Seems a bit late but after extensive testing, some things very interesting about this ship. After expert engineering 3, 3 CCC3’s are enough to cap-stable rep C-type booster plus 3 hardener indefinitely. This comes very close to being able to face tank almost all but final waves of T10 stories.(Still worth warping to 100 though and playing it safe due to how expensive both the ship and those CCC3 rigs are.) On a side note: Also went pure drone damage rigs vs missile range rigs, and suffice to say, the mission clear time difference was almost unnoticeable. Having 100% of your dps and everything in range at all times with missiles at same range as your drones seems to be comparable in clear speed to pure drone damage settups. It was kind of disappointing since I was really looking forward to some more substantial gains from the increase in max dps. But at very least it does afford people flexibility with differences in play-styles.
@@Cryotyde Yes, C-type medium. Haven’t played for couple months due to work so unaware if the changes since then may have impacted the balance when I made the test. I’m still sure cap-stability is possible but you may have to downgrade propulsion module slightly unless you have higher levels of advanced engineering or that new system I’ve been hearing about that effects modules.
@Captain Benzie - Really you don't need to fit anti thermal rig, it is only 2% in "final resists score", I've tried different rigs and fit combination on my Gila, and now i'm here: 1xCore defense field extender(+25-30% shield amount on T2-T3 rigs), 1xCore Defense Charge Economizer(25-30%Shield boost amount on T2-T3, works great with C-type Large SB = 1200HP per tick), 1xEM resistance rig. Right side rigs are on your choice (mine is 2xAuxilary thrusters + 1xSemiconductor memory). For low slots C-type Large shield booster, other positions are same (AB or MWD doesn't matter, I have 1050 m/sec with AB without signature and capacitor penalty, but flew with MWD as well, MWD is more versatile for PvP engagements and for kiting style PvE). Mid slots - replace Group repair field (you don't need it with Large Shield booster) with Large Group Capacitor transmitter - this one is so useful here... Final stats are 57800 EHP + 606 DPS (296 from drones and 310 from missiles). Oh, and one more thing - atm C-type adaptive invulnerability is 60M on the market, show some love for your Gila =)
Ya 3 semi cond even as a suggestion is just dumb. 1 is enough of t3 and then 1 Aux & 1 dynamic fuel if your wanting more cap benefit running mwd. Which unless you have a tackle ship is almost necessary in special anoms now for elites/angels. Curious what your other kids & lows are. Im about to fit mine and I'm thinking web, target painter, (3rd couple be group module or 2nd painter or maybe scram for shutting down rat mwd).
I have heard Gila is able to solo higher tier stuff like special anoms compared to Prophecy such as DS, inquis. Have you got a good fit for prophecy to solo them? I'm looking for a long time but many just say DS8 isn't soloable in prophecy
In Malaysia, Gila translates to Crazy/Psycho. An expression I used after flying Caracals for so long only to realize there was something way better waiting for the picking. Love this video!
Thanks for the video. And yes nobody can hear the bashing anymore but its true. I would love! to fly this ship but there is no reason to pay the billions instead of a well skilled prophecy or VNI.
I was wondering about that. I'm skilled to fly a Gila, and it is actually my dream ship, but, I'm also soloing t8 stuff with my decked out VNI. Should I just save my isk, and continue with the VNI?
As a Gila pilot, don't lock the drones to watch them. It's a waste. Leave them unstacked, they have little health bars below their icons, and that will let you monitor their health from there. And if you run rapids, you can use a pair of mk7 group shield boosters and keep your drones in the bubble to make them INSANELY tanky in pvp. Seeing as how they're now healing like 600 hp shields per cycle as well. And if they get webbed, just pull em back out of range and send em in over and over again, keeping them on the edge of web range but still mostly hitting.
@@captainbenzie I've always been a drone specialist. Used to run a Nyx in EO. I love carriers. Next you just have to hope your frigates never bump into me in a dark corner of null :3
You don't need to level the drone skill to one, you can control two drones by default. :) They still should, it takes what 12 minutes to train and gives you an extra kilometer control range.
Besides accounting, I have 100%sp into frigates, ab, and small rail. My DD does 560 cold dps and I can solo regular anoms, and special anoms up to t7 (excluding DS).. I want to go faction cruiser to increase my effectiveness spawning special anoms. I don't really see the damage of faction cruiser to be worth the transition and cost to reskill. I know you like frigates and with the new skill balancing my DD is OP. If I put 3 damage mods on its a frigate with 920dps hot. I only use 1 running 650+ hot.
Benzie...great that you feeling better now. What about a re-review of the Corax destroyer line after the new uptade? The rework on the NOS and such. Maybe its role bonus can shine now. Who knows. (?) o7
Torps. Getting almost 800dps on my Gila without damage mods. Small stuff still dies fast and have a great tank. People need to stop kiting already! Get in there and tank!
Benzie, once again you do not dissapoint with some awesome content!!! Quick question for you though..... You call out that you must be tech7 to fly this. I'm new to the game and currently working from tech 6 to 7. I thought the whole point of faction ships was that you could get them regardless of your tech level? Also if this is the queen of pve is there a King?
The point of faction ships is that they are insanely powerful and expensive, so for example this gila could be measured as an tech lvl 9 cruiser! In the beta there was no tech requirement, and thankfully! Otherwise botters could ambush you in a fleet of for example dramiels

My alt is 10 days away from t7 (meaning, currently t6) and I have been in a Cynabal for almost 2 weeks now. I cant be sure at what tech lvl you can use frigates, and I still dont have isk for BS, but you can definitely fly faction cruisers when you are t6. I can provide ss but Im sure you can easily check that.
I have a gila in 0 sec. Very good with rapids and I'm able to run a c type large shield booster on it. It's fast and tankier than a T8 shield tank battlecruiser. The cap lasts for 9 minutes with 2 nosferatu.
Taking another look at the 'Healer' - why? Because it's badass whether I can afford it or wanna fly it or not! Also, I wonder if there's a hint in the 'correct' pronunciation? I noticed the cap'n added a group shield booster in the mids, but it doesn't really get any bonuses from any of the various forms of 'fleet aid' ... just a thought. And one of the cap'n's best vids from 2020. Roll on 2021, roll on EE. ✌

@@aaronwilson6402 And you're right, it increases the target's signature radius making it seem bigger and easier to hit. Once it's easier to hit you land more damaging hits like "smashes" or "wrecks" more often.

