My guest today is Nikki Sixx and I have to tell you, this is by far one of the best interviews and guests I’ve had on the podcast. I grew up on Motley Crew and no doubt this interview surpassed all my expectations in the content he shared, his authenticity and so much more. You won’t want to miss it.
Nikki Sixx is one of the most respected, recognizable and entrepreneurial icons in the music industry. He founded Motley Crew and has been sober for 21 years. He is incredibly passionate about his craft and wide open about his life in rock and roll.
He was an All-American kid growing up. He loved to hunt, fishing, he chased girls, played football, but underneath of all of it, there was this burning desire for more, and that was music.
It’s one of my top 5 interviews, that is all I can say.

I love listening to Nikki talk. Thank you Nikki for mentioning the drugs nowadays and Fentanyl! Exactly what scares me too with my kids. I have a 19 year old and I’ve been warning him and making him aware for the past 5 years about the drugs out there today and how scary and different times are- and don’t ever, ever try anything at any party because all it takes is 1x and it could kill you. Thank you for so much for mentioning that. 💜

I discovered Nixx Sixx after my father killed himself. I was in a very dark place after that but one day we were in the car and I heard Life Is Beautiful by SixxAM on the radio and it immediately caught my attention. It basically described everything I was feeling at that moment and it gave me something positive to focus on. My husband brought home The Heroin Diaries and I was hooked. For the first time in my life it felt like there was someone else out there that I could relate to. I’m grateful he’s shared his story; I’m sure it’s saved many people by showing us there’s always hope and it’s never too late to be happy. Great interview, extremely insightful!! Thank you from Niagara Falls canada 💜

Talk to dads son was so awesome Nikki. I agree and have developed a fully open relationship with my kids and know every time they have crossed the line into adult libations, because they told me. My oldest now twenty smoked pot before 18 and I knew about it when he did. They have been trained not to get street drugs and to stay away from hard drugs. Thankfully, we get safe cannabis as it’s legal in Canada. If they are to have a drink it will be in front of me, as it is legal for a parent to give alcohol to their kids in the privacy of their home/dwelling. Both my sons have full respect for cannabis and alcohol and have zero interest in hard drugs and very rarely like to drink. I do know both like pot but am so Grateful that they are aware of the risks and alway inform me of their decisions. Breaking the cycle starts at home and lies and sneaking around only kills you. Love ya bro. Nikki you are one of the best mentors I’ve every listened to. Keep on rocking. Larry, thanks for this content.

I grew up with out a Father in the 60's born in 1958. I never knew my Father and hated him for not making my life better. I figured that out after I became an adult and was on my own growing up poor. The thing that hurt me the most was being a kid in school with no Father. You guys grew up later when it wan't such a different thing. There were some scars, bullying and such. I grew from it. I took karate, learned to defend myself. When I had seen those bullies later in life they didn't even want to look at me. I was a bad ass. I was a great local musician playing in the clubs. Some thing most of those meat heads could never do and i owed them an ass kicking and they knew it. I didn't kick their ass. They couldn't look at me. lol I got into production later on a couple of years because it paid more money than being a musician with a shit job. I made a great life for myself. I was never a rock star. Locally a lot of people came to watch me play and supported me. I have a much better life than those bullies ever did. I created a great life for myself from music. It took me away from all that. I have never gotten rich but I want for nothing. I'm still working in live entertainment at 64 years old and haven't even thought about taking my social security yet until recently. I learned to be sober and it's like a different buzz and it's good. Your body feels so much better and you can accomplish so much more. I have bit of fun now and then as far as parting. Not often. that needs to be some thing you do for fun and not fall into making it your life. It did take me a few years to learn that. great interview.

What an amazing insight into the life Nikki has lived to the max!! It’s great to see him so happy and at peace with himself having endured traumatic experiences in his past. He talked so candidly about the challenges he’s faced and overcome. Total respect!! His battles have been bloody and he bears the scars. He’s emerged stronger, sharper and able to enjoy a sense of contentment while retaining his drive and vigour. Thanks for a truly fascinating exchange of thoughts and a shared affinity through your respective family experiences. 💛😊🤘🤗

I'd bet if Nikki knew his father, he'd like this guy. And no guy walks out because he doesn't care about his son... it's always a super drag gf/wife they just can't tolerate for one more minute... so they walk out. And then life happens... and all its infinite variables... and a guy may never get that chance to see his kid again.... and he can die... with his son never knowing he always thought about him and really wished things were different and there was the ideal family. I don't know. It's easy to damn someone as a bad person. But life is so complex and there are infinite reasons a person can't see their child, Sure, some men are genuine deadbeats. But that's rare. Because it goes against all human nature and instinct. People want an ideal family. Nobody prefers to have kids all over with multiple women...

Dude if you really knew what Nikki Sixx was about, you would know that your comment isn't even close to the way he thinks. He may HAVE a bunch of money but he's thankful as hell to his fans for allowing him to live the life he has. That's why from the beginning of Mötley Crüe he has made it his vision to give the fans the best live experience he could possibly give. No matter what it costs. I've seen them over 10 times and every year the concert is the best show I've EVER seen. If you want a band that's all about the money, go listen to Mettalica.
