This is truly an honest analysis of Marylin Manson. Brads take on it doesn't have all the hype and pseudo intellectualism that Brian puts in the story. It's real. "Only the good die young." RIP
It really strips away the 'mythos' of MM, that really it was 5 young guys having fun and playing music, toying with clothes and graphics and dark lyrics.
Bradley was better looking than most woman. He spent some time in L.A.and when he came home around 1989, he looked completely different. He had dyed his long gorgeous locks purple and wore 70s polyester shirts, flowered or striped tights, jean shorts or skirt, combat boots and a lunchbox. No-one looked like him in South Florida until he met Brian. The bands looks and popularity all started with Bradley. All the girls went to Spooky Kids shows just to see him. I can recall my friends begging me to go with them so I'd introduce them to him, like it was yesterday.
"technically, we sucked" This interview is gold. I love hearing how much he brought to the band. I had no idea. Feels like such a genuine and authentic interview.

13:45 "people thought we were gay so we kinda had gay sex on stage" amazing I love it rip gidget gein he was all the style for marilyn manson and the spooky kids.
Met him with a fellow junkie but all around best friend somewhere on the outskirts of Lauderdale in a humble apartment with his old lady circa 96...he had the clean cut thing going on and seemed 2 hold back on any vitriol towards brian and had kinda resigned himself away fro it all...I remember being really respectful and realizing he possessed a higher level of street wisdom...I look back now and think wtf I didn't even grasp the weird synchronicity of it all...saw my art and told me u gotta beautiful gift don't squander it...life is f'n trippy
Ya dude I respect his mentality a lot imagine getting kicked out of band that is huge and one of the most popular bands in the world it’s gotta be tough
Brad was such a driving force, so ahead of his time. The spooky kids would have been nothing without his aesthetic contribution to the band. They looked so cheesey before he joined and they all adopted his style. 🕯🌌💜🌌🕯
amazing & inspiring artist. one of my favorite people. but... never EVER underestimate the power of heroin. it will beat you every time, no matter how talented you are. RIP.
Marilyn Manson’s job is to be Marilyn Manson. He’s not going to really authentically let you park behind the curtain because he is the wizard. He’s just doing his job.
i always watch this ever few years and the scott one. i love how gidget says pogo was the smartest guy he knows but also stupidest hahah, and says scotts epitaph should be "no im not gonna do that". you can tell he has great respect for the previous band members but knew them enough to break their balls
@No One You think hes an idiot yet your here listening to him...something like heroin addiction doesn't correlate directly to someone's intelligence and self awareness. What do you think yourself as? An intelligent person?
@@invertedcrown heroin, right? that’s an insane story to have about your friends, in my opinion. cool as hell you got to go to his shows. i was way too young when he died.
@@larcenie thanx... i grew up in ft. lauderdale area... my friends and i were all teens when MMSK showed up on the local scene.... my 2 close friends (guy and a girl) started hanging w/ brad and doing dope... just as i left for college... good timing lol...
I love that he called his era of MM "gutter glam". They literally looked like they went to a disco and got too drunk and slept in a gutter, then woke up and played that show especially in 96 97ish
Fun fact, The movie *Party Monster* (about the Micheal Alig story) Marilyn Manson plays the role of Christina the first transvestite *Queen of New York* "How do you like my UFO?"
The part where he's talking about Scott is the reason Scott got fired . A band is push and pull , if you going to be hard to get on with all the time , then you will soon get the boot.
Yeah this. I knew Scott and he really was like that unfortunately I can see why Manson got tired of him he was a contrarian hipster to the core. As much as I like the guy he basically didn’t want to be marketable or sell out at all or fit into any “gimmick” and so if Manson didn’t move on I don’t see how it could have exploded in popularity like it did….
He's spot on about Scott. Was watching an interview with him the other night and it smelled of pretentious self importance as if he was a genius and Trent had no part in it. Sadly, even with all these brilliant ideas Scott supposedly had, nothing really came from it after he left Marilyn Manson, despite believing he was a genius. Goes to show a band is a group effort, and Marilyn Manson is nothing without his band.
I didn’t get that at all. I get that from this dude here. He talks more about image than music. And since when are the Cocteau twins pretentious? It’s middle of the road in terms of experimentation and structure.
Fun fact. Twiggy came up with the name “Antichrist superstar” and I believe wrote beautiful people, angel with the scabbed wings, coma white, disposable teens, and dope show just to name a few. I understand what you mean but twiggy made the band prolific
Manson should recognize (before he dies) that brad and scott were the main talent in his early band and he just stole their work and ideas like he did with zim zum later
No.. It was not that deep.. I (sort of) knew Brad (peripherally, I was only a preteen/teenager at the time) but, he had a tough addiction. Brad unfortunately killed himself with his habit, bless his heart. His art remains dear to me and I'll never forget the amazing music he introduced me to, but "Manson" had nothing to do his death.. Other than the obvious..
@@evangeline77x no he KINDA did in the essence that Brad returned to drugs as a coping method because he missed Brian lots but Brian was using his style still. How did you get to know him? were you part of the Gidget Gein bored?
he was super cool and nice. and just a cool person to hang with and be friends with. Unlike Gordy(Jeordies spooky kids groupie name) who tried to constantly be like Gidget, from the dresses, hair etc.
he said his first gig with them was when they opened for nin in front of thousands of people?? but he was playing with the spooky kids in small clubs long before trent reznor came along? am i missing something here?
I'm pretty sure he meant that they were heroin addicts bc he said he had trashy women not just trans women he was involving himself with when he was getting back into drugs I don't think he cared about them being trans as he basically has called himself that and said it was cool he had trans people in the audience at shows earlier in this video the "trashy" hes referring to is probably that they were strung out drug addicts and he was a good looking dude in a locally popular band and looking back probably he would have never involved himself with those people if he was sober and in the right mind not because they were trans but bc they were strung out on heroin and probably only helped his own problems get worse
