I think Andrea is doing it more for clout than anything, however, it does show she is aware that Molly has done a lot for her. I bet on season 2, it will be revealed Andrea has none, or little, real friends. She's on her phone 95% of the time and we don't even know if her followers live in Brighton. Molly will probably try to be her first real friend, especially considering Andrea helped pay off her house.
Ironically I wanted to see what the show was about so I binged it while eating tacos. Only after a bit realized that scratch LOVES tacos and found it a funny coincidence.
I saw another broke down why comparing TOH, Amphibia and Molly McGee isn’t smart. Because they’re not the same KIND of show. The first two shows are high fantasy with action and adventure and rebellion plots about overthrowing tyrannical leaders. Molly McGee is basically a slice of life show with one single fantasy element
I've always thought they were "apples to oranges" comparisons as well. Plot aside, I think Molly McGee is also targeting younger audiences than shows like TOH or Gravity Falls. I'd say GF and TOH target the "pre-teen to early teens" demographic most, while TGAMM is more of an "all ages" show that targets kids to pre-teens more.
@@urphakeandgey6308 Fun Fact: Steve Loter is the executive-producer of this show. He's also a writer for Clerks the animated series, Duckman, Season 5 of Ren and Stimpy.
I definitely enjoy the series so far. I like Andrea Davenport, her interesting relationship with Molly, and how they finally became friends. I love Molly's friendship with both Libby and Scratch. If I am being honest, my only nitpick is how Molly needlessly destroyed the chairman. There will clearly be negative consequences for what Molly did, especially since we know so little about the chairman and his role in the ghost world. It's also possible that the chairman will return.
same, chairman was a really cool villain but right when he got interesting with the reveal that he literally eats misery in The Jig Is Up, he gets killed off for whatever reason. I hope he makes some kind of return in S2.
It’s funny how I was just thinking about how this show is one of the best new gen cartoons earlier and then this video was made not too long ago. Might sound controversial but I think Disney is the only company that still cares about making good cartoons/shows. Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon haven’t been good since 2015 (I might even say 2017) and yet Disney channel and Disney XD are still dropping hits like The ghost and Molly McGee, Big city greens, Miraculous and all the other live action shows like Villains of valleyview etc.
Basically, if you liked Amphibia for its plot and lore, you're probably not gonna like 'The Ghost and Molly McGee' as it is right now all that much. If you liked Amphibia for wacky adventures and cute found family fun, it's right up your ally.
Followed the show since it premiered. Really love it and look forward what direction S2 will go (SDCC around 2 more days from now). If S2 gets more lore heavy, I just hope new audience doesn't look at S1 and call it filler season (like Amphibia). Also how dare you say Lock, Stock and Peril was one of the weaker episodes? It had by far the best Darryl, Sharon and Pete moment in the entire season :P
@@r211Afan Dissapoint? I wrote "if" they did. If they do or don't I don't care as long the show keep being good. @Dradekon Well, there's a spot for a new chairmen ;)
Even though this era of Disney shows is ending and once toh ends we only have tgamm I’m sure the fandom will stay strong as it always has I can’t wait to see what new shows we get that we can hyperfixate over
You calling this a "girl in another world" story warms my heart. I moved a lot growing up like Molly and it's the closest you can feel to being "from another world." Especially if you changed countries like me. I also settled in my "forever home" at age 14. Molly was 13. I relate to Molly so much because of this, on top of being mixed race Asian-American just like her.
I like the show but I do have some problems with it, it not the best but it still a good show and I hope it gets better in future seasons but I like ghost and molly mcgee
I actually prefer ghost and molly McGee over the owl house and amphibia - it doesn’t care about story and I think that’s great: it gives the show time to focus more on its characters, the chemistry between those characters, and it’s humour, which is absolutely incredible.
Yeah and for me I like shows and books I can relate to and I relate to the character Molly in the show because her emotions are always all over the place
I watched this show weekly when it was coming out and am glad i did as it is great. this video covered a lot of my feeling about the show and im glad other people will at least watch this and if they haven't already, gain some interest in the show to at least try it. It's not owl house or amphibia. it doesn't try to be gravity falls or p&f. It is it's own show and while it may take similar ideas and story telling methods from the former shows it still stands on it's own as a fun Disney show that is enjoyable to just watch.
The main cast and EPs did an off-the-cuff stream a few month's back where they dropped hints about the next season - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Qk6tLucalik.html Also they are doing a panel in room 6a at SDCC this Saturday
If Lucky Penny is your favorite episode you would like the anime Good Luck Girl. Itchgo Sakura is the Luckiest girl on earth but she sucks away everyone else's good luck. The poverty goddess is trying to suck away her good luck to balance out the universe.
7:20 Oops. I theorize that she's trans because of various factors and that would be her dead name (and the reason that she's sensitive about her name, being misunderstood as being stuck up about something unimportant when it really is important). Plausible hance it ages slightly poorly. I mean you have a big picture of Amphibia's Andrias there anyway so It's No Big Deal v(^-^)v 11:04 I mean, you can't say it's not on brand. (It's just weird how many BIRDS specifically die...) Too bad you didn't mention another unique thing about Molly's character. She's the type to be so overwhelmingly happy that it can come off as scarier than Scratch's actual attempts to scare. It's the classic dynamic, overwhelming normal human moves into the house of a rather down-to-earth supernatural creature.
I have never watched a show that I clicked with as much as this one. It combines all my favorite tropes. The "human befriends a monster," the "jerk with a golden heart" (Scratch), the "always hungry friend" (also Scratch)...can you guess who my favorite character is?? If you haven't seen the whole show, I feel bad for you. It may be rated TV-Y7, but it has some surprisingly dark elements. I'd say you could even watch it with the whole family! If I had to rate this out of 5 stars, I wouldn't be able to, because it surpasses a measly 5 with flying colors!
I just hope they didn't jump the shark. It's as if the writers said, "We don't think this show has much of a chance compared to the other popular shows, so we'll have to cram it all into one season and get the story out." I don't think they expected the hit they have, and I wonder if they are fretting about where to go from here.
Tbh I think that tgamm might be like amphibia bc at the start of amphibia there's a bunch of filler eps that not everyone finds enjoyable even I found it kinda boring at some point but then it gets really interesting it's kinda the same with toh, the only reason ppl like toh slightly more is bc the main character is in a same sex relationship (which isn't really fair) but anyways I'm not giving up on tgamm bc I believe at some point it will get interesting
(SPOILERS) The only real complaint I have with the season finale is where they killed off the Chairman. Sure, it unlocked some neat ideas in the next season, but they could've easily saved killing him off for the finale of the show and just showed the reprecussions of it in the epilogue. He felt like a cool mysterious villian in S1 and had a lot of potential, but it feels like right when he gets interesting with the reveal in The Jig Is Up, he immediately dies. Kinda lame honestly.
I don't like the humor and I haven't laughed at any joke yet. I think it's a bad show, not terrible but I don't think it can be compared to Amphibia. I hate The Owl House though.
