The tune for this hymn is called Michael...the name of the composer, Herbert Howells's son, who died when he was just 9yo. He mentioned him in every conversation he had with people thereafter, so damaged was he by the loss. As a boy, he played the organ at the Anglican Parish Church in Lydney, Gloucestershire in the UK - not 10 miles from where I am typing this comment. Nicely sung GBC. Howells would be pleased. Of course, another great work by this much underrated composer is his Collegium Regale - the Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis for Evensong. Magnificent!
