This video took 2 full hours to film with NO SCRIPT. In fact, none of our videos ever use a script - I always speak from the heart. The G1 was amazing in having the key words projected in front of my eyes. I highly recommend them.
This video is a treasure trove for anyone seeking knowledge. It was done eloquently without dragging on. I feel like every subject got an adequate explanation. Thank you for this video!
Excellent practical use of the G1 glasses. Having been a glasses and contacts wearer for many years, I still learned something new as you worked your way through the Iceberg. Thanks for your continued willingness to share your expertise and suggestions for maximizing vision. Cheers!
Mind blowing 🤯content, execution and presentation. An entire seminar delivered in under an hour. I especially love the factoids on inverted bifocals for pilots, the backstory on how anti-reflective coating was invented by Zeiss, and the plethora of information about processes and materials. I’m also happy to have insight into the industry, knowing that the eyewear I invest in supports skilled artisans and not a cartel with no standards that compromises the entire industry. Outstanding video!
Superb video Robert, this is the most comprehensive video I've ever seen about conditions, prescriptions, glasses and lenses. This has helped me with notes that I will be bringing with me for my appointment tomorrow, Saturday. Look forward to seeing you all.
Awesome video Rob, I watched it while drinking my coffee before work. It would have been cool to see you go into unwanted prism due to mismeasurement and what it feels like for the wearer. Another super important reason why one should work with an optician.
Amazing video. Really learned a lot. Also makes me want to get the G1 more now too. Would be seriously helpful for my presentations and lectures at work.
What a great video! I’ve got a pair of Saville Row frames coming in and have began investigating lenses. For now looking for an everyday lens. Could you per chance discuss the impact of tints on color vision. I’m color deficient and struggle enough with making choices of what to wear, I really wouldn’t want to add to that. My current AR lenses I am told have a slight green tint and I can see that there is a difference when I take them off. I’m just not sure how it’s effecting the color I’m seeing.
How do all these fancy scanners work like iScrption for PD when one or both eyes turn in? Wouldn't it be off if they at times look through the other eye?
I've been fighting with my optical store for about 2 months now that they sold me pricey yet terrible aspherical lenses with very blurry peripheral vision. Lenses deserve much more attention than frames.
Awesome video as always, thank you Robert. If you have a blue tint in your lenses, are you increasing the amount of Blue Light that can effect your eyes?
Relative to other wavelengths, yes, but any tint reduces all wavelengths by some amount. It depends on how 'blue' the colour is (remembering that HEV light is actually closer to purple)
Hello, so I am thinking of buying masunaga chord b glasses, how do I know which model chord b is not a painted titanium frame, as I have heard such frames tend to last even longer
I don't think this is something you need to worry about with the quality of Masunaga. I hope you'll consider ordering your pair from us so we can combine them with the perfect lenses for you. You can email us via hello@thespectaclefactory.com - we have the frames in stock
Lots of great information here. Just one thing I would have liked to know before getting glass lenses... the highest abbe value is only true if you go for 1.5 index glass. I wanted to get rid of chromatic aberrations, but when I got my 1.6 index lenses I ended up with the same CA that my plastic lenses before had. 1.5 CR39 is better than that, for example. I'm thinking of switching to CR39 instead, but that's only available with a 1.5 index to my knowledge, and it'd be quite thick for my frame. Weight would be a benefit, not as noticeable CA and it would be safer to wear too. But how are the other optical properties? Is it as sharp as glass? As clear?
Why would my optician continually recommend polycarbonate for my lenses? When I asked about Trivex, they said it was outdated. I really like my optician and generally they are pretty well informed. Is there a good reason they might recommend polycarbonate, and/or what specific details about polycarbonate are so bad, is it mostly just the abb value? I definitely have not given the impression that I need safety glasses, they just seem to default to Polycarbonate. My prescription is about -3 in each eye, thats the main part of the prescription that impacts the material used right?
Poly seems to be the default in America from most opticians. It's also the cheapest, and also the worst in my option. For very low prescriptions it's probably ok but anything higher they get really thick and really extreme chromatic aberrations around the edges.
High margin, as I mentioned in this video. Polycarbonate is about 20 years older than Trivex, so calling Trivex outdated seems... strange. Polycarb has other disadvantages such as high scratch vulnerability and chemical reactivity which means they fail more often.
@@thespectaclefactory Thanks for the answer and thanks for the video! Since I wasn't specific and defaulted to their recommendation, maybe they were trying to save me money. I'll have to see what the cost difference is. They pay a Zeiss lab for lenses, so I'm not sure if they profit on the margins. I find that they usually have good reasons for their defaults, but I think most people aren't interested in the details of why, so they aren't used to explaining it. I'll just have to ask for more info!
They all take a dive unless they are really high end solid gold like some Cartier. Masunaga maybe not a dive as much but not going up in value that's for sure. I would never think of frames as an "investment" other than investing in your own happiness.
Hello, I have a terrible tie getting glasses that don't make my temporal muscle sore when i eat or talk. It's sore on the ridge of muscle aboveteglasses ats, so not thatte ars are making headsore where they touch. It is really getting me down. I have had this for several years , though not when i was younger. ( menopause???) I don't know which woud be te best frames. I wear bte, rite hearing aids too, so haveto thinkof that. Whatdo you think? I'm desperate. Wear varifocals. Wish i lived nearer to Preston! Be verygrateful for soe advice. Opticians I see don't seem to know😮
What do you think Costa De Mar brand? I find 1.67 high index lenses works the best for me. Glass lenses is great but my fear is that when the air bag go off in the car when you have accident it shatters in pieces and could goes into your eyes. I find my Kaiser Permanente optician is not that great, 2 out of 5. I feel Kaiser Permanente optician are car salesman not an optician. I really like Raen Acetate frames. Raen is my favorite company, it used to be Ray Ban. I find Ray Ban quality has gone off the rails and bad.
Hey Robert, my name is Johnny and I'm a freelance logo designer, would you be interested to have a logo redesign for your channel and your glasses business to have a logo that literally directly related to your brand name, spectacle (glasses) and factory to make the logo to have more personality which will be more memorable and new potential audience and customers will more curious and driven to click in and subscribe to your channel and visit your business as well? I love yellow colour and Hideo Kojima San as well and I would love to have the honor to design it for you, let me know if you interested to have me make it happen for you! :-)
Johnny, thank you. I'm very grateful for your offer! But our current branding was designed by a client of mine and it's all very intentional, and seems to be working for us. Maybe we could work together on another project?
Oh hi Robert, nice to meet you and I see, yeah we can work on many possibilities too, I see your I. G isn't actively used hence I sent you an email already, let me know what we can work together on! :-)
The importance of Lutein would also be worth making a video but I understand it's nothing to do with glass sales and therefore against the business interests. Either way, thanks to that, I no longer need any eye correction.
Lutein doesn't stop you needing glasses. At least, not to my knowledge! But it is an important ingredient in eye health, I agree. Most of the topics I covered here have nothing to do with sales.
@thespectaclefactory I have been taking lutein daily bases for over 5 years. It managed to reverse back my -1.5 to -0.25 within the 5 years. Also friends and family members who have started taking daily bases have significant vision improvement after 2 years and some of them had to change glasses for a weaker one. I wouldn't say lutein isn't able to help. Maybe not for everyone and everyone's body reacts differently but there are enough positive examples to me to believe.
