⭐️ Buy the Zhiyun Crane M2: geni.us/XVUC (affiliate) What's up everyone?! I hope this review of the new Zhiyun Crane M2 helpful. This is definitely my favorite small gimbal at the moment. I have it with me essentially every time I go out shooting just in case I want to get some stable footage. That is not something I was willing to do with any other gimbal because of the size and weight. Would this work for your setup? If you have questions about a particular camera+lens combo, ask me below. Would love to know what you think, good or bad. I am grateful in advance 🙏
Hi, enjoyed your review, do you think I could mount an iPhone 8 Plus in an otterbox case on the gimbal? it is 170mm long by 90mm by 15mm deep, the weight is well within its limits. Thanks.
I've been researching and nervous about not wasting my money on gear for my M50. I have been watching you since before I got my M50, so I was happy to see a positive review of the M2. You didn't steer me wrong with the M50 so I'll be purchasing this today. Thanks for all of the quality videos and reviews.
@@SteveSantoianni hey. It works pretty well with the Kit Lens because it's not too heavy. When I put my 50MM lens on with the adapter though, it becomes a lot more difficult to balance properly. Pretty sure it's because of the added weight. It still functions, but not as well as it does with the kit. Haven't used it as often as I would like so I'm still learning.
Sticking to using small and light lenses, I have this gimbal working with my EOS R8 perfectly. It’s so nice to have a light and compact gimbal option for smaller shoots.
Hey bro, believe it or not, I'm 30 secs in the vid and I'm just gonna buy this gimbal. The only reason is because YOU made a video about it. You never fail to deliver. Much love!
Fantastic video, love the channel, great guy, responded to my Instagram DM about a question I had and received a response within 30 minutes! Always looking forward to his next video no matter the topic.
@@TechGearTalk It great. My back doesn't like it though. It's a beast of a machine. I really want to scale down so I gonna offload it in the next month or so.
Very sharp editing!!! Loved the part when you went to the back to pick up the gimbal, and the audio was still on and then you took over talking. That was perfect 👌!!! Most of the time we buy something cause of the brand name however, from what we saw this gimbal has everything any other can offer. Great review, although I was often distracted by those mister gimbal and stabilizers at the back, so yes, please, review them as well!!! Thanks for sharing 👊
Tech Gear Talk That was HOT man. My apologies but sometimes I get distracted from the actual content cause of the editing, mostly when it’s a good one 👍. Thanks man
Im torn both the Ronin sc and this gimbal are on sale... i use a sony a6000 because i wanted the lightest possible plus im not doing anything "Professional" but I did want a gimbal. with the prices theyre ate now BOTH are a good deal. I checked the weight, this gimbal can handle my a6000 and the 4 lenses that I own (sigma 19mm 2.8 sigma 30mm 2.8 yongnuo 50mm f1.8 meike 35mm 1.4) I honestly dont plan on getting more, kind of want input from those a bit more experienced with the gear than I am.
I used it for a couple of days with my A6400. Some issues: 1) couldn’t find the setting to control motor speed with the camera. I believe it works when you use a phone on the gimbal, so not useful for camera users. The speed in my opinion is quite slow. 2) the plastic body can induce some serious scratches on the camera’s body especially while moving it around with the gimbal off. There is only one axis lock and the camera can become super wobbly while transporting. I have scratches on the back of my flip screen and some around the lens cover. All in all if you’re okay with carrying a little bulkier but more robust and safer gimbal for your camera then go for the DJI ronin-SC or something in that range.
Hi there. One question: 1. Do you mean motor speed of the zoom? 2. All 3 axes can be locked if you line them up and press down. This way the camera does not wobble at all. I hope this helps. I would also consider something like the Weebill S ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-urugXDg3hnM.html Thanks for the input
Hey, whats up Sagi.. hope you are well. Loved the video. Super sweet footage on the Crane M2 plus M6 mark 2? Mexico looked lovely. Another straight talking, unbiased informative video. Thanks for posting. I've gotta say I love my Crane M2 on the Canon M50. Really pleased with it. I'm not surprised that's your "go to" travel gimbal. I love that subscribe prompt which lifts up the corner of the screen. Where did you get that from? Take care Sagi. Ray
Thanks for the thoughtful comment Ray 🙏 It's definitely the gimbal I use the most. Someone made that "corner" thing for me a few years ago. Random person I found on the web. I don't know if I can find them, but I'll look.
