We need to make Daniel Storytime a regular thing

I love Rex so much but if we got a Daniel story time style episode once a week or every 2 weeks or whatever I would be so happy. This format was awesome!

Is this the episode that signifies the official split between 'whiskey vault' and 'whiskey tribe' channels? Or was it just the kickass interlude story that we all needed this morning? Loved the story, loved the format, really would enjoy more of these.

This is my favorite Daniel sign-off ever. The phrase, “ thanks for spending time with me, I’m really glad you are here.” So genuine and encompasses the essence of a Magnificent Bastard! Right on!

This episode takes me back to the time when Whiskey Vault videos had episode numbers in their titles :))) This feels very nostalgic, because back then almost every bottle came with a little story (or a big shenanigan from Master Mooch), and it felt special, beyond just tasting notes or specs. Thank you for doing the episode in this format, Daniel. This really takes me back to the early days. :)))

This is by far the best video you folks have produced in years. I love listening to Daniel wax poetic about history, distilleries and whisk(e)y. This is why I joined the magnificent bastards when you started, and would love to see more content like this.

Can we have more Daniel story time? I love some good spooky scottish folklore accompanied with some scotch, but there's a story for every whiskey I'm sure.

THIS WAS FUN!!! I am sure there are a LOT of of distilleries with histories and personalized urban legends that HAVE to be told. They add new dimensions to what we are drinking and may even impact our drinking experiences with what we're drinking. Definitely do more of these!!!!!

I was introduced to Glenrothes with the '74 Vintage and it was glorious. This 18yo is a nice version showing what age the distillery starts to shine. Keep up the stories Daniel!

Brilliant story Daniel. I have a story regarding Glenrothes. Around the late 80s early 90s my dad worked for British coal he was a manager at this point. For what ever reason he spent a few weeks in Scotland at a depo he was involved in transport maintenance something happened were my dad ended up being given a 18 year old bottle of Glenrothes in a fancy decanter with his name on and six matching glasses. Well my dad absolutely hates whisky so said whisky sat in this decanter for a while until I was about 14 year old when curiosity and a taste for whisky I had got from my grandad I delved into the decanter. Well let's say it was very very nice I guess this would have been 1989 ish. I got away with a small dram it seemed but a small dram over the next year happened a few more times till one evening my dad said that bloody whisky decanter I got can't be very good as the whisky is evaporating 😂😂. At this point I thought right I've got away with it so enough is enough. I think when I was about 20 I told my dad we just had a right laugh he couldn't believe he didn't twig it was me 😂 he did give me the whisky in the end there's very few drams that have lived up to that first.

I love shenanigans, they were my favorite's but honestly its really nice to see Daniel nerd out about a whiskey bc that's what brought me to this table. I learned a lot about whiskey from these two, if they have to do separate shows I'm here for it as long as I have both content.

I actually use awesome stories from history to introduce people to craft whiskey. I find that when they become emotionally invested in to the story they will be more likely to enjoy it and push themselves through the alcohol burn. This one was incredible! I’m definitely adding that story to the rotation.

I have a 15yr old Glenrothes bottled by Douglas Laing. It was part of their midnight series where they bottle particularly dark and heavily sherried whiskys. Its absolutely fantastic. It starts off like a Bakewell Tart (a tradition English desert made with almonds, marzipan and raspberry jam). Then like you say its goes all malty and biscuity on the finish. Fantastic stuff.

While I did love the old Som / Mooch dynamic. I did often find myself wishing the content was more oriented towards the whiskey, detailed review and the stories. I am very much looking forward to what Daniel does with this series. So far, I love what I see.

Cheers Daniel! I have a Glenrothers Bourbon Cask Reserve that I didn't initially like. From what I remember it had that funk you were talking about, but after a sniff from the bottle... it was more malt sweet and fruity... O_O
