how she's always wanted to be with Phineas, like their colors, or how the second dimension, which is the true opposite of the first dimension, reverses the colors, make black a symbol of evil until they rebel, reforming black to symbolize good again.
Okay, but did you have to make me tear up while listening to your analysis? It's just, your conclussion was so meaningful and sweet I couldn't help it.
Now the designs of Phineas and Ferb also make sense. Candace, their parents and the neighbour kids all look like normal people. Doof kind of does too, although he's a bit weird, but he still has human anatomy. Phines is a triangle and Ferb a rectangle, though 😂 That's because the other people have designs that are supposed to make them more relatable while that's not necessary for the brothers, they just need easily recognizable and bubbly designs.
I DIDN’T LNOW IT WAS THE LAST EPISODE I KNEW SOMETHING WAS CRAZY MEANINGFUL ABOUT THE WHOLE EPISODE WHEN I FIRST WATCHED IT, I CRIED AT THE BEGINNING BECAUSE THE SECOND SONG IS BEAUTIFUL AND SO FUN, I CRIED IN THE END BECAUSE THE LAST SONG IS JUST BEAUTIFUL I’VE ALWAYS FELT THAT THEY SURPASSED THEMSELVES WITH THE SONGS IN THIS EPISODE THIS SURE IS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL ENDING IT COULDVE BEEN
i love this essay so i'm gonna summarize it here 1. show's driving characters are candace and doof and how they intricatley connected yet knowing of each other 2. summer feels long until the last minute just like finale and it starts out fresh but becomes cyclical and formalic just like the show and the finale 3. until you do drastic changes in your approach you will end up with same results as always, and in the finale they do finally look at things from a diff perspective 4. it was never about the inventions or the crazy journeys but the people you do it with. its never really about the activity but the time you spend and the people you spend it with that counts and matters.
@@Fallingwithstyle1995 omg I really appreciate that you took time to read such a long comment and responding even after this video being 2+years old with 3M+views Respect! (And btw your essay captured the show's essence so beautifully and what I was feeling inside that I was getting literal goosebumps and nostalgic. So thank you for this splendid trip down memory lane!☺️🤗)
I both loved and hated this review. On one hand it was like you were ripping my heart out by telling me phineas and ferb weren't the main essential characters, but on the other hand you were telling me something I knew all along. That Candace and Doofenshmirtz were super important and made things progress. You can especially see that in the new movie, which was amazing. I'm currently rewatching the show and only have a couple episodes left, so this will be good to keep in mind when I'm rewatching the finale. Thank you for making this video and I can't wait for you to review the new movie.
Think about it this way: the show does not work without Phineas and Ferb, because they are the catalyst for Candace's entire character arc and conflict.
When i was younger, i thought this show finale would be like all of this was something that Candace wrote in a book, detailing every summer she had with her brothers. Examples like the beach in the backyard was something that she did to cheer her brothers up because they wanted to go to the beach that day, but something happened and they couldn't; the rollercoaster where Candace walked into their room and saw them making some crazy toy rollercoaster ride. The fights between Perry and Doof were something she created because they had a cat with a weird orange tail named Perry and she spent most of her childhood with him, imagining him being a secret agent.
@@nitamishra9645 just like the Caillou fan theory that Rosie is adopted, the narrator is an older Rosie, and Cailluos story is about a kid diagnosed with cancer. That would explain why in some episodes the story is talked about in the past, unlike traditional kids tv that tells story in the presence, Caillou is allowed to everything and all in all why the story is told in the first place
What I think is an interesting concept is what “winning” is-you actually do see Candace and Doof win throughout the series; they grow as characters, they get these small moments of contentment in their dissatisfied lives. And yet this one goal is the only thing they’re focused on.
Wow, I've never seen it that way! Candace just focuses on one thing in her life and gets obsessed about it. She always refuges change. Candace just focuses on one negative thing and basically wastes her time the whole day - the opposite of what her brothers do. Now I kinda can relate to her. xD Oh, I just noticed: Maybe Candace also has the problem that she wants to grow up too fast? She always wants to show her mom that she can be responsible, like an adult. And she always acts like "oh no, that's childish, I'm too old for that". But her brothers enjoy their youth. Candace rejects that, because maybe she doesn't allow herself to enjoy it too, because it's childish in her mindset. She's kinda jealous and like "if I can't have it, you can't have it" - even though she isn't aware of that. But in the end she accepts her being part of it and allows herself to enjoy it. She doesn't limit herself anymore.