Awesome video, I been researching for new portable gimbol, I am new in photography and drone photography, this gimbal will be perfect for what I need specially since I have Gopros, Sony a6000, and new Canon M50, is compatible with all my gear. Thanks once again!
I’d be so grateful if you could recommend a gimbal for the SL2. I know between the weight and the usb my options are limited. Was hoping I could get a zhiyun or a ronin to get basic function and then upgrade to a mirrorless and get full use of the gimbal when I can afford it. You’re one of the only cats on RU-vid that gets how great the SL2 is.
I have the "crane m1", the M2 seems lighter, smaller with more features, but on all internet videos you can see the steps while walking (same problem on all light stabilizers), almost perfect!
I bought this to use in Europe. My first trip to Europe so I wanted to make a video of my first time in Europe. But i couldn't go at the end. My flight got canceled a day before I was supposed to take off. Not that I was going to go anyways because of covid. So I've had it for 6 months now but haven't used it. I only took it out to calibrate it with my phone. Which people said it would be the hardest if you had never owned a gimble before. It did take me a while but like 1hr.
I just purchased this gimbal a few days ago-got a great price, love how small it is, but honestly, I have not yet been able to balance it with my new Sony a6600 and any of the kit lenses I have (note that I also have the A6000 but don't want to bother trying to balance that old camera with this gimbal since what is the point of having spent the money to buy a newer, better camera that I can't use due to the gimbal?). I am committed to small cameras, gimbals, and lenses because I want to shoot documentaries while traveling and the APSC line-up is the way to go. I don't see this gimbal honestly working for the A6000 line up-it's simply too small. I'm watching this very nice review gimbal, watching how nicely balanced the A6400 camera seems to be with a very tiny lens, but it just is not working for me with my slightly heavier A6600 camera. This gimbal, that I actually love quite a bit for its form factor, looks to work very well with the Sony rx100 iii that I have. I'm tempted to keep it for use with my cell phone and RX100iii, AND buy the Weebill S. Honestly, this is a gimbal I wish would have worked with my set up of the Sony A6600 and various zoom and prime lenses.
Hi Paul. I have used this gimbal with the a6600 and a very small lens. Of course it's limited in terms of which lens you can use, and it's more difficult to balance because the adjustments are not as precise - but it's definitely usable. It's perfect for the RX100 III The Weebill S is probably the gimbal I use most, after this one: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-urugXDg3hnM.html I would have zero reservations about buying one. It's a great gimbal.
I purchased this gimbal a few months ago to use with my Lumix G7. I've tried it with the Lumix 25mm f/1.7 and the Olympus 17mm f/1.8. It works fantastic with either lens. I even added a Rode Video Micro as well. With that set up, I couldn't go into vortex mode, but it's not something that I use even without the Rode mic. The only issue that I have is that if I connect the camera over wifi to the gimbal, maybe after 30 seconds, the camera display will go to sleep. As if the camera thought that it was connected to a phone or tablet. But this is a limitation of the camera.
@@TechGearTalk You're welcome! Very little people have used M2 with the G7 or G85. I bought "second hand" for $200 from someone who got it and never used it.
Nice video! It's great to get what you think is the best and your favorite! Because then it limits wondering about which one to buy. Of course, It's not always so easy... but thank you for your support! )))
Kinda surprised on your rating. I bought one for the Sony a6400 and it was one of the most difficult gimbals to balance. I was using the kit lens. The AK200 was a breeze to balance. Of course I had hoped to use the Sigma 16mm 1.4 however no go as it was to heavy. Also oddly it just died after a day while on a shoot which was a super bummer. Returned it.
