There are so many that ought to be canonized, Seraphim Rose, Nikolai Kotelnikov, I know there was a martyr in the Chechynan war, and Chiune Shugihara. We gotta be patient with this stuff. May the new saints pray for us 🙏

It's Dumitru Stăniloae, not Dimitry Staniloy. 😅 Doo-me-trough Stuh-nee-lohah-eh I am aware that it might be difficult, especially for native English speakers, who don't have certain sounds in the language, however, "Staniloy" is already two kms away from the original. 🙂

I believe the other word for “canonized” is “glorified”

Technically this is just the official announcement, but not the actual canonization itself. However, it's prefectly okay to declare them Saints already, because it's pretty much guaranteed by the Icons being blessed by the Church. We just don't have an official veneration canon yet. Many people were calling Dumitru Staniloae and Arsenie Boca Saints for years in fact, which is actually, historically, part of how canonization is even considered, in most cases the laity already starts a veneration before the Church hierarchy gives it a canonical status.

They did not rush the canonization, they announced it'd be official. The canonization will be in 2025, possibly in February, when we celebrate 100 years of being a Patriarchate. This week, their official icons were published. Their liturgical services will be published later.

I think that the Glorification Services will be in 2025 at the 100th Anniversary, this was basically saying that there is more preparation than the last time Romania did this, there was no Icons or Service Liturgics for the Saint. Also I think it means that people have a chance to name their newborns for them.

@@telosboundnot yet. I don't know how this rumour spread in the Orthosphere, however everyone in Romania knows they are not officially canonized yet, but merely announced to be canonized. The Synod is preparing something big for 2025, and they have been dropping "sneak-peaks" over the last 4 years, with a few announcements of future canonizations here-and-there. This is one of them.

Saint Arsenie Boca and St. Cleopa of Ille are 2 of them. Most of them are 20th Century Confessors.

At the start, you are mistaken. The canonization is in 2025. Now, it was published as the official decision. But the service for canonization will be in 2025.
