An appropriate upload to mark the sad passing of the founder of The Glitter Band- John Rossall, what a loss to the music world,he left behind a great legacy
This brings back memories. I was in 4th form in high school in 1974 and loved the Glitter Band. Their sound was amazing. I still love their songs. Unfortunately I also loved Gary Glitter too. Till his sick and sordid private life was revealed. While I detest Glitter for what he did I still love his music. It was a big part of my teenage years at age 15/16.
"Wow", incredible version !! Like the enormous Reverb by their voices and the handclapping - Background ..Further the very special guitar sounds and of course. the Saxophones and the double drums....perfect Glamrock- Hit 👍 🎤 🎸🎸🎷🎷 🥁🥁 ❤
No doubt in my mind Gerry Shepard had a way better voice than Gary Glitter,I just don't get why they were 'shackled' with him,he was a minger, even back in the day!!
Garry F: I happened to meet a friend in town who told me John had died. I just burst into tears. It's heartbreaking for me to see these irreplaceable musicians leave. John Rossall Thank you for The Music. Rest In Peace. Kate 😢😢💕💕
Saw them live in hull. My ears were ringing for days afterwards. Awesome. Wasn't much into glam rock at the time, tamla and northern soul my music, but appreciate it more now looking back.
Loved this group had a blue glitter drum kit used to put my mum and dads heads away blasting there records thinking I was one of the the band members what great memories
Lily bless you, i totally agree with you, and like you i detest the bloke but i love the music i grew up with this 14 at the time, brilliant sound from a brilliant group, happy memories and PS Lily is my daughter's name❤
@@andymatthews7617 Here in New Zealand,The Glitter Band still gets a play on the radio, just a matter of what station you manage to catch, and just this very week, driving to work I heard GG with "I Love You Love Me Love",something I never thought I would hear on radio again. His music still gets played at sporting events around the country, and is still used as incidental music on TV sports shows here.
@@andymatthews7617 it's really only the UK that has that stigma about GGs music, and it's unfortunate for his UK fans, but the UK press will never let it go,he was the scapegoat for them, and took the brunt of a major witch hunt, but at the end of the day,it should be about the music - Michael Jackson still gets his music played,as do many other artists alleged of the same wrong doing.
the band with drummers whom gave birth to Killing Jokes’ beat . KJ ( their song Tension & its rhythm might be familiar) went on to inspire everyone from Metallica to Adam & The Ants & many more. I remember the moment that Radio Luxembourg released the news that John had quit.
There were and still are hundreds of bands/artists who use 2 drummers - The Glitter Band GG were probably the most famous of the glam acts to use 2 drummers, but Wizzard and Showaddywaddy used 2 drummers,as did T.Rex at one stage.