I 100% agree that it is more difficult to balance than my other gimbals, but it never takes me more than a minute. I have over 10 gimbals and I use this one the most. It's a case where I'm willing to give up some features (locking axes during balancing, etc.) for the convenience and portability of the gimbal. Of course, I also have to accept the limitations. I'm super glad that the AK200 is working well for you!
Never used a gimball but looking at them now for video. They look to be a PITA to set up. You have to go thru the balancing process every time you shoot with one? Id rather just use my iPhone or get a camera with IBIS honestly. Thanks
I think this is an awesome gimbal, but it kinda locks you in to what you can use if it's your only gimbal. I think, for the money, the Weebill S would be a better investment, unless you can get both. It would be nice to have this if you are using gear that can be held by it, lenses that will allow you to balance it, but if you are using longer lenses, the Weebill S would be better. More future proof, for sure. But this is an awesome piece of gear, for sure.
Thanks for this review of the crane 2! I'm just about to order to use with my newly ordered Canon M6 Mark II and 11- 22mm EFM Canon lens but wanted to check if this weight would still work on the gimbal? If not, what other gimbal would you recommend?
Such a good video, glad its 2020 updated too, wasn't sure if this was going to be out of date now that I wanted to buy it (with the same sony 6400 so this is perfect!).
I purchased this gimble on your advice, but unfortunately it is not compatible with the Canon M50 or an iPhone. Unable to use zoom features with the Zhiyun app. Total disappointment…
So as far as the thumbnail being the crane m2 with a dslr canon on it..... any chance there’s a video somewhere that talks about its ability to stabilize the camera you actually get people to click on ?
Hi "Ti-Guy".... Did I understand that to be your name. Sounds French Canadian. I am from Montreal... Really appreciate your expertise and clarity. I just purchased the Zhiyun Crane M3 Gimbal. listened very carefully to your RU-vid video that compares the Sony a6400 to the Canon M6 MK II. I am particularly interested in the Canon M50 Mark II. Are you planning on Doing an update to your comparison between the two excellent cameras that are the a64000 and M6 MK II? Will you be doing a review of the Zhiyun Crane M3? If so, what lighter camera would you suggest for between 1000$ and 1500$. ? I am asking for much info, but will accept what you have time to give me as a response. Merci beaucoup! Michel.
Thanks for a great intro. This seem to be a very useful gadget. Would you happen if it would be able to support a Sony RX10iv or would that be too heavy?
Love your videos, and trust your reviews. I recently bought Canon G5X II for walkaround, and travel (I dont travel much). When I click on the links, Its still $269
The discount JUST ended 🙄. Literally was there a couple of days ago when I was shooting. Thank you so much for the kind words and support! It would be perfect for the g5xii
@@TechGearTalk it's on sale again, unfortunately it doesn't look like it supports the G5X II. Record, stop, and zoom. Do you think it'd still be worth it
I recently bought this gimbal and the ZV-1 with a wide angle lens and rode micro. So far I am really disliking this gimbal, I cannot for the life of me balance this with the camera and so the gimbal gets to a point where it wont even hold up the camera (I have turned up the motor). I definitely cant balance it at all with the screen extended. If I do happen to get close to balancing it (enough for it to run, it doesnt get close to great balance) I then have to unscrew the bottom plate whenever I change the battery and I lose balance again. I feel like I may have wasted my money unfortunately :(
I really like your videos and I purchased this gimbal and the canon m50 based on your opinion. My experience hasn’t been the best with it. The connectivity is terrible and I’m just wondering, did Zhiyun paid you for this video?
Just re-watched this video. Question, using the Sony 100, can you subject follow with the m2? I want to self-film a helicopter take-off and landing so relatively slow work. Me flying using remote activation.. Thank you for your great work! - Mark
Hi, really enjoyed this video. I have a question about the gimbal, I'm going on a cruise and want to know how the gimbal connects to the phone because on cruises phones are in airplane mode. Will the gimbal still work?