Hi captain! Huge fan. I just wanted to comment on what you said about needing to be tech level 7 to fly a faction cruiser, I was flying a Phantasm before I even hit T7, I don’t think faction ships are tech level locked.

I wonder how effective those missiles would be in Bad Hare day when your being guidance disrupted, webbed and scrammed by battleships. Solidly built though, and a tank, but I still would rather be in a Phantasm I think just for its ability to a) Tank and b) run away should it all go Pete-Tong.
Gila does just fine with rapid or medium missiles on Bad Hare Day. Just know which wave has the elites and take them down 1 by 1. Don't sit still ever and face tank with it. I run personally : 1 Large Shield Boost 2 Adaptive Shield 1 Drone damage module 1 AB 2 Group Shield Booster 1 Painter Clear time on Bad Hare Day is roughly 2 hr 30 min to 3 hour on this setup at 675 DPS. (Depends on jumps to mission parts) Didn't claim it to be the best...but it is very capable.
@@captainbenzie Yes that's the only way. If you are also scrammed, have to take those too, with crippled missiles. When they released missile disruptors, they should have also released an effective counter with it

Well ... since patch I got issues with killing those fast bellicose orbiting me at 30km , I cant catch up and target painters don’t help me ... ( doing t6+ special anoms )

that is such an unimpressive ship, the phantasm is better in everyway and the prophecy is superior as a droneboat and does more dps with no high slots.
You just need to try it with a proper fit. Phantasm is good, no doubt, but NPC don't have unlimited capacitor now and large NOS on Phantasm is not so good anymore... now he requires more capacitor management. And with Gila you can stay 15km further than Phantasm from all these scrams and other noisy stuff... Gila is not about pure drone dps, Prophecy is the pure drone queen atm and maybe the best ship for story missions, but you can't do DS6-8 solo with Prophecy like you do with Gila, Phantasm or Cynaball. But... Yes I agree, without faction drones and with lack of SP - Phantasm is the best option, because you can't do the perfect Gila skillset atm even if you are playing from the very beginning ... =(
it also has allot to do with skills trained and this thing will move way faster than a prophecy...plus with so many ships having scramblers now its not so appealing to be right in the middle of the enemy...finally drones don't care about NPC ewar mods while the phantasm will take penalties from tracking disrupers
I primarily fly in a Gila and pop Prophecies on the regular. Some can be quite tanky and potent - skills/pilot depending - but most buckle under the Gila in a short period of time.
damn that is unimpressive....for a ship this expensive....seems like the weakest faction cruiser, sure the ashimu is even worse in pve but it has its uses in other fields...so yeah a solid 4th place in PvE...
i dont feel the ship is underpowered. im not skilled in BC nor would i want too, simply put the gila is doing far better than my navy vexor, so as a drone pilot ill take the gila over the myrm (which i skilled out of) doing 250 mil story in this is piece of cake, 4 hours nice bounties and loot. thanks cap for the alternate fits with those new mid slots, very good idea

The Ashimmu was the first ship I fell in love with in Echoes - it was actually the ship that convinced me to become a cruiser pilot. However, shortly after discovering how amazing the Gila is at both PvE and PvP the Ashimmu has taken a backseat. I love the Gila - it's versatile, tanky, and dishes out nice dps.
@@captainbenzie Agreed. Now I'm just trying to figure out what the heck to do with my Vigiliant. I've done range and brawl fits and I can't decide which I like best. Love the snubnosed dps but I also like being out of nos/neut range (for the most part) at 22km+
Sadly Gila is in a bad spot in echoes. Being an hybrid, not very good at anything, can not brawl can not speedtank, can not perform as ranged drone boat eather (go for prophecy). Gila really need some love and more focus on his drone side (missiles are for M.Legion). Phantasm and Cynabal can both run solo T10 story when this little guy will struggle on T8 ones.
I mean with skilled you can kite at like 50km using medium Missles with target Painters.. So essentially it can kite like a drone boat(not quite as far) or face tank which is nice. With afterburner skills it can semi speed tank.. Or with mwd skills and dynamic fuel rig you can really speed tank without cap issues.
well the gila is better than the navy vexor so its a better choice for me when doing 250 mil story in 4 hours. cant do that currently with the navy vex without considerable amount of time picking away things. with all the new sensors on you it too much for the vex imo
Second time watching this - still not feeling the Gila. Ultimately, it just doesn't make sense to me 😕. But then I'm not Isk-rich. I need my ships to be versatile - I.e., they need to be capable of PVP _and_ PVE
This ship crushes at both PvE and PvP. I solo storylines in my Gila and use it for my primary solo combat scanner. I just started using it about a month ago and I've already got 24 kills with it; the tally would be higher if it weren't competing for kills with my Ashimmu and Arbitrator CovOps. Trust me, this ship does both very well. Ironically it's the only ship I combat scan with that routinely causes battleships to run when I drop on grid.
@@Cryotyde OK point taken. Now I've been in the game for a while I can actually afford one now as well! Gotta be smart with those storylines nowadays, but since versatility is still king for me, I've definitely warmed to the Gila.