Hi there you mentioned you used this crane m2 with sony alpha a6100 as well. It doesn't seem to be on the compatibility list when I search for it so I'm hoping for your help, can an a6100 connect with the crane m2 using the app to operate the device? If yes I'll buy it tomorrow.🙏🏻 appreciate your help
Thanks! Those were shot on an M6MKii with the 22mm/f2 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Nir8pfvfdFI.html Hope this is helpful. Thanks for joining the community 🙏
Sagi, another homerun brother. I have an m50 on the way and was trying to decide which gimbal to get for it. Can you tell me where the $70 off offer is? It's not on the BH or Amazon link
I really need to publish the next video in this series. I'ts compatible in that you can balance it and use it. You can't point it all the way up because the eye piece hits the roll motor. That is not super important to me but is a limitation you should know about.
Great video! I just bought the Crane M2 and I would like to use it with my Canon SX740 HS and my Gopro 9. Will I have any issues using the Canon SX740HS? Also, do you have a video on how to attached the Gopro 9 to the plate?
@@TechGearTalk yea dude, I really like when viewer can look into the personal lives of youtubers, I was really kinda sad that Gerald Undone and Everyday Dad switched to those solid color (although, awesomely lit) backgrounds. It feels almost to professionalized! I much prefer a blurred out (clean and organised) living room or bedroom shelf. Also, this set up if far less distracting than computer screens AND you seem a bit more relaxed, or the background gives the effect of a more relaxed atmosphere. I never realised how much the background affects viewer perception of professional versus chill. Just some thoughts... LATERS!
@@TechGearTalk I'm really liking the M6ii. I got a Sigma 24 f1.4 and speed booster, and it's pretty awesome, switched over to 4K, but really wanna try doing a video in 1080 to compare. I used it on my second to last newest video if you wanna see the results... idk, the M6 just 'feels' way better than m50, but I can't tell if the image quality is "way better" cause I also got new lens, lighting, and actually decorated my background... so it might be that stuff more so than the camera lol
I need a gimbal to work with a Nikon A1000 camera. The camera is an excellent performer for my purposes, but I'd like to have a gimbal like the M2 to carry with the Nikon A1000 camera. Any suggestions?
Good morning sir, does this gamble support the SL2 also do you believe it could bounce the SL2 with the Sigma 18 - 35? If not which gimbal would you recommend for this thanks in advance. keep the videos coming
Hi Aaron, you can use the SL2 with something very small like the 50 or a 24. You can definitely NOT use it with the 18-35 because that lens is so heavy. I have set up the SL2 + sigma 18-35 on this: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-urugXDg3hnM.html and still needed to buy the smallrig plate and 150g of counter weights. That way I got it to work and it did a great job.
The new E-M5 weighs 400g or there about. With Olympus 12/2, Panasonic 15/1.7 or Olympus 17/1.8 it will be under 600g. Typically people switch of the IBIS when using gimbal, but I wonder what Olympus IBIS will look like on top of this. The most stabilized 1-hand footage on planet Earth :)
amazing ! Im looking for a gimbal right now. Stuck between this one and the weebill s. Which one would you recommend for an m50 with sigma 16mm ? does the m50 eye piece hit the back motor on this m2 ?
Which gimbal would u recommend for m50 users like me who likes to start with short film making and music vids. Also lenses, can dji ronin support m50 with long and heavy lenses? I'd like to buy tamron 17-50mm 2.8 with adapter
Great work man! I have a question, I would like to use m2 with my canon m50, is it possible to also connect the camera with a power bank when using this gimbal?
I recently came upon the Moza Mini P and was happy to know it not only supports mobile phones ,action cameras but also the Sony a6400. The payload can go up to 900g and it has a pretty impressive battery life of 20 hours. It's a 3 axis gimbal it's only $200 Canadian which is basically $30 CAD cheaper than the Zhiyun. Maybe you should do a review on it, would be great to see.
Hi, great video. I have the M2 but no camera for it and my phone is too big (Note 10+). Can anyone suggest the best camera for the M2 please 🙏 thank you
Hi Sigi, thanks for your awesome advice and reviews on your gear! I own an M50 and have followed a lot of your recommendations reagarding lenses and also this gimbal. So far I am pretty happy with all of it. I have run into one issue with the Zhiyun Crane M2 though, which I am hoping you might be able to help me with: In another video you mention that you can make the Sigma 16mm f1.4 lense attached to the M50 still work on this gimbal, which is the reason I got it because the Sigma lense makes outstanding footage and the gimbal was affordable. However, with that lense, I keep getting 'jumps' in the footage when moving around with the gimbal. So there are these sort of jolts or stumbles of the image, although I am not moving too wildly (in my opinion). I sometimes even get it with the Canon 11-22mm lense... Now I'm not sure whether this is because of the wight of the lenses, with the gimbal having trouble to balance it, or because I move too much with it (I film dance videos mostly, so I walk around and tilt the gimbal a little bit faster than just when I'm walking straight). But even while walking slowly I get these jolts, which is really annoying since it disturbes the otherwise beautiful shots. Do you have any idea why this is? Did you make that experience as well? I'm thankful for any advice you might have :)
Awesome! was having doubts on it because other reviewers were finding it hard to balance it out even on the 56mm 1.4. Can you make a video on it? Maybe light gear comparison with the new Sony ZV1. In the market, Weebill S is an alternate option but feels overkill for light gear. (not forgetting the price difference of $160 approx) Idk when the next Crane M3 will be announced but hopefully the spec would be the best of both worlds. Fingers crossed.
Really appreciate your videos sir. I'm looking to buy a gimbal however i could not decide between crane m2 and m3 . I'm using m6 mark ii + 22mm , in your opinion , can m2 handle perfectly fine?
How would you compare it to the ronin sc? Struggling to seen the difference aside from weight and payload. What are top points to consider one vs another? Thanks
Hi, I have a question. I have the m2 gimbal. When I put on the canon m50 and put the camera face up it hits the back motor. How could I correct this? Thanks, Ken
I know this is a bit of an old video, but I'm wondering if the Zhiyun would be able to support my setup, which is the M50 II + ef adapter + Sigma 17-70 (2.8-4) or the Canon 10-18. I think it's a bit too large and heavy. Any idea if it will work with the Zhiyun and if not what would be preferable? Thanks a lot!
Hi Sagi! Can you recommend a narrow arca-swiss quick-release plate for the M2 and M50 MKII? And would you recommend using the Smallrig replacement (specifically made for the M2), that allows for arca-swiss mounting? I'm going down the rabbit hole and can't seem to find a good plate that doesn't get in the way of the damn battery door! :) Thanks!
Hi Chris. I wouldn't add anything to the M2 because it's already at the limit of the M50. If you got a bigger gimbal, like the Weebill S, then you have options.
Tech Gear Talk Thanks for your reply. I have bought these lenses after watching your video review. I spent a lot of time to find the suitable and reasonable gimbal before watching this video. Thanks for helpful sharing again. 🙂
@@TechGearTalk any comments to Canon M6 Mark II + 16mm 1.4 fixed? I'm curious to what limited in movement actually translates to specifically? I do mostly skate videos, where I am skating behind a rider with my Camera and filming them as smoothly as possible. Not too much creative stuff happening with the gimbal, I'm in it more for just the stabilization. Sometimes I would want to use the joystick to tilt the camera a bit upwards, and then do really low shots to give the impression of more speed, but that's about it.
Looking a bit further, the Sigma 16mm 1.4 comes in at 405g which is about 2x the weight on the EF lenses on the compatability list from Zhiyun, really looking forward to feedback from both of you! :-)
Can you please help me an answer this question because I'm trying to figure out if I can use my Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ300 DSLR camera with this Zhiyun Crane-M2 Handheld 3-Axis Gimbal so can you please help me and let me know if my camera is compatible with this gimbal and thank you so much I really appreciate it!*
Hi, When setting up the gimbal on the m50 I noticed when you try to adjust it with the lens up that the rubber on the eyepiece hits the motor. Is there a fix for this?
I was thinking the Z50 with the kit lens would be good - it doesn't have IBIS but neither does the A6100 your using it with in the video. Do you reckon the A6600 with the kit lens would do a better job - especially with real time tracking and IBIS.
